Small details that took you FOREVER to notice in the Star Wars films
Time

During the last scene in ESB Mark Hamill pronounce Tatooine as “Tahtooine” rather than “Tætooine” as most people do.

Have most of us just been saying it wrong all this time, or did Hamill just flub his line? He does give a little pause before saying the name as if he struggled to remember his line.

Does anyone with a better memory than me know how many times the planet name is actually spoken by characters in the OT? I only started thinking about this after Temuera Morrison pronounced Tatooine the same way in the new The Book of Boba Fett promo.

Isn’t that the only time it is spoken in the OT…

It’s fascinating how casually they drop the name, as if we were just supposed to already know who it referred to (not that it’s particularly hard to figure out based on the conversation).

It’s also good storytelling. These days it would have some weird artificial build-up. Kinda like naming Anakin Darth Vader in ROTS.

Jason Wingreen, disintegrated from history by Lucasfilm, for their new doc on Boba Fett

Also, I couldn’t care less about Legos and I don’t even know what you are talking about in the last sentence.

The controversy generated around Slave 1 all came from when the Lego set released and it was just called ‘Boba Fett’s starship’. The story was that Disney were censoring the word ‘slave’ due to its sensitive nature, but it was all completely false. Nothing outside of the world of Lego sets changed. That’s what I know about it anyway.

And I was annoyed at you for bringing up such an idiotic point of discussion when this issue of Jason Wingreen’s work not being recognised is what’s actually being discussed in this thread.

Yes. And my previous respond still stands the same even after your next post. I also couldn’t care less what some guy gets annoyed by.

Mostly this topic seemed to be about the new doc that I haven’t seen and what it did/did not include despite its aggressively clickbait-y title. Not sure what is expected from this topic then, people just crying about the fact what has happened? Yes, it’s sad and probably everyone agrees, but not surprising since he hasn’t been in the official version for 17 years. Anyways, the documentary has been made and it’s out, so that’s that. But yeah, I got the answer to my question, that Slave I didn’t get mentioned either in a full documentary about Boba Fett which didn’t surprise me hence the question. Thanks to Johann for answering so I didn’t have to start a new topic for one yes/no question.

I only asked because that name is also getting the shaft from Disney, along with slave Leia.

I think an actor’s work being erased, overlooked and forgotten about by an official documentary is a little more important than a Lego set being titled ‘Boba Fett’s Starship’, yes.

Especially since that’s the naming process for all Star Wars Lego sets. I don’t remember you being up in arms when the Havoc Marauder got “renamed” as the Bad Batch Attack Shuttle, for example.

I truly apologize for asking a question, didn’t know that’s prohibited these days on a discussion forum and is considered to be “up in arms”. LOL!

Star Wars releases you previously disliked, but now like or enjoy?
Time

I don’t think any SW release has grown on me more over time. Of course I appreciate different things as an adult than when I was a kid but if I still like something it’s because I liked it in the first place. Unfortunately many things have the exact opposite arc like many others have when first they like or at least try to like all SW and then they realize they’re fooling themselves. E.g. I haven’t watched the prequels in 15 years and it has actually made me appreciate the OT even more like I initially did. The ST had a very quick dropoff from thinking TFA was meh and now disliking it firmly, and now I have only seen TLJ twice and TROS once. I guess I could give them one back to back viewing at some point but they do not interest me in the least.

Does anyone here own WW84? Is the image really supposed to be some kind of 80s throwback where you can see static flashes dozens of times and weird light lines going through the image like you’re watching some CRT/VCR thing? I have 2 copies and they both have the same issues. I didn’t find any review that says this is supposed to happen. I also did not see the movie in the theatre so I don’t know what it supposed to look.

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread

I think she sounds bitter and spiteful more than anything else. Like the guy who played Boba Fett for the Jabba scene in ANH whining about the name of Fett’s ship. OK, maybe not that bad…

Still, I find her critiques paper-thin more than anything else.

Those are pretty much the same critiques anyone has had if they have had any. There are always people who take critique as bitterness if they can make a possible reason why whatever the subject would be. I can’t see how the fundamental flaws of the films are paper-thin.

Prediction for Star Wars X, XI, and XII

Actually, I used to think Episodes 10-12 were inevitable, but now I don’t. Lucasfilm is definitely going to be putting more time into Disney+ shows from here on out, and while both spinoff movies were outperformed by all three ST movies, I don’t think that has anything to do with them being spinoffs. It just doesn’t look like they have a reason to make an Episode 10.

Just give it time, it is inevitable. Like there was no interest in the Matrix after the trilogy and 20 years later there will be a fourth one. I’m surprised if there is no Episode X in the next 50 years. At the same time I really don’t want it to happen.

Speaking of small details, does anyone still know what the intercom voice says here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKs0iI68Rx8&t=30s
I have some idea but I still don’t know for sure what he says.

“Media Squad, prep your team and check any power (powdered?) supplies.”

Maybe. The sounds change based on what I’m expecting to hear.

That’s a tough one. I couldn’t make out anything at first, but now think NeverarGreat is very close.

 • “… squad, prep your team and check …” sounds spot on.
 • “Media” has the right sound, but the context doesn’t fit. Due to the sudden cut to this scene, perhaps there’s something before the “edia” sound that was lost in the editing?
 • My ears hear different vowel sounds (as well as a different rhythm) at the end: I don’t think it’s “power supplies”, but confess not to have a better suggestion at present.

Someone once suggested it’s meteor squad but I don’t know if that makes any more sense.

I’ve come close to: Perimeter squad, report your team to check gate 90 fox. That doesn’t make sense…

Also, for some reason, I thought Han’s line “He’s the brains, sweetheart!” was actually “Leave the brains, sweetheart!”

I heard it “Peas for brains, sweetheart!” LOL.

Movies/TV officially released for free (YouTube, Vimeo, etc. finds)
Time

I know that this forum isn’t really the target audience, but the full series and spin-off of the popular H2O: just add water is available on YouTube and even with different languages: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVIVA48Td4JUKj1yBIy_mCg It’s a well produced Australian teen show of mermaids that’s funny and good family entertainment. For such a good show with millions of viewers I’m surprised it’s fully on YT.
