It wouldn’t surprise me if their desire to curb the bootleg market played a small role in their decision, too. Not because they’re losing more than a negligible amount of money from bootlegs and fan preservations, because they’re not, but rather because it looks a little bad for the brand.

All that would need to happen is for a few of our LA members to meet up in disguise outside of LF with some posters saying release the OUT and a loudspeaker. We haven’t tried this yet so it’s worth a shot.

Well I’m just saying that we haven’t tried that option yet. I’m not adamant, I’m just suggesting a different option. Take it or leave it.

who cares disney will never do we have both cleaned and beat 35mm and 16mm film prints already available the colors will not be accurate jedi for example is very blue on endore and in the death star anyone really think a hd version of jedi will be acurite as a 35mm print i dought it
We must strive for Disney to recognise, restore and release the OUT as we have the power. Yes we have great projects but until the OUT is officially released our work will never be done.

I hope the OUT gets a 4K release alongside a Blu Ray release with the SE treated as bonus material this time around. It would only be fair.
Because if they include things to make it one whole “Saga” with explicit links to the PT and the SW Story films it’s unlikely they want any weird stray threads lying around. It’s always been a Special Edition. It’s always been one interconnected series. George Lucas was a genius and this was all part of his original vision. Solo and Rogue One were smooth productions. It’s all one nice brand friendly package and all remnants of the old versions will be swept away.
But, again, what exactly is “three discs per film” supposed to mean other than that one of those discs is gonna be the unaltered version?
I mean, if Lucasfilm just considers it “bonus content” anyway…

I would like to see the SE presented in the lowest resolution while the OUT is presented in 4K UHD with a forced apology from George Lucas on the fourth disc.

As presented, he seems like a noob who knows a couple of tricks and that’s it. He’s symptomatic of the entire First Order really. It’s like the trope of the Empire being inept bad guys has grown into this. At least when things started off, they were a credible threat, even allowing for typical expected things like character shields for the main cast. But yet, somehow, TFA and then TLJ portray the bad guys as taking over the entire galaxy, losing it again, then taking it over again virtually overnight. They’re copying this directly from the EU (“Legends”), but it still sucks. The villains are talented at killing unarmed civilians, but anyone who stands up to them with a weapon is going to take them down a notch or at least leave a mark (Anti-Bullying PSA inserted here)
So not only is Rey OP, but her competition is deliberately dumb, to drive down the tension even more. At this point stuff is happening and its just seemingly random “will of the force” (writer fiat) than anything. That’s why I gave up on the Harry Potter movies (should have read the books instead?). The rules are all up in the air now… which would have been fine if there had not already been several movies before these!
