An eruption was caused by the earthquake, though, right?

Wiki sez:

Link to eruption of Etna

Although there are reports of an eruption at the time of the earthquake, most sources suggest that the volcano had been inactive since the destructive eruption of 1669. Analysis of the relationship between eruptions and earthquakes has found that earthquakes are followed by long periods without activity in the 'rift zones' that extend out to north and south from the summit. Estimates of coulomb stress transfer due to the dyke intrusion in the rift zones associated with the 1669 eruption, suggest that this could have helped to trigger the 1693 earthquake, by increasing stress levels on the faults.

Anyway, the event passed on to history as "The 1693 Earthquake" because that's what caused death and destruction. There was a bloody tsunami, too.

Etna coughs and sputters all of the bloody time, in fact it could be erupting as we speak and we wouldn't notice. Our main concern is the ashes. I've swept black dirt out of my garage lord knows how many times.

A.D. 1693: Mt. Etna, Sicily, erupts.

Important because people died and stuff.

Correction. It was the huge earthquake that did it. It shook the entire south east of the island. Roughly 60 thousand people died between friday 9th and sunday 11th. Cities were abandoned, I've visited the ruins of the ancient town of Noto, I've been there twice now. It is bone chilling to walk among those rocks and think that just a few centuries ago people used to live there.

On the other hand, we owe to the earthquake a magnificent collection of baroque art, mostly churches.

Needed Help Digitizing VHS Tape
Time

I think someone on this board might be interested in your material, if it hasn't been captured already.

The problem is, I have pretty mediocre equipment. I bought a $20 capture device off Amazon and have an old VHS player that's probably worth $10.

Yeah, that's not going to produce the best results. But then again, not everybody can afford to spend hundreds of bucks just to capture a vhs or two.

Mostly though, the trouble lies in the digitizing equipment. I see in your photo an "EZ Grabber". I have no idea how is the quality on those, I've read that almost general consensus is "internal capture card good, usb capture bad".

When trying to capture the VHS the tracking on the VCR is not very good. The audio will often fuzz out or the screen will flicker blue. Does anybody have a good idea how to fix this or optomize my capture using the equipment I have?

That sounds like your vcr's heads might be a little dirty. I used to clean them up by playing a tape we had at home that we had specifically assigned to the task. It wasn't one of those "head cleaner tape" dealies, either, it was just some documentary about Moscow.

Different software could potentially also produce better results. What program are you using to capture?

I'm by no means the greatest expert, I'd like to hear what our vhs-savvy members have to say.

An incredibly infamous clip from "Silent Night, Deadly Night 2", one of the crappiest films ever made. The first movie was bad enough, this sequel was made just for the shits and giggles, I'd imagine.

You may hate the man's films but you gotta feel at least a little sorry for him after that...

 mmmh.... naaaaahhh.

If you can't say a few words in public -and I mean really, a couple of words, the prompter fails? just bullshit your way through it! - you're no communicator, and in no position to be directing pictures worth gazillions of dollars. I may not have a cent in my pockets, but I'm laughing anyway.

EDIT: I've noticed that Leonardo has been viewing this topic from time to time. Are you following along Leo, or just popping in once in a while? And would you be interesting in playing sometime, or do you prefer the sidelines?

Just my compulsory habit of viewing every thread.
Thanks for the offer, but I don't think I will be able to play.

I never have, do not, and never will watch porn, so I am safe from any such hypocrisy.

EDIT: As in I am not hypocritical in that way.

You miss a lot off really good dialogs.

There is a german Porn, a women... lightly dressed... brings some repairman down in a basement, where a defect fuse box is. He is wearing a mask.  Under the electrical box there is a heap of straw. The dialoge (I translated it for your convenience :) ):

she: "And here is the defect electrical box."

he: "Why is a heap of straw lying around?"

she: "Why do you wear a mask?"

he: "well.. uhm.. blow me."

That is hilarious.

I know I'm in a minority but I don't really get the point of a plot in porn. All I watch is x minute clips, I'm not going to watch and pretend to follow a 90 minute "story"... But there you go, different strokes.
