Fennec sure does look pretty.

Edit: I’m not sure what to call this two-part episode, but it’s cool because it gets us right to the heart of the Republic (the Senators) and the Jedi (the force-sensitive younglings). So ‘A Strike at the Heart’ or similar might be a thing. Or I could go campy - Holocrons and Hostages, for example. It’s about Sidious directly attacking these fundamental Republic institutions, so maybe there’s something there.
Bane’s Eleven could do it 😄
On a more serious note, A Strike at the Heart sounds fitting and Clone Wars-like. Or maybe something with “Bane” on it.
A side advantage of including Hostage Crisis is that its events are later referenced in the Martez sisters arc.
Interesting perspectives! This was a fun read.
As a marginal note, Sifo-Dyas in both timelines is dead around the timeframe of The Phantom Menace (the Clone Wars one is an illusion). The really muddled stuff is when Dooku fell to the dark side.
I recently finished “Light of the Jedi”. Its a good introduction to the High Republic era. Despite the ton of new characters the story was fun and easy to follow, only the events leading up to the climax were a bit confusing due to a fair share of jumping around between subplots. Its clearly not a rehash of the typical Star Wars premise, with no rival empire nor Sith/dark siders at all (at least for the moment), and that’s a welcome change. I had worried the timeframe of the High Republic wouldn’t be that interesting because it was a time of peace, but thankfully the worldbuilding is solid and there is a lot of room for intrigue and mystery to keep the High Republic project afloat.
Many of the characters come and go, being phased out or killed off without much fuss, but there are quite a few that are pretty memorable. My favorite is the laidback and charming yet badass Loden Greatstorm and I also found his padawan, Bell Zettifar, very relatable. Elzar Mann also caught my attention because of his unorthodox thoughts and feelings.
I’ve been off line for a few days due to vacations but gosh these ideas are so cool and well-thought! Hope to see the puppet show come to fruition soon.
As a Hispanic myself I don’t really feel any racist issues with Poe’s spice-running days. It just bothers me because it’s a lazy-ass retcon that doesn’t really add a lot to Poe’s character arc and muddles his established backstory for no reason. Keeping it vague would be better.
I don’t know if this has been asked earlier but Hal would you be up to including some of the Legends Sith Lords faces in Exegol as suggested and played with in the general thread?
Eddie, there seems to be a brief editing mistake near the end of “Massacre”…in your version Grievous is supposed to “kill” Talzin’s physical form and this causes the defeat of the Dead Army, right? Because there are a couple of rogue shots of Grievous throwing away the old witch’s corpse and Talzin’s reaction to it. Other than this the episode was lit!
I recently started playing KOTOR 2 again and I would love to find a way to put some classic Sith Armor somewhere in Exegol when Kylo Ren first is walking around, just in the background somewhere. It would be a nice little easter egg 😃
It’d be great if someone could tinker with the Sith statue behind Kylo Ren to make it look like Darth Nihilus or Revan.
For Rebels, I’d add “The honorable ones” from S2 (crucial character development for Zeb and Kallus) and from S3: “Visions and voices” (revisiting Dathomir and the Darksaber), “Ghost of Geonosis” (featuring Saw Gerrera and Death Star foreshadowing), “Through Imperial eyes” (a lot of insight on Kallus and Thrawn), “Secret Cargo” (the canon beginning of the Rebel Alliance) and “Zero Hour” (the season finale).

For what it’s worth I also use his Battle of the Heroes and Duel of the Fates mashup over the Death Star lightsaber duel between Rey and Kylo. That one is available below:
Nice, I plan on using this exact audio in my cut:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOpRpYSXfkU
It’s my one of my favorite SW soundtracks, it further pushes the parallels between the TROS duel and the ROTS one (my favorite), and fits very well.
And skenera, that looks great! I don’t think it looks too video game-y at all anymore.
I’m not really a fan of adding Hans Zimmerized-trailer music to the actual film (mostly because its simplified 4-chord structure doesn’t really fit Williams’s style for SW), but I really like Battle of the Heroes for the duel and it fits nicely (I’d say better than the uncut DOTF), even the chorus doesn’t sound out of place.
Honestly the best possibly outcome to rescore this duel scene would be a slowed down, instrumental Battle of the Heroes/Duel of the Fates mashup-cover with an ominous feel to it not unlike the DOTF cue Hal’s using.
I like that line too, so I hope that if it’s cut from the opening at least it’s moved to another scene like the mask vision.
I haven’t seen rogue one in ages, was this clip ever used in the movie?
That particular clip was not used in the film. The Jedi toppled statue appears in an earlier scene but different takes are used.
There was talk of trying to make Passana into Jedha at one point. Though I think that was decided against because the major recognizable marker from Rogue One was destroyed so there’d really be no way to make it clear that is what was going on.
Some months ago I did a quick mock-up to sum up the ideas that were suggested:
VFX would be needed for adding a huge crater on the Jedha surface as seen from space, (maybe but not that necessary) a ring of debris orbiting the planet, and erasing the U-Wing and adding in the Millennium Falcon instead.
But honestly the hardest part of turning Pasaana into Jedha is that the name of the planet is mentioned in dialogue. One of those instances (a FO officer reporting to Kylo) could be redubbed as her mouth is away from view, but Rey saying “Pasaana” before embarking on the journey seems more difficult to change.
Rey Skywalker has vanished.
In his absence, the sinister
SECOND ORDER has risen from
the ashes of the First Order
and will not rest until
Rey, the last Jedi,
has been destroyed. With the support of the
THIRD REPUBLIC, General Poe Dameron
leads a brave REVOLT.
He is desperate to find his
friend (nothing else) Rey and gain her
help in restoring peace
and justice to the galaxy.Poe has sent his most daring
pilot on a secret mission
to Mandalore, where an old ally
has discovered a clue to
Rey’s whereabouts.…
The High Republic will be bigger and better than most imagine.
I really hope this is the case. Light of the Jedi was a great starting point. The amount of people I’ve seen in media throwing crap at the HR project depresses me.
BREAKING: Gina Carano no longer employed by Lucasfilm after latest array of controversial social media posts
Source: https://io9.gizmodo.com/gina-carano-is-no-longer-a-part-of-star-wars-1846244896
No more Cara Dune in The Mandalorian? Gina Carano wasn’t exactly popular because of her political statements, but it seems that a recent TikTok alluding to antisemitism is the stroke that broke the camel’s back. Apparently this and other posts quickly got Gina canceled in social media and a Lucasfilm spokesperson stated they don’t have any further ties to the actress and condemned her comments.
What do you guys think?
Reading the High Republic novels has increased my already high interest in this.
What high republic novels would you suggest?
I’d only recommend the High Republic for anyone interested in an entire new era of Star Wars. It doesn’t have that OT atmosphere of rebellion against an oppressive regime. It still feels like Star Wars, just during a time when the Jedi and the Republic were at their peak. There are adversaries though, and even tragedy.
I’d start with the first one, “Light of the Jedi.” It sets everything up and introduces a lot of new characters.

