Extended Han/Leia kiss? š
[shocking images]
I mean come onā¦
holy crap
oh no
You can see here, the Obi-Wan plotline orbiting the Rebels extended universe
To none of my surprise, this is not going to be a show about a desert-dwelling Obi-Wan. Iāll check it out, but if Ben has a cute droid sidekick that he talks to, Iām turning it off.
TFA has the coda where Rey leaves the main plot to find her hope, and TLJ would have the coda where Kylo Ren leaves the main plot to pursue a new power.
And TROS has both of them riding off into the sunset!
Oh wait no thatās not it š¦
Iāve only gone through half of the cutlist, but so far, all I can say is: yeeeaaaaa! and also:
I want the Rey/Ben kiss.
I agree
hah, I also noticed the slightly red tie thing while watching, but didnt say, because I thought it was just something to do with my screen š
You know, Iām pretty burned out on this movie, Iām still heartbroken over how it leaves the universe with a whole load of nothing, but I hope everybody who worked on this feels accomplished, because this thing you all have created from TROS is definitely a grand accomplishment and Iām so glad to have witnessed it happening real time š
omit the ācaptain huxā change?
Heās definitely gonna pick up some power converters and I hate it.
Hey, hereās something I found on reddit: https://vimeo.com/647991392
Itās the death star II throne room scene, but with a kind of different pace and tone and uses some behind-the-scenes footage (1 min 18 sec)
And I feel like itās fixable by having his underlying motive be to exploit the power of their Force Dyad all along.
What somehow makes more sense and is also even more of a head scratcher is the fact that that kinda was the idea during the writing (editing?) stageā¦
JEDIT:
Also, I understand that it is settled and binned š, but just in case I was not clear in my force ghost post, this was my ultimate suggestion:
what are peopleās thoughts on having JUST BEN as a force ghost for that shot, replacing Mark and Carrie entirely
Also, can I just say how much I appreciate Hal providing the community with just about the maximum possible amount of the āfanedit resourcesā he used for his edit, all in an accessible place for other editors to utilize? Just helps highlight the collaboration of it.
Yea, but not baffling. Palpatine called him Skywalker
I donāt know if this is the right thread, but a thought I had recently about Benās ghost:
This idea never quite sat right with me, and I now realize it isnāt just because it breaks the ātwin sunsā symmetry⦠And I think in principle, having Benās ghost is a good idea. In Jedi, Luke and his dad have a one-on-one convo before he dies. Then, when he sees the ghosts hanging out, heās looking at his former masters and someone who belongs in their generation (much older than Luke). Three old guys who are dead, that each taught Luke something, in a way.
Rey and Ben on the other hand, are contemporaries! They also didnāt have a conversation before Ben died. So to me it seems weird that sheās looking off at her former masters AND Ben, who, really, doesnāt quite ābelongā in the afterlife. If anything, it would seem more appropriate that Luke+Leia and Ben appear to her separately (Iām not suggesting this, because it would not really be possible to implement). Vader gets to die with some dignity after leading most of his life as an evil murderer. This isnāt Benās story. As per the movie, Rey and Kylo are two that are one. They share an spiritual intimacy (per the movie!) that I think is broken by the three-Skywalker shot. It just seems so distant. āForget all that dyad stuff, Rey, Iām hanging out with my mom and uncle now, byeeeā
Again, might not be the right thread, but with the assumption that some years down the line the edit will be revisited š ⦠what are peopleās thoughts on having JUST BEN as a force ghost for that shot, replacing Mark and Carrie entirely?? So instead of Rey getting adopted, weād get a kind of force marriage?
Episode IX
THE RISE OF SKYWALKERSupreme Leader Kylo Ren has traveled to Mustafar in search of a hidden power that would allow him to destroy any threat to his rule over the First Order.
Guarded by the fearsome creature THE WEBBISH BOG, the elusive Sith Wayfinder would lead the way to their homeworld.
With the Webbish Bogās warning about Kylo Ren discovering his true self on the path ahead, he has begun to slaughter the Wayfinderās ancient guardiansā¦
Ah, the old [footage missing] workaround!
I feel like I have to counterbalance this with my own view which is that I concur with what has been said before: those two shots, as they are currently, donāt flow from one to the other, particularly the forest is not apparent in the castle shot. I like the 3 shot one better, although it isnāt perfect. But from what I remember, most planets get like 3 establishing shots in this movie (or at least several) anyway
Sounds tacked on to me (but then again, I donāt like the change anyway⦠I think having a more generaly general above him is enough to get across that heās not as high up in the hierarchy anymoreā¦)
I am once again asking for a l i n k to your expanded edition
Is he specifically not pulling them in because the knights are on their asses anyway and they end up leading the FO to Kijimi?
^ALLOL. And I agree. Endlessly frustratingly fascinating thing, this movie
But they were nobody. Even TROS confirms that
It certainly wants you to believe that. But if you found out that one of your parents (parents who died when you were little and apparently led unremarkable lives), say, your dad, was actually Hitlerās kid (or, for a more canon-accurate example, a clone of Adolf Hitler!) and gave his life to protect you from Hitler, would you really insist that your parents were nobodies? Rey certainly doesnāt
ayoo Iām always down for another Dom workprint
love this

Man, we should have got Colin Trevorrowās Episode IX. That showed how Rey could be the perfect balance of anger, sadness, fear, love and the rest of it. We would have finally got that issue sorted out!
Exactly why I consider that script my canon episode IX. Interestingly also, because of the many writersā different interpretations, some have, counter to Lucas, also suggested pretty much what Trevorrow did (DOTJ, if Iām not misremembering), that the PT jedi were flat out wrong in their dogma. Perhaps those heading the story group disagree⦠š Hopefully this doesnāt derail the thread, ha
ā¦In retrospect, I got my curiosity get the better of me
