It’s better for fans to have the upper hand in this case. We have 4K OOT releases, they don’t.

It’s currently at 59%. Interesting. I wasn’t expecting this much critical backlash. From fans or otherwise. Apparently apathy isn’t the issue.
Mandalorian television edit
Main goal: create a version of the Mandalorian as similar to something that would be broadcast on actual television back before the Disney purchase.
Basic ideas
• Crop the show to 16:9
• Create 2 fade to black cliffhangers per episode to mimic what would have been intended for commercial breaks
• Change the ending credits to be similar to the kind used in Clone Wars. Starfield with no concept art. The rendition of the closing theme used in Episode 7 is perfect for this.
• Remove all verbal references to Sequel Trilogy iconography and locations
Ambitious ideas
• Create a new sound mix more indicative of previous Star Wars material like Clone Wars and videogames. Replacing the sound of every blaster shot, vehicle, and droid effect. For example, making IG-11 sound like the Assasin Droids in Clone Wars. Essentially less crude and hard-hitting and more Ben Burt.
• Replace certain character’s laser colors. Good characters get blue, bad characters get red. The New Republic get blue or green blaster fire.
Really ambitious ideas
• Replace Sequel aliens with CGI or by removing scenes. Maybe replacing that Ardennian with a Besalisk or Volpai.
• Add more Prequel Aliens with CGI
• Replace the Deathtroopers with Dark Troopers. Either with CGI or real actors. CGI may be more fitting as Phase 0 dark troopers are altered clones.
I’m feeling a 199 million dollar opening.
And I think a lot of younger people who grew up on the Special Editions, the prequels and the Clone Wars basically worship George Lucas, so I’ve seen a lot more people defend ha choices nowadays. Plus, the Special Editions are their Star Wars. I think this is what George was hoping for.
And that makes fan projects like Despecialized, the 4K series, and the skymaster editions so important. In a ironic, yet beautiful way, George Lucas altering the original trilogy has ensured that the originals will be preserved for years. With Lucas’s meddling, OT.com wouldn’t exist! Several films and televisions shows wouldn’t have been restored as well as they have been here. It’s really quite amazing.
I know that’s a bit of a tangent, but I think my point is clear. George got what George wanted, but we got our own amazing copies of the unaltered original trilogy and an entire community to go along with it. The special editions and the suppression of the OOT were and are a net good.
Tell me which scene you want me to colorize, and I’ll try my best on a screen capture.
removed references to Peri being alive and married to Brian Blessed.
Brian Blessed is going to be my husband now!
the worst SW ever
You rang?
would you try your skills on star wars? 😃
On what exactly? Deleted scenes?
I’ll go 500~400 million domestic. Let’s just round it to 450M.
Happy endings are overrated.
I disagree. I’ve found that the darker and edgier endings are overrated.
So, do the capture files still exist?
Was it ever properly captured?
Is it just me or is the image geometry different?
Nice work. Pity it’s wasted on sh*t like THE SPACE PIRATES.
The episode is easier to color

But I’m most excited about this project because the current 4K master blows. Too much DNR.
Wait, that was just DNR and not the Madame Tussauds Star Wars special!?
Hey, can I have this? This sounds awesome!
I am wondering if, much in the same way McDiarmid has replaced dialog in Rebels while working on TROS, they’re going to re-do Christensen’s appearance at the end of Jedi so that he’s actually ACTING in the scene? But I guess that’s really unlikely now that we’ve seen the 4K masters and that shot hasn’t been re-done at all.
Well, actually the 4k masters were re-done. It makes sense why they didn’t redo that shot though.
Love your username by the way

There isn’t a thread for it and as I’m an emerging colorizer I thought I’d make one
What master does the Disney+ version use? Is it the same as the 2011 master (or the 2011 master but upscaled)? Is it the 2011 master but at higher resolution? Or is it a new master entirely?
2011
I was honestly hoping something like this would happen, I’ve always been curious about what changes Lucas would make next time. With 4K77 and 4K83, alongside 4K80 and 4K99 in the works they can do anything as far as I’m concerned!
After looking at it on my PC I can confidently say this is a perfect base for any feature project. With some contrast and color grading, this can easily become the best version of TPM out there. Excellent work!
I’m on mobile so I probably can’t see everything correctly, but it looks like the 35mm is crushed in terms of black and white detail.
I concur with the majority, it’s fantastic!
