Mando EP2: Search for the Jedi [V2 RELEASED]
Time

I might be wrong here but in the finale, Cara Dune says her "gun is jammed. Is it just me or have they never referred to blasters as guns. later in the episode Moff Gideon even says “drop the blaster”. I personally found it distracting. Maybe you could trim some of these hallway blaster scenes?

Han Solo and Luke refer to a blaster pistol and a turret, respectively as “gun” in Return of the Jedi.

The Clone Wars: Refocused [COMPLETE]
Time

I believe the only thing hindering your ordering is visual continuity (ex. Obi-Wan and Anakin ditching the armor for Nightsister but regaining it later, or Ahsoka appearing with her updated character model in Brothers which you placed before Heroes in Both Sides. The armor thing can be glossed over but Ahsoka’s physical growth can’t).

Otherwise, this Quality cut is top-notch. It serves as very good and consistent storytelling, the main threads are evenly balanced and seems like a lot of fun overall.

I’ll admit the placement of the Ventress arc bugs me on a nitpick level because I planned to watch your Quality cut plus Bounty. But I can live with it. And I don’t think it affects Boba’s characterisation at all.

“Third generation” brings to mind the Phase III Dark Troopers from the original Dark Forces video game, where that applied to a version that could be worn as an exoskeleton by flesh-and-blood Imperial troops.

Yeah I got that reference too.

I’m confident that this won’t be the last we’ll see of the Dark Troopers. They were scarily effective antagonists.

What do you think of the recent fan canon about Bo-Katan’s first campaign having failed because she didn’t gather that much support on the basis of the legitimacy of her claim to the Darksaber? Maybe the more conservative Mandalorians opposed her the fact that the Darksaber was given to her voluntarily rather than earning it in single combat, as Sabine and presumably Vizsla did. That could be the reason why she’s so hell-bent in beating Gideon herself.

<strong>Rangers Of The New Republic</strong> (live action series) - general discussion thread (<strong>Cancelled</strong>)

Well I’m on the side that likes Ezra (his development through Rebels was nice and his ending appropiate for his arc. There’s no way he’s the objectively worst) and I’m pretty open to the idea of seeing more television characters come back to the spotlight. I really hope this crossover project ends up being a worthy way to retroactively improve the post-ROTJ timeline, and a satisfying culmination of the dangling threads left by TCW, Rebels and Mandalorian.

<strong>The Mandalorian</strong> - a general discussion thread - * <em><strong>SPOILERS</strong></em> *

I saw chapter 16 again today. There were a couple of things I would have liked to be a bit different (for example, having the Dark troopers actually breach the door and corner the heroes until Luke does his thing) but overall was a great (even if uneven) experience. The last five minutes with Luke and Grogu’s goodbye once again had me on the verge of tears.

I think the digital de-aging treatment on Luke look better now that I’ve gotten accustomed to them. Not as flawless as what some of the Marvel films have accomplished, but better than Leia in Rogue One, for example. Are there different companies doing the de-aging FX for Star Wars and Marvel?

Do you people think the Dark Troopers will make a comeback? Honestly I’m longing for more action involving them.

I’m so pumped by this series and what’s coming soon!

The effects and editing were a bit rough around the edges, but never anything too jarring. Even Luke’s de-aging got me totally clueless. For a moment I thought he was Sebastian Stan until I took a better look at his face.

They’ll definitely find a way for Grogu to survive, I refuse to believe he’ll be killed by the time of the ST. My personal theory is that could there be distinct parallel Jedi organizations or factions besides Luke’s one.

I was a bit confused by Bo-Katan’s motivations. She really seemed to grasp the idea that actual combat was needed to get the Darksaber, but the first time she claimed that weapon she didn’t earn it by defeating someone, it was voluntarily given to her by Sabine. Since Filoni is involved in all of this maybe we could get this addressed in the third season.

Also where was Axe Woves?

Back to the latest episode of Mando, was it just me, or has Ludwig Gorranson not used any of John Williams’ original motifs aside from the Force Theme?

A bit of Yoda’s theme appeared in “The Jedi” when Ahsoka mentioned Yoda. A variant of the March of the Resistance also played to represent the New Republic in chapters 10 and 12.

These, and Ahsoka’s Theme (not from Williams but from Kevin Kiner), seem to be the only motifs in the Mandalorian not to have been originally composed by Goransson.

The Kenobi <s>Movie</s> Show (Spoilers)
Time

OutboundFlight said:

Knowing Vader, why would he ever presume Obi-Wan’s death? Next to Yoda, Obi-Wan is public enemy number 1: the only surviving Jedi Council member, and who Vader has a deeply personal vendetta against. I doubt Vader and the Empire would let his escape go. I imagine there’d be wanted posters everywhere and the moment any Stormtrooper is able to locate him the leadership on Courscant would instantly be aware. This isn’t Cal Kestas or Kanan Jarrus.

