Looks like that boycott called by hardcore fans didn’t amount to much. Nor were buyers perturbed by some very controversial changes in the 9-disc Blu-ray release of Star Wars: The Complete Saga with 40 hours of extras. Instead, the Complete Saga on Blu-ray release broke global sales records with 1 million units sold and $84 million filling cash registers. It quickly becomes the #1 pre-order and #1 catalog title since the launch of the high-definition format. Needless to say, Lucasfilm Ltd and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment are high-fiving today’s announcement that Star Wars is the bestselling catalog Blu-ray Disc of all time, including 515,000 units sold in North America in its first week alone. This worldwide consumer spend included $38 million in North America – unprecedented for a 9-disc Blu-ray collection at a premium price:

I, for one, am SHOCKED.

They're high-fiving at LFL. "Yipeee!"

That is so wizard!

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

I was reading Bill Hunts review on the Star Wars BD Set and this caught my attention.

A number of fans have complained about the fact that the original theatrical versions of the classic films are not included in this Blu-ray set. While it's true and is certainly a legitimate complaint, no fan in their right mind could seriously have expected them to be included, given Lucas' attitude in the past. Still, I have a sneaking suspicion that Lucas is going to have to release the original versions of the films at some point in the future. The reason I've started to believe that is because of the deleted scenes that WERE included on these Blu-rays. This is material that Lucas has been reluctant to make available in the past, but they were needed for this Blu-ray set simply to give fans a compelling reason to buy the films again. After this Blu-ray release, I just don't see ANYONE buying these films again for any reason (certainly not for 3D!) unless those original versions are part of the package. Regardless, even if there's never an authorized release, rest assured that so many prints of those original films exist in the hands of film archives (and even private collectors) around the world that, sooner or later, someone is going to throw them up on an HD scanner, make high-quality HD masters and release them as bootlegs - either for free online, or on BD-R or other digital media sold at conventions. How do I know that? Well, I've actually had bootleg HD copies of the "special edition" Star Wars films for a couple years now, mastered from European HD satellite broadcasts, made available online and burned to BD-R media. Trust me, the original versions WILL be available eventually in HD, legally or not. Frankly, the sooner Lucas realizes this and takes proactive steps to release them himself the better.

Thanks for the help! Now I have these.

What kind of paper did you use?  Photo?  Your welcome, if it was my help you used.

I originally tried Photoshop, but my computer is too weak now (old P4) and crashed! So, I tried the app you recommended and it was flawless! After some surgery with a ruler and X-acto knife these covers fit perfectly with my cases.

And yes, I did use photo paper. Kodak Premium Picture Paper, it came out nice and fits well with my other blu-ray discs.

Curious question; what are the proper dimensions to print out the BD covers? When I load them to photoshop they come out gigantic. I tried taking them to Kinko's and Officemax and the same thing. They told me I had to pay an extra $7 to cover poster printing! LOL! Would really appreciate the help.

Harmy, I do have to thank you for putting all the time and effort on these releases! I've been getting a kick out of watching the OT in HD!

10.65 Width

5.867 Height

that will ensure it is side to side with no gap.

One last thing, this is in inches?

There's a great prog that was recommended to me called "undercoverxp".  I was having trouble too making covers then I used this and selected bluray and they came out perfectly.  Here's the link:   http://undercoverxp.tk/

Oh, by the way, despite the name it works in Windows 7 too.

I'll give this a try if I can't get it right with Photoshop. Would I have to use Legal paper or would regular size do with UndercoverXP?

At least now we know why they didn't include extra audio mixes on these discs, it would distract from the glorious NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I'm sorry, but this is just stupid. I can deal with many of the changes. Honestly, the only changes I've hated with the revised editions have been Jedi Rocks and with 04' DVD's forced Prequel connection with Hayden and Boba's voice. But, this? Really?

I've just listened to it.  This has to be a joke.  It sounds awful.

If you think that is bad, just wait until you hear this:

A little piece of me just died listening to this

Oh lord. That is bad... I mean very bad. I can handle the blinking eyes on the ewoks, hell give the sarlacc eyes and make it blink at us! But, this is just bad. Vader doesn't even sound like himself. The integrated dialogue feels forced and completely stands out against the original soundtrack.
