Not feasible and pointless I guess. The guy is never called Wedge anyway. He’sjust a random and very nervous pilot.

With the same voice as Wedge…

Really ? I’ve never noticed that !

But Mala, Wedge is such an important character with such a memorable and non-generic voice, how could you not notice?

I didn’t listen… I DIDN’T LISTEN 😦

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

According to what’s on the spleen under Adywan’s name, I believe this is it :

The Empire Strikes Back 1997 Reconstruction [Adywan] 1080p MKV

Description: We don’t have this here, and someone requested that I upload it. It’s a very nice color corrected version of the 2004 with the original Emperor reinserted, and perhaps other reversions, and of course the 1997 audio mix.
Original NFO (edited from AVCHD version):
STAR WARS EPISODE 5: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK 1080P 1997 SE THEATRICAL VERSION - ADYWAN REPACK
VIDEO: 1080p 23.976fps
AUDIO: (selectable using the audio button on your remote)
track 1: English AC3 5.1 @ 640kbps (taken from the laserdisc and not the DVD mix)
Track 2: English AC3 2.0 Directors Commentaries
SUBTITLES: English
Notes:
This is the 1997 SE Theatrical version for the first time in HD and not the updated 2004
version already available. It contains the original Emperor and the 5.1 Dolby Digital theatrical mix
only available on the laserdiscs…
The source used was the German Premier 16GB HDTV broadcast with the English crawl taken from the SkyHD broadcast.
This release has been extensively colour corrected to return the movie closer to what it looked
like pre-2004 ( so no more “blue” colouring to the movie)

The Shmi death scene works really damn well without any soundtrack, with only the sound of the flames as the backdrop.

Here’s part of it:

I can’t figure out how to replace the Death Star motif from the end of ‘burning homestead’. It needs to be replaced, preferably with a slower fade out version. Does that exist?

I like the idea ! But I’m not sure about the musical choice, since burning homestead is totally linked to Luke (I also don’t like they recycled it in TFA) and the situation leads to a positive change for him, while Shmi’s death triggers the worst of Anakin.

Surely not, as that would be comically “take turns telling a story.”

That would be comical. With each film undermining the one that came before it.

For that to be true, TLJ would’ve had to “undermine” TFA, which is not even remotely the case.

Not if you have seen the movie.

I think we’ve seen different movies then (the Star Wars one is called “Last Jedi,” “Last Knight” is Transformers).

I’m talking about Star Wars (you’ve noticed it was a Star Wars forum, right ?)

Though it wouldn’t surprise me. Lucasfilm has proved it has no plan for Star Wars.

It’s plan is to make good movies. It’s worked so far.

No, not really so far (1 sort of interesting flick and three terrible ones).

We’re talking about Disney produced films, not ones directed by Lucas.

Exactly. The Lucas ones are way better than the Disney ones.

The ‘Custom Special Edition’ That Almost Wasn’t, But Then Was (Released)
Time

I remember a post of Harmy explaining that 720p is not really a quality loss with the OT since the bluray aren’t technically “good” 1080p, so fully uncompressed 720p should be quite good ! So you’re still planning to make two tracks ? A pure OT and a PT-compliant (Slave I Episode II sound, Jango Fett’s voice as Boba’s) ? If you can borrow one extra thing from Ady, the shuttle going from one destroyer to the other would be nice.

(I’m still hoping Ady delivers the bluray version of Revisited; the 2017 720p is good but with a higher compression rate it would look better).

edit: SE 97 Reconstruction comes with english subtitles iirc, would be nice to sync them to your edit (and quite easy to do: just keep a log of the number of frame differences in the sections you’ve altered, with that info and the original subtitle file it would be very quite - a matter of minutes - easy to sync)

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Another Happy Sanding. (Released)
Time

Yeah maybe in a conservative cut it’s not useful to remove that.

The more I think about it, the more I believe I’d love this conservative cut to be Octorox’s EpIII extended editions with a few things dealt with I consider mandatory:

 • no “I’m sorry” master during the opening space fight
 • no R2 killing droids with oil
 • no Dooku cgi jump
 • no Palpatine going “yeah !” during Anakin v Dooku
 • I’m puzzled about “DO IT!” : maybe just remove “Good. Now: kill him” and let Anakin take the decision after only “DO IT !” (very unsure about that scene… what have you decided about that Octorox ?)
 • no Anakin whining during the Jedi Council
 • no ridiculous Palpatine close ups & melting face during the Windu fight
 • no Anakin killing kids (seriously, I hate that shot)
 • no “I saw your ship”
 • no “she has lost the will to live”

and a few silly things here and there removed or slightly restructured. A cut the same way Hal edited TLJ really (around 10/15 minutes cut, 5 added), the very same thing with the small very bad things removed and cut material reinserted.