For that reason, I find it more likely Obi-Wan and Vader fight again, and this time Obi-Wan will find some way to fake his death. It would explain a lot – why does Vader and Tarkin presume Obi-Wan’s death? He faked it somehow, permanently getting the Empire off his trail and allowing him to focus on protecting Luke. Why does Obi-Wan know Vader’s “more machine than man now” when he last saw him burning alive? Saw him personally, and realized that Anakin = Vader in the suit. Why didn’t Vader ever trouble to visit his old home on Tatooine, the first place to visit if you were hunting for Obi-Wan? His death was faked so he never bothered.

A fake death could even tie into the “death” of Obi-Wan and the “birth” of Ben.

I agree with all your points, just a little detail. “He’s more machine than man” is said by Ben’s ghost in ROTJ, not the original, so there is not any inconsistency there.

The Kenobi <s>Movie</s> Show (Spoilers)
Time

The Inquisitors are far more effective antagonists in the game and the expanded literature than in Rebels anyway.

I’m really hoping the physical action will revolve around Obi-Wan being pitted against a Inquisitor/Purge trooper combo, and do something new with the rumored rematch with Vader, hopefully a vision or something (much like the way Yoda dueled a projection/illusion cast by Sidious in TCW) that still manages to bridge together the inconsistencies between ROTS and ANH.

New Boba Fett death

So I wanted to know if the latest episodes change Ady’s plans.

Maybe this could mean not a more conclusive “death” but a less ridiculous defeat that still could leave room for his survival.

<strong>The Acolyte</strong> (live action series set in The High Republic era) - a general discussion thread
Time

Absolutely! Having a villain stay evil until the end doesn’t mean they cannot get any character development, nor is a redeemed antagonist inherently more complex.

It would be great if this could make some sense of the mess that was the Exegol subplot in TROS, and even more awesome if it somehow leads up to Plagueis.

Thought the seismic charge was a little fan-servicey, but not overtly so.

I’m always curious about comments like these. What do you define as fan service? It was used logically and organically in the situation, so why would it be “fan service”?

Because seismic charges are one of the few memorable things about AOTC and kind of a meme on their own right. Much like Boba saying “I’m a simple man making his way through the galaxy” referencing Jango’s line from AOTC, that is also a meme, and a good portion of fans loved it.

timdiggerm said:

Am I wrong in thinking that most of the troopers we saw were probably Rogue One costumes?

Indeed, there were a lot of shore troopers at the Imperial facility. It’s not the first time the series recycles props, though. Multiple extras from TFA, Rogue One and Solo have made reappearances.

<strong>Ahsoka</strong> (live action series) - general discussion thread
Time

I guess that’s the impression we all had of her before watching the series. Having seen the entirety of Ahsoka’s arc in that series (particularly the Season 5 finale and the Siege of Mandalore) I think it does wonders for Anakin’s character development and gives him some pretty compelling reasons to turn to the dark side.

<strong>Ahsoka</strong> (live action series) - general discussion thread
Time

Everything points to this series being the Rebels followup we’ve been anticipating. Since Ahsoka is the main character and the series will take place parallel to the Mandalorian, she will be likely on her quest for Grand Admiral Thrawn (and possibly Ezra). I’m guessing that Sabine Wren will play a part on it and that Dave Filoni will be involved as a creative.

A '<strong>Rumour and News</strong>' thread for reported new Star Wars films and tv series
Time

So according to the recent announcements the future TV roster will be comprised of:

  • AHSOKA (set during the events of The Mandalorian)
  • ANDOR (Cassian and K2-led prequel)
  • BAD BATCH (CGI spin-off of Clone Wars)
  • LANDO (maybe they’ll get Donald Glover back?)
  • OBI-WAN KENOBI (with Ewan AND Hayden returning; set a decade after ROTS)
  • RANGERS OF THE NEW REPUBLIC (no idea, other than its set within the timeline of Mando)
  • THE ACOLYTE (the project helmed by Leslye Headland, will be set during the High Republic era)
  • VISIONS (apparently a collection of anime-inspired 2D short films)
  • Plus any remaining seasons of The Mandalorian

On the movie side we’ll get ROGUE SQUADRON, helmed by Patty Jenkins.

Also I think an animated R2 and 3PO project is in the works.

It appears the followup to Rebels won’t be an animated project but the Ahsoka series. Also no word on Boba Fett getting his own show yet. Maybe they will disclose it after Mando S2 is over.

Plus not really Star Wars but a Willow series also got announced.
