Everybody's Top Ten Favorite Movies
Time

Ooh, what a tough question. I have tonnes of favourite films, but I can’t order them. This is ten of my favourite films, listed in no order.

American Psycho (2000)

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

Pulp Fiction (1994)

Reservoir Dogs (1992)

The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

The Thing (1982)

Hot Fuzz (2007)

Boy (2010)

Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

The Big Lebowski (1998)

I really can’t decide which ones I like more, but I consider all of those films masterpieces.

I just finished reading the Splinter of the Mind’s Eye comic adaptation, and while it was okay, I hated how not only does it establish that Luke had actually fought Vader prior to The Empire Strikes Back, but that he was able to best him in combat? What!? How come he is better at fighting before getting Force training? Why do Luke and Vader never refer to this occurance in Empire? Also, why doesn’t Luke use the Kaiburr crystal or ask Halla for help in The Empire Strikes Back? It really messes with the continuity.

Splinter of the minds eye hands down is my most hated piece of EU. As a kid when I read about it in the pre-Disney ultimate visual guide, which detailed the events of the book. And I was soooo confused as a kid. It just messes with so much continuity! That hands down is one of the best pieces of EU that I love was made non-canonical.

I showed my brother the Ultimate Visual Guide yesterday, and he was really confused as well. He was also befuddled that Luke got married to somebody not in the movies and that Han and Leia had children who weren’t Kylo Ren. I then had to explain to him that The Force Awakens takes place in a different timeline to the EU.

It feels less like the PT was scored after TPM and more like Lucas just said “Eh throw in that popular one from the first movie.”

Like the laughable Anakin road trip montage in AOTC that uses Duel of the Fates for some reason.

Oh yeah I love that scene. One of the only scenes in Attack of the Clones that doesn’t make me cringe.

Have you played SWTOR?

No, but I hear that even with the Revan expansion there’s still little to noting to do in the end game so I don’t know if it’s worth it. Looks kind of fun for an MMO though.

Well SWTOR might be officially MMO but MMO related stuff is rather secondary to its storyline (single player) content. Basically I didn’t care about MMO stuff (PVP, end game PVE) or expansions and I kept my interaction with other players to an absolute minimum to maintain the immersion. I would also suggest avoiding any Revan related side story stuff.

If you ever decide to try you shouldn’t worry about having little to do. The original eight characters storyline content is huge. I would suggest trying Imperial Agent or Sith Warrior storylines. In particular, Agent got an universal praise among players.

I may get it if it’s less than 30 dollars.

I think they actually made it free to play at some point. Not entirely sure how it works but I am sure you have some limitations with free to play.

I suggest you check this introductory material (if you haven’t seen it):

Return
Hope
Decived

Galactic History <- they hired Lance Henriksen to narrate these

I really like those cinematic’s. They’re very aesthetically pleasing.

Also, I started playing KOTOR, so soon I’ll be able to judge for myself whether it’s better than TESB or not.

I’ve started playing KOTOR. So far I enjoy it, and I hope it’s greatness is true. Sadly, I’ve had the big twist spoiled for me (I won’t spoil it here), but I hope that the characters I haven’t met yet will be great. Carth, Mission and Zaalbar aren’t particularly interesting characters (those are the ones I’ve met so far). But I like the gameplay, I especially love the RPG system where you can drift to the dark side, the voice acting is pretty alright, and I like how it expands the lore of the Star Wars universe.

Are The Prequels That Bad?
Time

I like the PT. I consider them more than watchable, and I get a lot of entertainment out of them. No, they’re not good, far from it, but I can still put one on and be transported to another galaxy for a couple of hours. I am grateful to all the extra Star Wars material they gave us as well.

Also, when I watched the PT when I was younger, it never occured to me that they had all these new concepts not seen in the OT. When I first watched Attack of the Clones, I was like of course Yoda had a lightsaber, of course all the Jedi have blue and green lightsabers, of course Dooku can have force lightening. I never realised that this was the first movie showcasing these things. I remember being surprised later on when I realised that Yoda never did, nor mentioned having a lightsaber in the OT, or that it was thought that force lightening was a power only the Emperor had.

They’re not terrible. I grew up with them, and have a hearty amount of nostalgia for each one. I recognise the numerous flaws, but I still enjoy watching them. Sometimes (briefly) I’ll watch one and try to convince myself that they are good, as I thought all throughout my childhood (actually, up until mid 2015)

For what it’s worth, I rate them like this:

The Phantom Menace - 5/10
Attack of the Clones - 4/10
Revenge of the Sith - 4/10

I prefer them all to The Clone Wars (2008 movie).

Yeah, Star Wars Tales was awesome … until these issues came out. Then the comic became a dumping ground for multi-issue stories which were “canon” and could’ve been slotted into any of the SW comics Dark Horse was publishing at the time. 80% of the fun was automatically sucked right out of Star Wars Tales with that lameass move.

I’m not at all surprised the title was cancelled shortly thereafter.

Damn, what a disappointment. I hope I enjoy them regardless.

I just read the first six issues of the 1998 Star Wars comic, set in the prequel era. The comics did a good job at fleshing out Ki-Adi Mundi’s character, but it interfere’s with the continuity set up in Attack of the Clones, because it is established in the comics that Ki-Adi has many wives and children whom he cares for greatly, and is allowed to return to his home planet, unlike any other prequel Jedi.

So I watched it again, and still enjoy it, but I don’t think it’s worthy of a nine out of ten anymore. I noticed some more flaws this time, and I think that Jyn Erso, and Felicity Jones’ performance were rather flat. She wasn’t a terrible character, or played terribly, but I think the movie might have worked better if more focus was put on the other characters, like Bodhi or Cassian. I still think the soundtrack is not as good as any of the others, and that it was paced kind of poorly. But I still loved the action, the excitement, most of the characters, I enjoyed the movie in general. I am torn on the C-3PO and R2-D2 cameo, because I enjoy seeing them, though I don’t understand why they aren’t aboard the Tantive IV. I still think that Leia should have been facing backwards the whole time, and that Tarkin should have the screentime of Vader (and vice versa), but it’s still fun seeing all these characters from the OT. At this point, I’d rate it seven out of ten.
