I wonder if they didn’t have Leia say “always” because they decided for her body to vanish subsequent to that moment.

I wonder if it’d be at all doable or even a good idea to have her vanish right after Ben’s resolution after talking with Han.

Sounds like a pretty nice idea to me, that might be the reason why you didn’t hear her speak to Rey as the Jedi spoke back to her.

Wow, this thread has had a busy day! What an interesting idea. It’d take some doing. It’s still hard for me to entertain it much, but hopefully seeing the movie again in a couple weeks will bring me back up to speed.

Cool, let me know what you think of my restructured scene idea when taking more time to analyze the film. Thanks!

So this is my proposed narrative structure that I wanted to share. Because there are no deleted scenes, restructuring the scenes in this order may help the film feel less rushed.

Opening with Kylo Ren and Palpatine

Rey’s Training

Rey & Leia’s Conversation

Light Speed Skipping Sequence

Kylo Ren’s Mask Repaired

Falcon’s Return to Resistance Base

Resistance Discussing Palpatine’s Return

Group Discusses Traveling to Pasaana and Depart

First Order Conference Discussion

Group Arrives on Pasaana

Rey and Kylo Ren’s 1st Force Conversation

Group Meets Lando

Speeder Sequence

Knights of Ren Arrive on Pasaana

Underground Cave Sequence

Rey & Kylo Ren TIE Fighter and Force Lightning Sequence

Rey & Finn Discuss Her Power

Falcon is Boarded the First Order Ship

The Group Mourns Chewie’s Death and Discuss Traveling to Kijimi

First Order Take Chewie Into Custody

Arrival on Kijimi and Encounter with Zorii Bliss

The Group Hacks C-3PO

C-3PO is Shut Down

Kylo Ren is Reported of Activity on Kijimi

Poe & Zorii Talk

C-3PO Translates the Message

The Group Flee and Kylo Ren Arrives

The Group Board the First Order Ship

Rey Mind Tricks the Stormtroopers

Kylo Ren Searches Kijimi

Chewie is Rescued

The Group is Captured

Rey & Kylo Ren’s Force Duel Part 1

Pryde Orders to Kill the Group

Rey & Kylo Ren’s Force Duel Part 2

Hux Reveals Himself

Kylo Ren Offers Rey to Join Him

Pryde Kills Hux

Rey & Finn Discuss Her Lineage

Kylo Ren & Palpatine Talk

The Group Arrive on Endor

Encounter with Jannah

Finn & Jannah Talk

Rey Travels to the Death Star

Finn & Poe Bicker About Rey

Rey Searches the Death Star

Leia Feels Ben

Rey vs. Kylo Ren

The Group Arrive Back to Leia’s Death

(Possibly add in a exterior shot of the planet’s surface as Chewie’s painful growl is echoed. Maybe try adding a cross fade to another shot to simulate the passage of time on the planet to help sink in the impact of Leia’s death. Just and idea.)

C-3PO’s Memory Restored

Finn Talks with D-O

Poe Talks with Leia & Lando

Finn & Poe Discuss What They’ve Learned

Rey & Luke’s Conversation

Ben & Han’s Conversation

Palpatine Promotes Pryde

Resistance Discuss Traveling to Exegol

Poe’s Speech

The Resistance Takes Off

Rey Arrives on Exegol

The Resistance Arrives

The Battle Begins

Ben Arrives and Begins His Search for Rey

Palpatine Offers Rey the Throne

Ground Battle Occurs

Palpatine Allows Rey to Kill Him

Ben vs. The Knights of Ren

Palpatine Comes Back to Power

The Fleet Arrives

Palpatine Releases His Power

Rey Defeats Palpatine

First Order is Defeated

Reylo Moment and Ben’s Death

The Resistance Departs

Celebration

(Maybe leave it on a black screen to let the music wrap up before transitioning to Tatooine. Maybe even add an FX shot of the Falcon flying towards the planet. Someone could help you out with that.)

