I’m listening to the TFA soundtrack and I remember sitting in the theater on opening night and getting chills right here. I stayed through the whole end credits, still processing the fact that Star Wars was back.

Okay, I’ll stop gushing over this now.

Kylo Ren Arrives At The Battle is also a very nice piece of music=. One I had been ignoring for a while.

Screw the accent. Unless Mala mails me a keyboard with the accent available with a single push of the button, AND disavows the Daisy Squirrel Face comment, I ain’t including it.

JEDIT: Too slow but my demands stand.

Macs.

Just have to press and hold the a key.

I hadn’t but only because I never thought about it before, because I don’t care.

Thanks for your repeated opinion, Mala.

Oh, wait…

Also my opinion.

MiniMalà.

There was literally no reason to say what everyone already knew.

In the audiobook the narrator pronounces it “Lah-ah-uke”

Also I don’t think I would call it lazy because having Luke fight an insane clone of himself is pretty bold as it’s a pretty out there concept. I think him fighting another Dark Side user who is more machine than man would have been lazy.

It might have been a serviceable concept if it were given time to breathe in The Last Command, but as it is it’s pretty terrible.

I agree that it should have had more development. Luuke came out of fucking nowhere.

Most of Zahn’s writing on the Force makes it feel like a comic book superpower, rather than a spiritual one.

I’m going to need examples because going off my memory he wrote the Force as if…it’s just the Force. Nothing seemed different about it as it was establish in the OT. I’m not even sure how one could discern the difference between a comic book power and a spiritual one.

SW really had one political scene and that is when the officers are discussing the Emperor dissolving the Senate. Everything else we were taught about the political landscape was explained in the opening crawl.

Though I agree with you and also am a lover of TFA I must admit one of my issues with the film was the lack of political context.

Yeah I’m still hoping a deleted scene with yield some information about the political landscape. Has the details of the deleted scenes in the 3D Blu Ray release surfaced yet?

And I may be in the minority on this one but every line of fan service was gold to me. Like I honestly ate it up. I saw no issue with things like:

“Chewie, were home.”
“When did that ever help, and don’t say the Death Star.”

Love these two

“12!”

Idk, to me they are funny, fun lines for the fans.

but not this one. The first two seem very natural while the last one seems very forced. I do however like the “This is the Millennium Falcon!? You’re Han Solo!?” lines though.

EDIT:
Just popped in TFA blu Ray and finished the flick yet again and gotta say…FUCK THE HATE! I love TFA! It’s got problems and it leaves me wanting more but I think that means it did its job well. It makes me await the story of episode 8 even more and eventually all will be made clear. I’m so happy Star Wars is back in stunning fashion. Sorry to get emotional people…just never thought I’d see the big three back on screen again.

Haven’t seen it since May and I eagerly await the time in which I watch it again so I can see if my opinion of the movie still holds up since I haven’t seen it in a while. Also don’t let the hate effect you; just know that the people who hate this are a somewhat small but very vocal minority.

  • Opening crawl
  • First exchange between Vader and Leia (and then with the Imperial officer)
  • The long meeting with Tarkin
  • The Ben/Luke sequence in Ben’s home (with Leia’s message)
  • The Tarkin/Leia sequence
  • And every little thing here and there that give an intuitive knowledge of who’s rulling the galaxy (stormtroopers who basically are the outer rim police; they have street spies; Starships; “that’s the real trick”; etc.)

ANH never lacks any useful information about what’s going on and who’s in charge, political context is in many sequences. It’s always crystal clear, nicely done, never boring or predictable, does not feel “obvious exposition”.

Yeah, now that you put it like that I absolutely agree with you. The real brilliance lies in the fact that a lot of the political stuff is sprinkled in as to not overload the audience with exposition. The movie can somehow never break it’s stride in regards to moving the plot forward and still give us bits and pieces in terms of world building. That’s just great film making.

Okay. I find it more funny when I don’t fact check and then make a fool of myself by going off of my hazy memory on the given subject 😛.

Making a fool of one’s self is not always the case. The best part about taking a shot in the dark is that is when you fact check yourself at a later time and learn that you were spot on anyway 😄
