I can't link to it anymore, but a while back they removed SW:R from their database because he was profiting from it by requesting donations.

Yeah.

And I see what you did there, Bingo.  I wish I could deny it. ;-)

Yeah, there was something about fanedit and get a free hard drive, software blah blah blah..

Well, what's his nutz was saying he'd discuss this stuff when Anti-Matter returned. My guess is as soon as he got caught up on the goings-on, it was a simple decision for him. In all likelihood, based on what we've seen from their site, I suspect he would have squashed this little test of yours at the beginning if he had been there.

The project threads are timestamped on the forum but it was quicker to just give them the edit pages.

Also, I've edited the thread title to make it slightly less inflammatory. ;-)

But who's to say that those haven't been digitally manipulated so as to appear as if they are older, when the were in fact just released last week?!?

Deleted scenes on the 2011 BD...
Time

Very interesting.

Something that I found very interesting is the comparison shot of the Wampa. Not only is the arm fixed, but note the color difference between the two shots, it appears that they really may have taken the color timing complaints to heart.

Obviously we're still stuck with things like Han not shooting first and the cartoon additions into VI, but the saber work, color timing and audio work seem promising, at least based the write-up. Most OT deleted scenes in HD is also very promising. I'm guessing just about everything but the Tatooine footage will be HD, but he definitely indicated that there would be IV footage in HD, so perhaps footage of Vader on the SD, Leia's reaction after Alderaan will be HD (even if a bit scratchy).

Thanks for posting none.

So I read the first two pages, and the page leading up to the infamous post #88 and I for the life of me cannot see why it devolved. Everything seems fairly standard discourse on a fanedit thread, ideas being discussed, points raised, then either accepted or denied for reasons which Anti-matter typically provided reasonable explanations..  then out of the blue the blue he announces he's taking this toys and going home. Once that happened all hell broke loose but before then it just makes no sense at all. Granted I wasn't here at the time but it truly seems like it came out of the blue.

Well, I mean.. you saw Vader's skeleton outlined by the lightening. It may have been 'unfocused' but it was clearly causing serious problems since we could see his freaking skull.. not to mention just a split second of uncontrolled electrical surge is enough to fry my computer, I'm not really shocked that 4 seconds of sustained, unregulated, high voltage would screw his portable life support system.

<edit> also, the Emperor wasn't directly trying to kill Luke, he was toying with him, torturing him. I always assumed (admittedly with no evidence) that when Vader picked him up, Palpatine dialed the juice up to 11. /edit.

But that's just me.

for me, the thing that is good about the PT is that despite it's many, many flaws, it still provides context for the characters, their arcs, and history, and at least for me, made Jedi a better movie (no, not because the PT sucked) because it made the emotional climaxes more fulfilling..

I'm no expert on these, but of the one's listed at FE:

TMBTM's 30's Serial edits: Oct 2008

Lewis886's Rise of the Empire: October 2007

Blankfist's The Fall of the Republic: June 2007

I'm no Rebecca Black, but my understanding of the basic function of calendars leads me to believe that these came first.

But I have been known to be wrong...

From time to time..

(never understood why a few seconds of force lightning should kill him).

Because the lightning caused his breathing apparatus to malfunction.

I have read that explanation several times and it makes sense, but I still think it should have been mentioned better in the movies or the damage by the emporer shoudl have been made more obvious. That's why I listed it as one of my main flaws of ROTJ.

As a 12 year old, I clearly understood that the lightening damaged his life-support system beyond repair and that it was failing him.

Also, I would not consider the Rancor pit among Jedi's pros. Absolutely everything about that sequence is just horrible except for the solo shots of the creature. The effects are miserable, and the story-board is inane and unsatisfying. This is the best that Jedi Luke Skywalker could do? Super-let down.

Wow! Thanks AF.

It's always a joy when people notice/enjoy the more nuanced changes such as trimmed dialog and pacing improvements. I'm particularly pleased that the fireside scene worked for you. As I've noted on the board at FE, it's one of those story points I am really insistent on. I agree that it would be better if the scene were longer, but for me it works as it is, and I'm glad at least one other liked it too!

Would you mind if I copied your review over to the page at .info?

Thank you for the great feedback, and you bring up some compelling points. The most intriguing of them is the moment before the arena.

Regarding your question about High Def. Frink has been lobbying me to do HD since Shadow of the Sith. I'm not opposed to the prospect of replicating my edits in HD once the blu-rays come out, but I've yet to create an edit from an HD source, and because I edit on a Mac, the current time it takes to create editable files is staggering, and even then, the methods for creating AVCHD disks, as far as I understand it, are limited/problematic.

While I make no promises, my plan is that once I wrap Episode III, I'll look into editing something non-SW in HD. If I can successfully create an edit, I will likely then see about recreating Episodes I - III sometime in 2012. There are at least 3 projects which I want to work on before stepping back into Star Wars editing, so it won't be any time in the near future.

Thanks!

L8

Ahhhh.. yes.

First no worries, I just couldn't tell what your complaint about Jango was, so I didn't know if I had addressed it :)

I have the same complaints about the Jango subplot, but unfortunately there is no way that I can see which negates this serious gap. No matter how you look at it, a clone army ordered by a dead Jedi Master in secret, based on a Bounty Hunter obviously hired to assassinate a leading Senator is a huge red flag. There simply isn't enough footage resolve the gaping problem (IMO). For me I chalk it up to logic fails that plague even the OT, such flying directly to the Rebel Base after escaping the Death Star while knowing that Falcon has a homing beacon somewhere on board. Wait, wut?

My strategy was simply improve his scenes as best as possible.
