Since the "archival"-disc uses seamless branching to sport all 3 versions, maybe that causes some trouble with ripping it...

By the way, THIS is how an official preservation release should look like. And as Ridley Scotts states in the letter that's coming with the set "I've included all versions of the film, so that you can watch the one you prefer." I wish Lucas would think like that!

According to the "Schnittbericht" the blood was originally shot, and only digitally erased for the theatrical cut. So I assume most of the time it's the original versions of the shots.

Yeah, right, 400 Episodes... "The Simpsons" have just crossed Episode 400, and that's after 19 years and 19 seasons... I don't think - no, I KNOW that 400 episodes of SW won't happen. 19 Years of a SW-series? C'mon.

JD, did you get the awesome "The Art of Ralph McQuarrie"-book? It features a lot of SW-related paintings McQuarrie did, especially some of them in earlier versions than the ones found in most books... if you're interested I can provide you with an overview.

One of the first peeks I got from the actual filming of Episode 1 was a report about Liam Neeson being filmed in a swamp area, which turned out to be Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan escaping the tanks on Naboo. When I've read the report though, I always envisioned that swamp as dark and moody as Dagobah was... probably at night, blueish lighting, a lot of fog. Well, it turned out to be a rather lush green and sunny scene...

Actually I think since Lucas always stated that the prequels were going to be darker than the OT, "Empire" and especially the Dagobah sequences were what I've based my basic expectations for the prequels on in terms of atmosphere. Several dark and very moody paintings by Ralph McQuarrie (especially of Imperial City on Coruscant) supported this... and even now, when looking at McQuarrie's concept art, I wish that was how the prequels looked.

Well, regarding that the "Star Wars Soundtrack Anothology" had a 4th disc containing alternate versions of several tracks, it might be 1 CD for each movie and 1 for each trilogy containing alternates... of course 1 CD per movie wouldn't be enough, so it's still something different I guess.

That title might actually work if this project was more about the terrible battles Lucas has to fight against the studio(s) to get SW made, but I think with a project like this, which focuses more on the design- and production-side of the film, you've gotta use a title that comes more from that direction.

Uhm... what exactly works fine? Sure, the link on DVDHolocron works fine for me as well... but it doesn't take me to Rapidshare, but to your thread a FE.org... and there are no RS-links in that thread.

Do I misunderstand you?
