Meat Is Meat (AKA The Mad Butcher) - AI HD Upscale (WIP)
Time

Remember Victor Buono? Did you know he starred in a practically unknown horror film as a cannibal butcher? Interestingly, this film predates The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which of course is also about preparing and selling human meat. It was an Italian film, so it probably had an Italian audio track at some point. It was released under several names including “Meat Is Meat”, “The Vienna Strangler” and “The Mad Butcher”.

The film is VERY rare, only existing on a crappy dvd from the early 2000s, which is now rather pricey and only has the english audio. Despite this, using the wonders of AI technology, I’m going to do an HD upscale of it just for fun.

Shrek - 35MM Restoration (TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE)
Time

I’d just like everyone to know that I’ve taken into account the various problems with Version 1 of this project. First and foremost, it was encoded at 30fps for the purposes of making a blu-ray, which is not an easy thing to do for a mac user. I use Adobe Encore for making blu-rays, and the lowest framerate it can accept without lagging is 30fps. Therefore, I will from now on release all of my projects as as the raw MOV files that are made in Final Cut Pro. Version 2 of Shrek will happen sometime later this year, but I’d like to take a break to work on some of my old projects that have just as many people interested. First and foremost, I am returning to work on my Devo project. It won’t be as lavish as I originally intended, but It will have as many Bonus Features as I can possibly come up with.

Again, I’m sorry about the problems with the Shrek restoration. They have been noted and will be fixed by the time Version 2 happens.

Project DEVO [WIP]
Time

Due to time constraints, I’ve decided to make this project far more bare bones than I originally envisioned, meaning the project will be initially released as a collection of all the videos in their raw exported MOV format. The bonus features are on hold for now. This goes for all the projects I’m currently working on, such as the Weird Al Project, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Howling and a project that is being kept secret until it’s release. The Shrek project will not be affected by this.

All the projects will eventually be released as a blu-ray with bonus features, but for now I’m gonna keep things simple.

Is this gonna be synced to the blu-ray?

Probably not, at least not at first. I may do multiple versions with more audio tracks, but the added music cue on the bluray really bugs me. The audio from the print, though it’s the Russian dub, confirmed that it’s not suppose to be there. Still, Thanks for sending me the blu-ray tracks. 😃

The scan has been paid for, and the files are on the way. First release will be both 4K and 1080p versions with 3 audio tracks, Stereo, Surround & Optical Russian. They will be released as MKV files that will come with a special thanks to all who helped out in this project. We’re almost there!

You’re not going to include the dubs I sent you?

They’re from the bluray, which has an added music cue that wasn’t in the theatrical version.

So episode had that were removed in the DVD versions BUT, some episodes had scenes added in the DVD version (ex, the Rocky review) so what I think you should do is combine all of them to create the ultimate version of each episode.

I think just doing the original youtube versions interests me more, at least for now.

A lot of the gameplay in the early episodes was pretty poorly recorded (using composite and a DVD recorder). If you wanted you could probably re-create it in emulation and get much better quality.

That seems a bit overkill. The game footage is turning out surprisingly clean, so I think it’ll be fine.

Here are some screenshots.

Assorted screenshots from Season 1. Please note that since these were originally shot on Mini DV, there will still be a bit of interlacing no matter what I do. At least, I haven’t been able to eliminate it entirely. However, I think the noise level, details and color have been nicely improved.
