Some samples of the color correction I did. The original DVD and a 35mm Trailer were used as reference. Looks much more like film than the modern colorization on the blu ray.

I have that one, but my way of ripping laserdiscs sucks, even if just for audio. The 1995 laserdisc was made by the same company as the 1997 DVD, which is my source for audio. The audio was stretched to 5.1, but I compressed it down to mono using Handbrake. Sadly, it’s as close as I’m gonna get for now.

That auction is close enough to me that the shipping is super cheap. If you’re willing to cover the cost, I can buy it and rip the audio for you. I take the optical output from my LD player straight into a CD recorder.
Just make the audio files available to anyone else that wants them.

Thats ok. I think what I’ve got will work fine. Building the BD now. I’ll Probably release it tonight.

I think you’re misunderstanding this. Older copies of the movie, i.e. laserdisc, VHS, old DVD all have a different sound mix than the 2002 DVD onward. The audio was pitched down by the creators of the film as an intended effect. None of the copies I own are PAL. All of them are NTSC. I own 6 copies of this movie.

I thought every dvd version was remixed with different sounds. Sorry for that I have the 21st anniversary edition but there was a botched release before that in the Uk that had the telephone box scene missing. I don’t think there was any other uk release on DVD and they were all 5.1 mixes.

I think the UK release might be better then?

The 20th anniversary version is where the changes were first made. Chances are your copy has the altered soundtrack.

It’s pretty different. As I said before, added gunshots, car crash sounds, impacts, foley, gore sounds and the entire thing pitched down an octave.

I didn’t buy the 35th anniversary edition precisely for this reason. How hard is it to include the original mono track? JAWS managed it for both DVD (re-release) and Blu-ray.

It’s been so long since I’ve heard the mono track I’ve forgotten what it sounded like.

Funny how that works isn’t it? Why do people hate releasing these movies as they were INTENDED to be seen/heard?
And yes, the Kessler boy is one of the coolest werewolves ever.
