YouTube/Vimeo/etc... Star Wars video finds
Time

you said "fanny"

Fanny  [?fæn?]

n pl -nies Slang

1. Taboo Brit = the female genitals

2. Chiefly US and Canadian = the buttocks

[perhaps from Fanny, pet name from Frances]

Usage: Despite the theory that this word derives from the name `Fanny', its use in British English is still considered taboo by many people, and is likely to cause offence. In the US the word refers to the buttocks. Serious misunderstanding may therefore arise when what people in Britain know as a `bumbag' is referred to in the US as a `fanny pack'

you said "abode"

Abode

(formal) A residence, dwelling or habitation.

you said "castillo"

it means "castle" in spanish.

The correct sentence would be, "lol funny show, that was Abbott and Costello."

Puccini's Manon Lescaut's "Intermezzo"  synced with the Binary Sunset scene, more or less: https://vimeo.com/49986231

It feels really different, but nevertheless fascinating. With some careful editing the whole movie could be edited like that, replacing the music with the temp track.

To put it in perspective, did Orson Welles ever digitally insert the Beatles on the 25th anniversary rerelease of Citizen Kane, and insisted that it was his intention all the time back in 1941?...

That would've been awesome :)

"Hey mister, can we have our ball back?"

"Don't worry about me, Lennon!!! I'M CHARLES FOSTER KANE!!!!
I'm going to send you to Sing Sing! Sing Sing, Lennon! SING SIIIIIIIIING!"

"We love Charlie yeah, yeah, yeah...."
"You buy Ringo a bag of peanuts and you get a song written about you!"

Two more attempts!

Those look (and sound) great! [Did you use Harmy's?]

Both of them have a few points where you wonder if a different recording, slightly different in tempo or timing or whatever, would synchronize better. It's probably impossible to figure out which version they threw in there originally though, and frankly I'm surprised that certain moments match as well as they do. So I'll live with that.

Yeah, I almost went mad trying to find the trailer's version of Vivaldi's Winter. Not only it was slowed down to hell, it had to have a certain tempo, the cellos had to play at a certain volume, and it had to have the right harpsichord notes (which apparently were not written for this piece so they are "improvised" with every performance). Also, it was chopped down to fit the action.

Just like I did with this video of mine. Mind you, it's an experiment in editing. Basically I just played around with the official and alternate footage, and tried to imagine how it would have played had they used this jazz score. Also, you'll notice during the Greedo scene I tried to fill in some of the dialogue that was missing. I apologize if it sounds crap.

Or perhaps you'd like to see them synced. https://vimeo.com/49975294

This is already great as it is, but I'd love to see it overlayed on this,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxXormkENVI

with voices and effects intact. The black and white really adds to it :)

Tried that, and the sync wasn't nearly as good IMHO. I don't think it was the right length, etc. Given that that's from an early cut of the film and Williams would have been given the final cut, such a sync probably never even happened.

I'm working on it as we speak, I shall have some fun editing this. :)

I'll obviously cut and snip here and there to make it fit...

This is a really important find to me. For many reasons people seem to remember very well the cantina scene and part of that is due to the score. I for one love the Cantina song as it's so different from the other orchestral pieces, yet somehow fits in perfectly into the movie; I've wanted to hear the inspiration for this piece for ages. Now if we could find something about Cantina song #2, the piece that plays during the Ben/Han conversation...

Got a "new" hard drive off ebay for this old HP laptop I got. The previous 40 gb hdd went kaput, so I got this slightly used 100 gb. "Oh goody" I thought to myself.

Hah!

Mount drive into the laptop. Light flashes. Good.

Bios says "HDD?? What HDD??"

Huh. Change jumper position.

Nope.

Tried inserting Xp install disc. Everything went perfect, it recognized the drive and actually installed Windows. Then came the time to reboot, to finalize the installation. Reboot. Bios says "What HDD??"

Damn!

Quick online search says maybe I need to update the bios. Mmh. Sounds plausible.

Went to Hp.com and found my laptop model.

....

Turns out the utility they make you download to update the bios......

only works under Windows.

In reality George Lucas gave the OOOT obsessors exactly what it was that they wanted in 2004. He gave the smug, obnoxious little punks and hipsters and criminals the exact thing that they were illegally selling and shearing and downloading and bootlegging and he gave it to them on a convenient dvd. And no matter what you try to say YES it was the best quality possible. For THAT particular version of the films it is the only way to watch them. That particular version was not ever restored/changed to be able to properly watch on a 50'' flat screen. It was/is only watchable on a tube tv. Thats the whole point Lucas was trying to make when he released it in 2004. You wanna see it so bad? Ok tell ya what ill do Ill make it so you dont have to be forced to watch it on vhs anymore and you dont even have to be forced to watch it on a computer screen anymore. You can watch it on a dvd on a big screen tube tv. Flat screen, HD tvs did not even exist when this was made, it was made to be seen on a movie projector or a tube tv screen. Thats it.
Normally, ignorance would just receive my silent pity.
But a person that displays such a degree of ignorance while film history is being suppressed just deserves a fist in the face. Plain and simple. This guy's understanding of technology obviously does not go beyond "putting 2 carrots in a blender", and even that must be a tiring task for his poor 5 gram brain, you must remember to put the cover back on and get your hands out of the container.
And this is what's happening. All these braindead twits are just accepting what's being shoved into their mouths or they just crap out nonsensical arguments (I don't know which one is worse) to justify what in reality is a very, very simple thing.
At this moment in time, it is impossible to see three movies as released in '77, '80 and '83 in the current modern home video format. And this is not because "they were made for tube tvs"... THEY WERE NOT SHOT ON TAPE FFS!!! Millions of movies were shot on 35mm film and are now available in High Definition. Hell, "Manos" was shot on 16mm and is being scanned in HD as we speak!!
If they had been shot on tape, where do they think the extra resolution would have come from, when making the latest Super Duper Extra Deluxe Special Editions on BluRay??? Magic??? The Force™???
They call us "smug, obnoxious little punks and hipsters and criminals "? Well I call them ignorant **********s.

Last song you listened to.
Time

Day after day alone on the hill
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still
But nobody wants to know him
They can see that he's just a fool
And he never gives an answer

But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning round

Well on the way, head in a cloud
The man of a thousand voices is talking perfectly loud
But nobody ever hears him
Or the sound he appears to make
And he never seems to notice

But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning round

And nobody seems to like him
They can tell what he wants to do
And he never shows his feelings

But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning round

Oh, oh, oh

Round 'n round 'n round 'n round 'n round

And he never listen to them
He knows that they're the fools
They don't like him

The fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning round

Oh, round 'n round 'n round 'n round 'n round

Oh!

Been listening to this whole record a lot lately. I really hope I can get a hold of the tickets for next wednesday's special screening of MMT.

Cookie MOnsters favorite jokes!
Time

A little kid at home answers the phone.

He whispers into the receiver "Hello?"

-"Hello? Is that you?"

[ still whispering]  -"Yeah."

-"Could you put your mommy through, please?"

[whispering] - "She's not here"

-"Well, what about your daddy?"

[whispering]  -"He's not here either"

-"Where are your parents?"

[whispering]  -"Mommy's in the basement..."

-"And your dad?"

[whispering]   -"Daddy's.... on the roof."

-"Well.... could you get me your sister?"

[whispering]  -"She's not here."

-"Where is she?"

[whispering]   -"She's down at our swimming pool."

-"And your brother?"

[whispering]  -"He's in the garden."

-"What ARE they doing???"

[whispering] -"Looking for me!"
