Massive overreaction ahoy!

"Yes, doc, errrr.. I've had that dream again... That french guy kept showing me pictures of flemish paintings with bare bottoms in them... and I went bezerk! I was worried about my work, and my family... I just woke up in a cold sweat, doc. I'm... I'm puzzled, doc, what...what..whu... what shall I do??"

I like this part:
Ignore anything TV's Frink says.
I bet your favorite food is dry white toast.
I'd like four fried chickens, and a coke.
Excuse me Ryan, I think you mean Billy Wilder. Although Gene is good too. ;)
Okay, let's get the obvious joke out of the way: who carved George Washington's head?
Yeah, I loved her in that. She looked like a psycho!
ahaha Frink is ooolldddd, lllllingerrr lllongerrrr!! ;P
So, let me see if I got this straight:
to capture PAL content, firewire should be ok. To capture anything else that requires a chroma subsampling ratio other than 4:2:0, get a capture card. Is this correct?
I'm pretty sure I have the PAL version of Digital Video Essentials, so that was a PAL signal I was feeding to the camera. I'm going to make further tests using my DVD recorder. Hopefully the picture will be better.
My goodness that looks just like Blondie!
Okay, I went and did a test.
The file below is the result of:
3 test cards --> PAL DVD compliant MPEG2 file on a usb flash drive --> Philips DVD Player with USB port --> RCA Composite out --> DV Camcorder In --> Firewire port --> Dv Capture with Virtual Dub --> Interlaced Mp4 (thanks Ripbot264!)

I gotta admit, this DVD Player has quite the crappy composite. I think the audio buzzes too, along with the video.
JEDIT
Sorry again for hijacking the thread, but apparently this DVD Player is utter crap.

This is probably a dumb question, but here goes:
I have a minidv camcorder hooked up to my firewire port. Using the camera's "Edit mode" I can capture whatever I want through a simple RCA connection. I don't record to tape, I just capture straight to the computer.
How does my setup compare to any of these capture cards?
Colonel Overlook?
That's too bad, I liked the site in its previous incarnation, what with the reviews, tips and tricks, and most of all multiple screenshots for the same game, to showcase differences between platforms.
Let's hope for the best.

Thanks. Even if I don't use it, that was cool to hear.
You're welcome. Did you hear the whole set? These all come from the master tapes, apparently they were supposed to be part of a new and more complete OST release, but the project died, and the engineer put them online for the world to hear.
No. Way. Jim looks weird in that haircut, now, he's too old.
Done. :)
As requested, repost from Off Topic:
Here's a version of "I Can't Turn You Loose" from the original master tapes that doesn't contain audience noise.

Frink, there's a version here without audience noise. It's from the original multitrack tapes.

Yes, they did. Just put them side by side and you'll see.
That could just very well be a decoy, we know it's you, Indy! Come on, don't be shy! :)
Are you Harrison Ford? Can I have your autograph?
so it should look a little something like this, then: (see the "T" shape made of dots?)
Well, something like that CAN be fixed, luckily.