Rey on Tatooine

Sorry for how long this came out as. I understand the film arrives on Blu-ray in a few weeks, but once you see it again, this list may give you a better picture on how these sequences can be restructured and shuffled around. You may feel that this list does not suit your vision, but it is an idea to help get you started when you come around to working on Episode IX. Thanks, Hal!

Help: looking for... Selutron's Superman II

I have no leads for you mate - though this thread may be of interest…

Has anyone tried to do what selutron was doing for superman 2 richard donner cut if so can you tell me who?

As well as this post by Earl on the subject - link - and a few follow-up posts in the thread on the subject too. They are from 2017 - and indicate that selutron stopped work on his Edit before it was finished. (Some example videos and WIP cuts intended for inclusion to the Edit can still be found on youtube here, apparently.)

Oh! He didn’t finish it? I thought he did and was just posting clips from it like how Adywan did.

This might be ambitious and may not be something to do, but would you consider asking help from someone very talented and experienced with DeepFakes to fix Leia in the flashback scene. She looks too much like her character model in Battlefront II in there.

That’s Carrie Fisher’s actual face from Jedi, not CGI. I don’t know how an amateur could make it look better using deepfake technology.

It didn’t look like they merged archived material for that scene. If that’s true, could you tell me which scene from Return of the Jedi they pulled her face from? Was it when she was struggling to tell Han that her and Luke were related?

So it is essentially a deepfake…

Wow. That’s impressive. Leia still does look a little funny, though. Luke looks fine.

As disappointing as the news is to hear that the first home video release will not feature deleted scenes, there’s also the possibility that they could be released in a future Blu-ray. The Force Awakens had more bonus features and deleted scenes included in the 3D Blu-ray released in November 2016 compared to its standard Blu-ray in April that same year.

Also, the more I’ve thought about it, I think there is a way to make a good edit of The Rise of Skywalker, with or without deleted scenes. All it would take would be to cleverly use other material, including stuff from fans, as well as restructuring and shuffling some of the scenes.

The intention of adding it (in my edit anyway) was to give the vision some more immediate relevance to Rey’s emotional state - she’s afraid of losing people forever and fears that this has just happened with Finn. I don’t think it needs to speak to the rest of the trilogy.

I see your point, but if her vision shows the past and future, such as accurately predicting her fight in the snowy woods with Kylo Ren, then this would be an event that never happened. It could work for a personal nightmare she’s having, but the vision is mainly triggered from touching the lightsaber which has had a legacy that she is unaware of and is experiencing and interacting with for her first time.

No deleted scenes in the TROS BD… ok i’m done with this movie…

Inside, I’m telling myself that this is not true, but I think this is a fact. Is this an act of hiding the behind the scenes and fan backlash towards The Rise of Skywalker, kinda like how they never released deleted scenes for Rogue One. Solo a much worse production, and still, deleted scenes were released, despite trying to hide the director change.

I don’t know how true this is, but one of the actors who played one of the Knights of Ren said they saw an ending where Rey dies and Ben takes on the Skywalker name. Could be false, but if true, there may be a very unlikely chance this ending makes the deleted scenes release.

It was confirmed false. That guy didn’t even play a Knight of Ren, he was making it up.

I’m not really surprised to hear that. Sorry for posting this.

Yeah. FCP7 is already well past it’s lifespan and I’m not in a hurry to learn all over again using something else. I’ll always have FCPX for personal or simple things, but I’m happy with having good 1080p Star Wars and LOTR stuff. That’s 95% of all I’ve edited anyway. This was always a short set of projects rather than a hobby. It’s just that those projects went on and on.

And it’ll take a handful of miracles to have the time required to eventually complete a TROS project.

Understandable, I was just curious if this has ever been a fun hobby to you as it has been for me and other fan editors. There are so many movies out there to cut your teeth into to fix up or do something special with that it keeps the future of fan editing thriving.
