One of my older brothers told me that someone he was talking to said something to the effect of “George Lucas already has the scripts for episodes 7 8 and 9 written.” This was back in like, 2007.

I was told the same thing back in 1999 or so.

Give Lucas a few hours and he will deliver finished scripts for 7-8-9 (even 10-11-12 if you offer him a cup of coffee). Not good, but finished. But if you want a STAR WARS quality script, he needs 4 years/10 hours of work per day. I would very much like to read the synopsis of the ST he “sold” to Disney in 2012… I’m pretty sure it’s American graffiti with x-wings and tie-fighters (like R1 is Divergent with x-wings and tie-fighters…).

The movies are Star Wars, Empire, and Jedi. That’s what they’ve been called by everyone, so that’s what they will be called.

The original copyrights I believe are register under SW, TESB, and ROTJ as well, making those the official titles

I won’t discuss it for SW, because this is its original title, under which it was first registered. But for the others, what is the copyright ? TESB and ROTJ were marketed as “SW : TESB” and “SW : ROTJ” but the episode number was originally in the crawl.

Don’t know if this is entirely reliable, but here is imdb card : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2488496/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_dt_dt#akas

(original title) Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens
(alternative title) Star Wars: The Force Awakens

And I’m not religious. So what am I?

You are an American.

That’s not a race.

You can be semitic, or armenian, or turkish, or slavs. It’s even possible you can be latin or nordic. I don’t know your genealogy, so please send me a blood sample so I can run a few tests. I’m not sure you really are jewish, regarding your claimed higher IQ (nice article you’ve posted by the way, not racist at all…).

edit: I think that again we won’t agree on anything, and since it’s your personal life you’ve brought up in the conversation I prefer not to keep on.

There’s no Israel on Tatooine but Watto is still a racial stereotype.

Oh God… where do I begin ? Let’s give it a try :

  • there is no jewish race (nazis believed that, sionists still believe that, but this is bullshit), so Watto can’t be a jewish racial stereotype ;

  • Israel is a country with jewish people, muslims people, North African immigrants of jewish religion and of semitic ancestry, and European immigrants of jewish religion but not of semitic ancestry; so I don’t quite see the point of talking about Israel here since this is not a “full” jewish country nor a “full” semitic country, and which does not represent any race or stereotype that could be found in TPM ;

  • so Watto is, AT MOST, a semitic racial stereotype. Watto is a slaver and a bad guy, and he looks like a bad guy you could find in North Africa/Middle East (or in the Steptoe/Sanford reference provided by yotsuya). It’s not subtle (Jabba is a bad guy who looks like a bad guy) but I fail to see why this would be racist/antisemite.

Also, read this:

yotsuya said:
And Watto… seriously? Jewish? Why, because of the hat in Episode II… the Don Quixote metal hat? No, he is Steptoe/Sanford - a stereotypical junk dealer, not a Jewish knockoff. Just look at the pics of Steptoe - the long nose, the frequent unshaven appearance, the bad teeth, the narrow face. Watto doesn’t have a beard, he has stubble. There is a big difference. No, you reading more into this than there is. And there are plenty of people in this world who love money who aren’t Jewish, so claiming that has anything connection is really ridiculous, especially since it is just one of the many parallels Watto has with Steptoe and Sanford.

The poster is for marketing purposes. It doesn’t display the actual title. What’s in the movie is the title, which is: Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens. It goes the same for every other episode since 1980 (TESB has no number on posters but its title is Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back).

I still don’t get why people don’t want it to be part VII (well, I don’t want either it to be part VII but it is…).

It’s just a shame no release does use the actual movie title, Episode VII or just VII being skipped (even the english wiki page is wrong about that, it really is curious and quite disrespectful of everything that happened before). I know that individual releases as steelbooks of the main saga don’t display the number, in order to easily put R1 between III and IV I guess. And still no Blu ray edition of Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars

I really need to listen to some of foreign dubs to see how Nute and the rest sound.

In the German dub, they have French accents.

In French, they sound a little bit russian (with “r” being rolled) [edit: Q2 fan edit has a french track, check it out if you want to hear the french dubbing]. “Droidekas” actually means something in french: “droïde de casse” = droïd that wreck things. Oh, wait… these coward political maneuvers who colonize black people to get trade treaties signed are supposed to be XIXth century french ? Hell, I’m being offended now !
And are german and irish people offended as well by General Hux (I mean, he’s a space nazi ginger) ? They should be I guess. Are gay people offended by C-3PO (he clearly sounds like my hairdresser) ? Or aren’t just american people getting offended more easily that europeans (swedish not included) ?

Fun fact about racism: in France we have a quite powerful far-right party called Front National (27% at the last election, we do not laugh that much about that but we try), commonly known as “FN”. That’s why french people get an extra joke when Poe names Finn… hum… wait… a kinda white dude giving a black man his name… oh… is this racist ?

Felicity Jones is way too beautiful compared to Daisy Ridley.

Judy Garland was way too beautiful compared to Liza Minnelli. What’s your point?

In the inner logic of movies you have to buy a slight ressemblance between relatives. I don’t see any between Jones and Ridley.

edit: but with second thoughts, Portman and Christensen are way better looking than Fisher and Hamill, so… wouldn’t be new in SW.

<strong>STAR WARS: REBELS</strong> (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

Sounds quite good I confess:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyiYl7h2Q70

A soundtrack album when the series is over would be very much welcome, with the most dynamic and original pieces included (not really convinced by the SW theme reprises and the strange James Horner’s Rocketeer ripped-off/hommage).

I have rewatched most of season 2, and overall this second season is weaker that the first one: too much filler with not enough material. 13 episodes for S1, 20 for S2, wasn’t a great idea to extend the number of episodes (I especially dislike the sequel of Children of the Force, which was a very poor arc of TCW). The opening season is very good (with a badass Vader destroying half the rebel fleet all by himself) and the conclusion is strong. Sarah Michelle Gellar laugh is always nice 😄 (not as impressive as Hamill’s Joker however). Still a good series though, but could have been greater.

Why not, but as far as we know within the inner movie logic the saber goes to her, she does not take the saber.

How on earth do we know that?

Sorry, did not see your reply. I should have used a different grammar in my sentence, like this one:

Why not, but as far as we know within the inner movie logic the saber could have gone to her without her taking it by choice [but by the will of the Force and so on]

Can you stop calling people that. You’re the only one on this forum who displays childish behavior on this forum. It’s like when 12 year olds used to call me “kid” on XBL

No people: only you. You’re a little child, insecure and afraid.

Why ruin all the fun? I like shitting on your point of view.

Yeah, like a little child. You’ll grow up someday. Don’t worry.

Cool down kiddo, cool down. Take a deep breath, go play a video game. You don’t even seem to understand ANH (which is coherent with the fact you like TFA better), so you should do like Frink and stop stating your opinion about it.

Edit:

And what exact conflict did Luke have in STAR WARS?

Just to be sure: this is a joke ? I mean: have you seen this movie ?