Has nothing to do with the thread but only now with your new avatar I realise your nick is an anagram of Yendor 😄
I’d say keep it. Ahsoka relapsing into the same mistake after her deeds over Ryloth is a good enough motivation for the Council to isolate her from the front lines.
The thing about the Anakin idea is it inevitably begs the question… why then? Why wouldn’t Anakin have appeared to him earlier? The Han scene is some combination of a Leia-induced hallucination and a visual metaphor for an emotional breakthrough, but Anakin’s ghost would just literally be the sand man himself manifesting. Why then and there? It’d also remove some of Ben’s agency from his turn, making it less of a personal choice and more of a response to getting a bit of a scolding from Grandad.
Of course, the Force Ghost question already exists in the movies as they are, and even in the OT, Obi-Wan’s choices of when to appear or not seem entirely motivated by plot convenience, so it’s not the end of the world. It’s apparent why Lucas decided when writing the PT that no one learned how to become a ghost until afterwards, haha, to avoid this sort of thing.
I know the wider canon does not matter but I believe there’s some place where it’s established Force ghosts could only talk to willing light-side users.
A faithful adaptation of the Thrawn trilogy, with a few minor changes of course to fit with TFA’s time period.
I agree. Indeed, Disney only cares about money - so why worry about having a canon universe/continuity? Just make The Thrawn Trilogy as part of an alternative timeline. Instead of striving for a shared universe like Marvel and DC, just let various series and movies be independent of each other. Way easier really.
I mean with Lucas out of the picture, does anyone really care what the “true” canon is anymore?
I would really hate it if Star Wars became a continuity mess like Fox’s X-Men movie saga.
I agree that Wat Tambor should be minimised in this arc, he’s doesn’t look or act very intimidating and doesn’t achieve much. He’s much better in the Bad Batch storyline where his CG model is thankfully improved a lot. The Neimoidian captain in Ryloth is a nice change of pace from his cowardly conspecifics such as Nute Gunray and Rune Haako, so I’m happy to see him stay.
I never had a problem with the Skyguy/Snips nicknames in the first place, but I’m glad they are being recontextualised as they could work better for new viewers.
I’d also like a link to the latest version (I believe I have the penultimate one)
Are the scenes with the Nikto Jedi master, in particular his last stand and death, included in your cut of Supply Lines?
It’s the ‘rocks in the stream’ approach to editing. We’re editing now within an absolute flowing torrent of new content and canon. Our edits, the rocks, can cause minor diversions - to minimise cringe, to restructure for impact, to emphasise and de-emphasise - but ultimately that water is going to flow in the same direction. Our starts and ends, and all of our main beats, have to fit within that flow, otherwise the franchise (and the potential FUTURE franchise) doesn’t work as a coherent whole. For example, I’m really against Rey being a Palpatine. I’d love a Nobody cut. But I know that sooner or later there’s going to be some new media - Rey’s Jedi Academy, Mandalorian 2.0, whatever - that references Rey Palpatine, and in order to enjoy that new bit of content we’re going to have to accept Rey Palpatine. So I’ll always edit towards preservation of the FRANCHISE canon, over canon from any one source - and I think that’s necessary in order that fanediting doesn’t become a Sisyphean effort. And in this case, I think the franchise now says “Those guys knew each other, which raises some awkward questions in the OT.”
That’s just me though, and I can understand people wishing it weren’t so enough to make it so.
Agree with every word of this. I mean, it’s a PT-derived product so evidently is going to have some minor contradictions with the OT. One could even say that the retcon of Anakin having a Padawan or Maul surviving have no basis whatsoever in what was depicted so far in the PT. But in the end it all amounted to a solid TV show that redeemed the prequel era for many fans including me.
I don’t really have a problem with the outfit issue, since as a result of the reordering the characters can even change their CG quality and detail in the span of episode.
Honestly if the way of Fett’s defeat could be changed to be more dignified while keeping his actual death ambiguous would be a nice middle-point.
