Anyway, here’s a good link that ā€˜explained’ it all back then. I didn’t see this at the time, but I note from the comments below that someone did spot this anomaly in C3PO’s last moments. - io9.gizmodo.com/so-now-we-know-how-c-3po-got-his-red-arm-in-the-force-a-1770741572

Here’s a better link and a nice bedtime story by the man himself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOuF2yh1lKU&t=47m15s

Sorry about the off topic, I just enjoyed his reading even though the story itself is a bit mushy.

One of your moderators seems to have agreed with me. Shrug.

I’m gonna have to agree with you here. Trailers are spoilers, and they should be discussed in the spoiler thread.

Then you can pretty much lock this thread up because there is zero to talk about a movie that no one knows nothing about. What are you looking to find in this thread then? The trailers haven’t spoiled anything yet you wouldn’t know in December before seeing the movie.
Oh and spoiler alert: they manage to steal the plans.

They didn’t dust off an old Artoo for TFA, and even built a new improved Threepio suit for Anthony Daniels, so I can’t imagine using anything left over from Episode III now. Heck, they could have easily used the actual burned Vader mask from ROTJ, and they didn’t.

Of course I don’t mean the actual worn suit from 12 years ago but the ā€œROTS versionā€ that was used with its stupid weird helmet and non-accurate armor or anything that makes you think about that. And I almost don’t even want to go there but there better be a different guy inside. But I’m pretty confident that they avoid these mines.

I agree wholeheartedly. I’m wary of spoiler threads because they can be havens for actual leaks. I’d like to discuss a film and the official promotional material released for it without risking getting legitimately spoiled.

If you’re so paranoid that you avoid trailers than you really have no business in a thread dedicated to the film anyway.

Exactly. And if you can’t talk about the trailers there really isn’t anything to talk about until we see the movie. I haven’t seen the ComicCon reel though, and I avoided the TFA one for that too. I’ve also already seen the poster up at a local cinema, I really like it and got very excited!

But yeah, the reveal wasn’t very unpredictable but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t great because it was. He just seemed very small? I hope they don’t use the ROTS suit or anything that makes you think about the last time he was on the screen, ugh.

The Original Trilogy restored from 35mm prints (a WIP)

The image seems to have same kind of brownish noise that Verta showed in his videos. Is there something you can do about them?
How’s the thing going, is there any ETA for it? For example, for a Rogue One marathon or something… 😃 TESB only has the grindhouse version released so it sticks out pretty bad compared to SW and ROTJ scans.

IIRC, we were talking about the TFA trailers in the TFA non-spoiler thread. So we can talk about them in here, too, right? I was thinking for a second to try to avoid the trailer if it gets too spoilery but just going to FB made it play automatically and all over YouTube there are images and reviews and whatever crap for a trailer, jeez.

The trailer was cool and not very spoilery. Well, we all do know what the movie is about. It really felt like a Dark Forces type movie. What did you think about the ā€œrevealā€ at the end? I got spoiled with that some time ago. I shouldn’t watch any SW videos on my account because then I get ā€œrecommendationsā€ for dozens of people who talk about their SW feelings, who cares. Anyways, I think we are allowed now to talk about it, right?

To Live and Die in L.A. (1985): Opinions?

I also enjoy this movie very much. It’s a great 80s film and is held as ā€œthe best Michael Mann movieā€ that he obviously didn’t direct. Great music, one of the best car chases, great cinematography. I don’t see any similarity to Blade Runner though, it’s just Miami Vice in L.A.
I can see where both of you are coming from. I agree a little that it came a little surprisingly that Vucovich suddenly took a 180 but I’m okay with Chance dying. I don’t like the flashbacks either, there’s even a weird one after the credits.
Btw, this movie takes a loooong time to introduce Chance, I think his name is first said like over an hour into the movie?

The algorithm more or less ā€œlistensā€ (there are a lot of different ways to do this, but it works similarly to how Cortana or Siri work) to the file and then matches what it ā€œhearsā€ to the sound of words it knows.

It seems to swing towards political and news stuff, so those are probably things it hears a lot so it favors those.

Off topic, but how on Earth this kind of algorithm helps anyone? If you were deaf you’d be better off just guessing by yourself. It’s just a ridicilous thought that someone has actully published the entire system and been serious.

Are there any possibilities to change the GOUT subs into SE timings? I’d be happy to help filling the blanks.

The issue is probably added dialogue more than retiming.

Yes, but if you do the same re-timings on every language, you just have to fill the blanks that are missing instead of doing all subs from scratch. There are people from different countries on this forum who can easily translate a couple of lines for completion, I’d say we could get easily a dozen full SE subs just by ourselves. And even with blank spaces, they would be better than nothing.

And sorry, I don’t speak Castellano. šŸ˜„

The GOUT subs has the crawl in all the languages so I bet it could be synched into these as well as the Vader and Emperor talk in ESB and removing the abominable ā€œWesa free!ā€ at the end of ROTJ if it’s in the subs. If there are any other differences I forgot please inform us. 😃

There was at least the added 3PO line in SW in the sandcrawler.
