The Dream of the Giant Fractal Woodlouse.
Time

Before The Force Awakens came out, I had a dream that I had seen it. First of all, we were in a really grungy theatre, and there were only like, 20 seats in the whole place. I don’t remember much from the film, but Han and Leia had small roles, and Luke was mentioned, but never seen. Kylo Ren only appeared in shadows, and Hux was the main villain, and weilded a lightsaber. Finn was the main character, not Rey, and he had his arm cut off at the end by Hux, before killing Hux (can’t remember how). He got a robot hand, as people in Star Wars do, but it looked like a cheaper verison of the T-800’s arm from The Terminator, and I remember saying “I knew they didn’t want to use CGI, but this is preposterous!” At the end some First Order official reported to Kylo that Hux had died, and Kylo said something like “I’ll have to do it myself” and the last shot of the film was the shot from the trailer of him igniting his tri-bladed sabre.

Come to think of it, that was a pretty awesome dream.

Man of Steel Spoiler Discussion
Time

Well, I absolutely despise Man of Steel, and I’d rather watch Superman IV than endure that torture again.

I hate the needlessly dark atmosphere, it tries to be realistic while also being completely over the top and stupid.
The overt symbolism shows that Snyder is one of the most pretentious directors out there.
Henry Cavill is bland as bland can be.
Amy Adams is bland as bland can be.
Kevin Costner is bland as bland can be.
Russell Crowe is bland as bland can be.
Michael Shannon is over the top as over the top can be.
The colour palette is horrendous.
The camera work is horrendous.
The music is bombastic and bland.

That pretty much covers my problems with the film, though there are surely plenty more.

I award the film a two out of ten.

X-Men: First Class (2011) - 8/10

Far better than I remembered. Love the dynamic between Charles and Erik and the action scenes are thrilling. Unlike the first X-Men, all the characters are well developed and contribute to the end battle. Apart from some ropey CGI, Michael Fassbender’s wavering accent and the villains slightly clumsy motives, I love it.

Kevin Bacon is also hilariously fantastic, nearly as good as Ian McKellen was in the first.

EDIT: Wolverine’s five second cameo is also one of the best things ever.

Most characters are criminally underdeveloped, especially Cyclops, the action scenes are mostly lacking (apart from a very fun sequence involving Toad), and it tries to be overly gritty even though the premise is ludicrous. The CGI has dated considerably as well. But that being said, I love the relationship between Wolverine and Rogue, and between Charles and Erik. I liked most of the movie, so I guess that’s enough to recommend it.

Someone shares my opinion haha! Overall I found X-Men to be pretty subpar, X2 was alright, X3 was awful, both wolverine movies weren’t much, first class is my favorite so far (still not amazing) and Days of future past was alright.

Iv just never been a big fan of this franchise.

I’m even harsher on it than you.

I’m not harsh on it. I think it’s a pretty good film, hence the above average rating I gave it.

From memory, I liked all of them except The Last Stand and Origins: Wolverine. Everything else ranges froma six to and eight out of ten.

What do you want to happen in the the rest of the ST?

I know this is all seems trivial to you, but I want to see if I have writing talent. I want to know if the last months of my life thinking about stories were wasted. I mean, come on, I don’t mean to be annoying. I’ll look at as many alligator pictures as you want if you just give the third draft a quick read and a 1-10 rating.

My consensus:

Some okay ideas, hampered by atrocious dialogue and iffy character moments.