Anyway I’m still highly hyped by this project, hope it comes to fruition in glorious audio-video quality 😃

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Another Happy Sanding. (Released)
Time

Ok, if I may I’ve put some kind of a cutlist/don’t cut list (using Hal9000’s list) to what I more or less wish the edit to be (it’s merely suggestions, keeping the “conservative cut” point of view):

 • keep original title and opening crawl

 • keep the opening space sequence mostly as it is

 • remove a few battle droid voices

 • Dooku is not mentioned until he arrives to confront the Jedi

 • keep the elevator sequence, but trim the R2 humor. Obi-Wan never refers to R2 by name.

 • A match cut removes bad dialogue before the duel and the weird Dooku cgi jump

 • Removed sound effects in the rear audio channels that were lifted straight from The Empire Strikes Back.

 • Cut away as the railing starts to land on Obi-Wan. The original made it look like his legs were crushed.

 • Anakin quickly decapitates Dooku with no influence from Palpatine. However, he still questions his actions. This makes him appear more mature and autonomous. (maybe a way to keep Palpatine “DO IT !” as the sole dialogue left ?)

 • Corrected two inaccurate lightsaber ignition sounds during the opening sequence. Obi-Wan and Anakin’s sabers must match their ANH and ESB sounds.

 • Removed as much silliness as possible during the fight on the bridge of the Invisible Hand

 • insert “A Plot to Destroy the Jedi.” scene

 • trim balcony scene

 • Dialogue trimmed during Anakin’s appointment to the Jedi Council.

 • Reinstated the deleted scene in Bail Organa’s apartment

 • keep the opera scene as it is (yeah, even with the reference to midichlorians which implies Anakin to be Palpatine’s son)

 • Reinstated the sunset meeting between the loyalists and Palpatine

 • Trim Padme’s apartment to remmove a dialogue about the jedi council

 • keep Boga’s noisy introduction (western vide ! 😃)

 • Removed Grievous’ line, “You will be safe there.”

 • Trimmed Grievous’ lunge that Obi-Wan does not react to

 • reorder the duel à la L8 in order to keep the Sergio Leone close-up and to keep “you are doom” and the Force punch

 • Trim the now redundant scene in the war room talking about a plot to destroy the Jedi

 • Removed Palpatine’s voiceover as Anakin waits in the Council room

 • keep Paplatine v Windu dialogues as they are, especially the “Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?” line which is great

 • Trimmed the lightsaber fight to remove the lame close ups on Palpatine’s face

 • As Anakin enters the scene, Windu is already going to kill Palpatine, who defends himself with force lightning and sends Windu falling to his death. Use Hal9000 version of this scene

 • maybe use Hal9000 version of Anakin and Palpatine dialgues, with no mention of Padme during the knighting of Vader scene.

 • removed the scene where Anakin ignites his saber on a roomful of children

 • trim Yoda’s interactions with the Wookiees after Order 66, but keep the fact Yoda leave the planet with a small ship

 • keep R2 popping out of Anakin’s fighter

 • keep Obi-Wan and Yoda’s fight to enter the Temple

 • removed Yoda’s line that sees Anakin and Vader as separate people

 • keep the duel between Yoda and Palpatine but trim some dialogues (this fight is corny but it’s still a lot of fun to watch)

 • Padme is never informed about Anakin killing children

 • Removed Obi-Wan sneaking into the bathroom on Padme’s ship

 • Removed most asinine dialogue as Padme arrives and confronts Anakin, including “I saw your ship.” No reference to younglings

 • keep dialogue about the ‘high ground’ at the end of the duel.

 • Removed Obi-Wan referencing the chosen one prophecy during Anakin’s immolation

 • keep Padmé ding, but remove the “lost her will to live” line

 • Replaced Vader’s scream with the Russian dub

 • insert deleted scene of Yoda arriving on Dagobah.

The ability to create polls and the ignore feature.

A forum is a community, so I don’t agree with à la carte features that can generate even more aggressivity than we already witness every two posts around here. I get your point though. I just know by experience that such a feature doesn’t work the way you believe it would to prevent this constant aggressive behavior of a few OT.com members.
