LOL, that does not look right, if at all possible you might want to change that, looks really strange that way.

It looks a little funny, I know, but it doesn't bother me. If it would be correctly then the superlaser would be right there where the hole is. The picture was like that in many promotional materials:

Just finished watching it, great work Jambe! :)

I agree with Moth3r's points, I had to freeze the frame during the Chief Bast scene. The only other thing that bugged me a little is cropping 4:3 footage to widescreen but I do understand the reason behind it, that's just a petpeeve of mine, LOL.

Now to watch the rest of the trilogy, I've only seen BE twice and RTJ once. Again, excellent work!

"I am wondering.....why are you here?"
Time

I'm here because the original films are treated badly and it seems that this is the only place for people like me who like their stuff original. Also I'm a collector who likes all kinds of old SW things, like videos and nostalgic merchandise from the time when I wasn't even born, so I'm liking the old stuff ie. Puggo's preservations and Jambe's documentarys. I'm not interested in fan edits at all, haven't watched even one of those.

I also like the fact that this is possibly the least moderated forum and still being possibly the smartest forum I've visited. Though a little moderation once in a while wouldn't hurt since there's all kind of crap appear into threads from time to time and some people fill all threads with useless posts...

I figured it had small amounts in its atmosphere, and that's why they needed to carefully harvest it all the time.

That always seemed believable to me.  After all, they only harvest once a season.

At least there are a lot of clouds on Tatooine, maybe too much for a desert planet... Like when 3PO is leaving R2 and in the Sarlacc battle.

This will be even harder to find, but I need an uncropped version of this picture. It is this exact picture, only it is a full body shot. It doesn't need to be terribly big, just not terribly small.

There isn't such thing, that's only a face shot when he's sitting, that image has been cropped from the sides, though.

You sure?, Because I am looking right at it on my old VHS of ROTJ.

Just saw the cover on Video Collector's site.

The pic has been edited combining two pictures, the close-up and a photo where he's coming off the shuttle.

He's a professional in this field, and apparently he has access to a fantastic source. He's mainly restoring the original Star Wars trilogy, but I think he's also making a few very subtle adjustments here and there to stabilize ship movement in some of the space combat and so on. But it's 99% straight restoration/preservation. And he has the skills to do it.

The print looks awesome. I can't believe he's messing with it, though!

How many of you watch the Clone Wars series regularly and what do you think of it?

I recorded the first two seasons but I don't think I will ever watch them again... so I stopped when the 3rd started. I still watch it since there isn't much on TV anyways, it's a good time killer.

Having said that, I don't like it that much. There has been a few interesting scenes like Coruscant underworld but usually it gets spoiled by some stupid plot twist and every ending needs to have a lesson learned, sigh. I almost barfed on the third season when that old clone died in slow-mo. Also it revolves too much among the, well, clones. I mean, who cares about them?? And way too many episodes revolve around politics, the kids must like that so much. Then there has to be some kind of reference to the OT all the time, like the first season was pretty much based on already used lines, luckily they toned that down. And of course, when you start thinking... they want everyone to join the Republic and you think hmm, those kids are going to be slaves for the Empire, how nice...

It does say "Clone" in the title though! ;)

The episode with the rookies fighting off the more deadly and scary battle droids at a lonely outpost was one of the best clone specific stories. I find the "everyman" without supernatural abilities in the SW universe more interesting at times.

I know, that's why the little pause. ;) And I agree, I, too, like more about the "everymen" but clones aren't those. If it would be about real people as stormtroopers, it would be much interesting. But seeing men who have been made from test tubes and theres thousands of them... They're just manufactored soldiers, almost like droids. So droids fighting clones, it just gets boring. If someone gets detroyed, lets make more. I couldn't care less if they all died. So to me, it doesn't work emotionally, no matter how hard they try.

Hell. Yes. LOVE it!

Me too. Only thing I'd change in this particular one is "theatrical" crawl, since ANH was also "theatrical", only later one. IMO it would be better as Star Wars or then 1977 and 1981. Of course the 1981 isn't on V3 but just saying. :) Btw that looks pretty funny with all those tracks, haha. Not many films has that much.

Was there a reason not using the official DVDs as video material, aren't they better?

It's a matter of time and convenience, really

At the moment I am only doing simple transfers of the VHS tapes, a preservation, if you like.

I agree that there are advantages to using the available DVD footage and mixing it with any missing parts found on the tapes. However, at this time I am not prepared to put in the work to do so. Anyone else is free to use this project as a springboard to do exactly that*.

*LexX, keeping this in PAL territory, would you care to give it a shot for inclusion in this release? Anyone? According to Wikipedia, the Ewoks DVD contains footage from episodes 2, 1, 3 and 9 (The Haunted Village)  & eps 10, 5, 4 and 13 (Tales from the Endor woods). Knock yourself out.

I thought pittrek was using your captures and making these complete?

Sorry but I can't do these projects. :( My computer is 7 years old and wouldn't handle it and I have zero knowledge of any video editing, mainly because of my imcompatible PC I haven't even tried... So hopefully someone else can do it.

Seconded.

Speaking of which...

LexX, we still need your help with the recaps.

Also, I need a clean version of the Droids opening. The UK tapes all have a voiceover telling you to buy the other Droids tapes as well, and you have facsimilies of the video covers flying across the screen.

Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXlsXHibsEA&feature=player_detailpage

For the Ewoks series I used the opening from my Norwegian tapes that haven't been tampered with. I'm hoping your Finnish Droids tapes are the same.

If I even ever get a chance... I really hope that I can help you. But what would you be using for audio, DivX? Also, my recorded dubbed Droids consist only from episodes 1-7 and 11-13...

Finnish rental Droids have a clean opening, if the tapes are just in good shape for that part.

Edit: btw, Fritz, what are you using capturing them? They look great so just wondering if I could invest into some equipment.

Edit2: Episode 10 probably won't even have a recap since it starts a new story arc.

I noticed that there seems to be no echo in Emperor's voice, was that change made... when?

I can definitely hear the echo, it's there, just sounds a little weird and different with the higher pitched sound.

Yep, it's all higher pitched, PAL! ;)

Sorry, I guess my volume was too low. :P

You got my little joke, though, right, PAL? ;) Haha.

Of course, PAL! It sounded like Don Johnson in my head, LOL.

So ... boys and girls, what do you prefer ?

To have a clean transfer of the VHS tapes, and putting all the rest as a "bonus feature" or to have all episodes properly re-created to their original broadcast state from best available sources ?

Have all episodes properly re-created to their original broadcast state from best available sources.

Seconded.
