TFA: A Gentle Restructure (Released)

I’m okay with what’s here, and don’t want to remain on the hook for TFA or TLJ. I don’t really even want TROS to be able to lean back and take too much of a piss on them, either. I’m happy with how the fan edits turned out and wish anyone sincere luck who’d like to alter them further.

I know, but when fixing the trilogy, you would hope there to be continuity with these edits, but because they are yours, you can change whatever you’d like about them.

Hadn’t thought of that, but I agree that it need not pose a problem.

Also, V5 is mostly a glitch-fix. And mostly in the interest of finding something to change, I borrowed from NeverAr to remove the holochess cameo. Otherwise it’s the same as V4. The impetus was the video glitches; I didn’t want to leave things that way.

So the only change made was the holochess removal? Okay, was expecting a bit more to tie in better with IX.

It came really close, but TM2YC’s edit of Blade Runner won Favorite FanEdit of the Month.

I’d say TM2YC as an individual is more deserving of that distinction for that project than I with mine. In other words, if TROS:A were to have won it’d have been because of you all.

My June 10th viewing of Blade Runner will be pretty neat, though!

I can understand that, but the level of VFX work done by some of the people here is so good that it blew mew away with the kind of work you can accomplish on a fan edit.

Somebody had made a “Fan Soundtrack” for Hogwarts Legacy. Two tracks so far, but they might make more.

Check it out, and maybe you can ask permition to use these, if you like them?

It sounds great, but I’m fine with sticking with the film and game music, and by game music, I’m talking about the scores to the tie-in games that was released with each movie.

Fantastic idea, I would love to hear this experience!

Did you also use the music from the John Williams collection from two years ago?
The Complete Recordings and Recording Sessions from the rest of the movies are also great.

I’d suggest the OST from Hogwarts Mystery and the trailer music form the movies.
Maybe there are some jewels in there, or cues for certain scenes.

Other source music from the movies:

Trailer music

The game OST for 5 and 6 were rereleased last year with better quality under the name ‘EA Music Composer Series: James Hannigan Vol. 1-2 Soundtrack’

Interesting. I’ll have to take a look. I don’t really plan on using trailer music since it is composed for usually a montage, which trailers can be. I don’t know if it would go well, even though the trailer music for Deathly Hallows was brilliant. If you’re interested in the audiobooks, I can shoot you a PM.

By the way, do you think you could do the Jim Dale (US) versions sometime in the future, too?
I personally prefer Stephen Fry’s versions, there are a lot of fans of Jim Dale, too.

I think Jim Dale is great too, but I never really intended on doing versions for him as well. There is a group that’s done those kind of projects on the U.S. versions. I think they were called Leaky Cauldron Audiobooks, or something like that.

Sham00k is asking for deepfake requests. Maybe ask him?

Wow! If people are okay with providing deepfakes for fan edits, that would be quite amazing. Like what he did in fixing Tarkin and Leia in Rogue One.

Did you not see his Luke Skywalker one recently? I did a video breakdown review as it was so impressive.

I did, and I saw your video too. The mouth movement could need a bit more work, but let’s not go off topic from Hal’s thread.

Dom's (Possibly) Useful TROS Edit (WIP)
Time

I checked out some of the stuff for your workprint. The music used of Kylo Ren approaching Palpatine’s lair was nice, but I also liked the Opera House music you used in your Vimeo clip as well. I think the transitions from Kylo Ren to Rey, and from Rey to the Falcon could have been straight cuts instead of diagonal wipes, as it doesn’t come off as too distractive. I also think the shot of Leia from the trailer added in as the Falcon takes off, while nice, doesn’t seem to work that well for me. The extensions of shots taken from the trailers were nice and I thought the hanger room scene’s reveal was a very creative replacement. I was also surprised how much I liked the addition of an instrumental rendition of Duel of the Fates to the duel. Having Leia call out to Ben in the way you did was nice, but I think it could be refined a bit more. However, I think your workprint is in a good state for you want it, Dom. Just curious if you’ve seen the color correction done in Hal’s edit and was wondering if you were interested in using those CUBE files. Lastly, even though your workprint is in Stereo, I was wondering if the final edit will be in 5.1 surround sound. That’s all I really have to say, but I can’t wait to see it finished. Great work!
