Sudden blockiness of video while editing in PPro 2.0 - Problem solved!

Swe, I haven't yet experimented much with ripping DVDs to MPEG-2, but, since the problem is consistent across multiple tests, maybe it's due to copyright protection? Maybe try another piece of software to rip the DVD.

Marvolo, I just checked Adobe.com and found that you can export to MPEG-2 with AE 7.0; not sure about 6.5, but I'll dig a little deeper if you still need the help.

I have AE 7.0. I will try again to import an MPEG-2 and see what happens.

Screw new HD/BR discs, give me standard DVD disc and a DVD player capable of outputting a hi-def signals.
Then we already have the tools we need and there's no format war.

Maybe someone will wise up and do that. Just tweak the DVD specifications to include a hi-def video format.

I suppose that was off topic, sorry. It's just that I saw a Harry Potter hdtv clip in 720p today compressed to 4.7gb and it was bloody amazing. It even still had room for subs and 3 languages of 6 channel ac3.

I'll say it again: the HD war is a contrivance!

You would have to see HD-DVD in action to understand its value. Also 720P isn't that high of a resolution when you consider that by the end of the year Blu-ray is releasing discs that can produce 1080P images, and HD-DVD will follow.

So, this is how the DVDs are going to look...

By way of comparison, disc three of Return of the King: EE is simply labeled, "Return of the King / The Appendices," instead of the title of the program ("The Appendices Part 5: The War of the Ring").

Not to burst your bubble, but my Return of the King Appendicies disc says " The Return of the King Part Five: The War of the Ring".

The Blob!

But that blob's not present on every frame of those scenes, is it? Are those the first frames of those two shots? If so, maybe it's something to do with the way they film was originally spliced (there were all kinds of jumps and scrapes and rubbish on first or last frames that I cleaned out of my LD transfer, which weren't there when I got the 2004 DVDs to use as source).

I am not sure whether it is present in every frame, and you may be right about the "blob" being a side effect of splicing.

Given the number of bugs that crept in when the video masters for the DC boxset were made, I can believe somebody was drinking in the telecine room and had a little accident!

NON-Star Wars Fan Edit and Alternate DVD Covers SHOWCASE

I didn't click on here only to expect some damn Harry Potter covers... Waste of my time since I'm obviously a non-fan and I'm not going to download ADM's or anyone else's cuts of those HP movies. I'm going to wait until the three main cast are in their 20's and all the overhype dies down before I watch them. They're not true fantasy though and more of a bastardised hybrid of it. Rant over.

I task someone to make a custom cover for Winners & Sinners, UPC and everything. Just a replacement cover of the FOX/Fortune Star release with the corrected aspect ratio of 1.85:1 listed on the back. Using the cover image below but taking off the Korean and the banner and replacing it with a custom Fox/Fortune Star banner.

Synopsis: 'Winners And Sinners' is a delightful action comedy featuring Jackie Chan and directed by Sammo Hung (TV's Martial Law) who also stars and is the fight sequence co-ordinator. This hilarious farce follows five small time crooks who start a cleaning company in order to try and stay legit after their release from prison. The five bumblers inadvertantly come into conflict with a counterfeiting gang holed up in the building they are hored to clean and unwittingly get caught in a war between rival gangsters and law agencies. Ranked as one of the funniest and most entertaining of Hung's slapstick comedies, 'Winners And Sinners' is full of high jinks, entertaining fight scenes and incredible stunts. The movie won the prestigious Honk Kong Film Award in 1984 for best action choreography, and spawned several sequels.

Come here acting like that, and then expect someone to make you a cover? You need to learn some manners.
