Episode I Digital Yoda Images!!!!
Time
Wow, where have I been. Digital Yoda in I pics, no Digital Yoda in V and VI(thank God), Younf Indy DVDs, and Indy IV script done....

What else have I missed, I wonder.

As for the change:

The pupput looks more real and tangible, as it is there and part of the shot. The digital does have a painted look to it, which gives away the effect. The digital though does look more like Yoda, especially prequel Yoda.

So really, it's between realism vs cartoonish but more like the character. It's a touch call on one pic. I never really had a problem with Episode I Yoda. Not like it matters. I've bought the film twice on two formats. I'm not buying it again.

Captain Harlock vs. The Galactic Empire
Time
Having not visited Corn Pone Flicks website in a while, I discovered that some more of their short films had been put up for download, including this one.

It's an old edit of Star Wars and Harlock footage, detailing what might happen if Leiji Matsumoto's Harlock took on the Empire. While not smooth by todays standards, it's definitely still amusing. Great stuff given that it was done in 1990.

The Official Greencapt 'Batman & Robin: De-Assified' Edit thread (Released)
Time
Wow, I can't believe I missed this. B&R is the only Batman film we never bought. I have all the others mostly (Batman, Returns, Forever, The Movie, Mask of the Phantasm, Subzero), but not that one. Triming over an hour of it, and improving it still!! This I gotta see. It'll be so much better just to not have Mr Freeze, one of my favorite Batman villians, not spouting puns left and right.

***The "Darth Editous" Episode IV DVD Info and Feedback Thread*** - a partially "de-specialed" DVD
Time
Great covers. Easily some of the best I've seen. I like how you highlight the specific changes. Personal, I like the Blue, Red, Green. Red makes no sense for ANH.

Its occured to me that I never gave feedback on the edit. I've been a bit out of Star Wars at the moment. Though i doubt anyone's noticed my absence.

In a nutshell, I like it.

I found no real problem with most of the new changes. It's been awhile, but at most, I think I only didn't care for one, but I can't remember what. They're subtile, and work nicely. Really the only thing I have issue with is the remaining SE footage, and that's not something I would consider when judging the disc. The Mos Eisley approach is much improved. Amazing how much a little cropping does. Again, the only issue is with what was added in the first place. THe CGI is rather shoddy and the city too busy. The added shot of Han vs Greedo that was put in for Greedo's shot felt a tad off. I'd rather it just went the way it did in 77. THough I suppose not much could be done. It's still better than the SE take.

It's possible that I like the new change as they're unofficial. While I originally thought nothing of them, the SE changes bugged me after the theater run was over. When I was told that they were to supplant the originals, that's probably when I outright hated them. The DE version is an alternate take. I can view it as such. It's more fanfilm in that way. It makes me wonder if George had done this, what would I think. Still, it's good to see things fixed that actually needed fixing.

All in all, if I had to watch the SE, this is the one I'd watch. If the SE had been like this, I might not have had as much of a problem. Still, I'll stick to my TR47 discs, for serious viewing, but I hardly expected otherwise. Though this disc definitely pointed out how bad that disc actually looks. Definitely a good job.

As for the Emperor in ESB, if he looked more like this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v252/tifaonacloud/imperator1-ep3.jpg

I think it would look worlds better.

I'd go back to Clive Revell's voice over. It was much more sinister and fitting. Chalk it up to the transmission changing how he sounds. Basically, at least lose the 'YESSSSSSSS'. I thought the original, "Yes....yes!" was more fitting. Like he was rolling it around in his mind and Vader touched upon it. The new one is too, "Why didn't I think of that".

Episode 3: DVD - Released november 1st
Time
You know, I looked at the cover, and thought it looked fine. The SE DVDs looked awful, but the prequels weren't too bad. After reading the thread, I went back to the first page, and noticed the Vader mask. Whole thing just jumped out at me. It looks terrible. Pretty much ruins the whole thing.

I think I'll be switching them out to the Struzen leather covers Coov made.

But yeah, she does look bad both in terms of body weight and her hair color. The hair color is for a movie role, or so she claims. And the weight loss is due to her trainer.

She looked so much better as a fuller-bodied redhead.

I definitely agree with you there. But then, I love redheads.

I always have preffered darker hair. Though it's personality and common interests, etc, that counts in the end.

connecting the OT to the prequels (parody)

I've only read ANH. Some funny stuff there. I love the Qui-Gon bickering.

"whiney Jedi was he" ^_^

Though the line should be

QUI-GON: I’m hurt Obi-Wan.
BEN: Sorry. I meant you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master who instructed Count Dooku, who instructed Qui-Gon Jinn… who instructed me…
QUI-GON: Now, that’s better.

Great stuff, though Vader's a tad hit or miss.

THe reason I like this board is because here I can say that I prefer the original effects sequences, and not have someone/s saying, "what the f*ck is wrong with you? CGI is way more cool and real". It's not that I can't handle a differing opinion, that's the point of message boards, but I have noticed that on sites like MF and TF.n, if you don't agree with the majority, no matter how respectfully, you get flamed. I don't see why I should be called a "Lucas Hater" or not a "True Fan" just because I thought the prequels could've been better than they already are, or that I'd rather watch groundbreaking model effects rather than your now typical CGI. Someone would say I'm living in the past for not absolutly loving everything new.

I have no problem with the people like Bizzle quoted. He at least rationalizes why he doesn't like the idea of fan edits.

I take issue with the, "This sucks, the guy who did it sucks and has no life, you're pathetic for liking it, and HAHA, I'm making fun of stupid people" posts. That's not expressing an opinion, that's flaming.

Actually, the thing that gets me is not post like that, but the utter childishness of posts that contain stuff like this.

that's a pretty apt analogy.

ps this shit is sad and retarded

I think what M Verta is doing is cool, Especially since he isn't selling or distributing it in anyway. But the shit this cum bubble is selling is faggotry, well ok the slave labor idea is good

[emphasis mine]

Describing it as "retarded" and "faggotry", and calling Magfan a "cum bubble"...wow, what a great and intelligent way to express your opinion.

It's one thing to say you don't agree with something, it's something else to outright flame, cuss, and bitch about something you don't care about.

I get the impression that MF is a VERY hostile board. I've brosed many of their other threads in the past. The level of disrespect most posters seem to show for one another is pretty messed up. I'm not going there anymore.

There's no harm in what MagFan has done. If he chooses to re-edit the films, it's his time. I would love to see a take on the prequels using completely new footage, story, etc. Not because I hated the films, simply to see an alternative version of the story.

Yes, I can argue with a point on that quote. Just because he doesn't want to see it, does that mean no-one should want to either? What's wrong with bringing it up. If you're not interested, read the next thread, if you are, cheack it out. Where's the harm in that. His point's are right, they aren't his films, but I don't recall Magfan ever claiming that they were.

Maybe he got the Super-Mecahnic who fixed the car that Tom steals to fix the camera too.

Considering that I haven't seen a post by MBJ on this, I assume you meant my post. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I made that post when I was rather tired so I only addressed the things that were really bugging me at the time. One guy made a point on a different forum that if the camera was off at the time it happened, it most likely wouldn't be affected. Even cars that are off still have a current running through them. That made some sense to me. Still, I agree that it's a tad silly to make such a large point of everything not working, yet slapping that in at a time where you have no time to rationalize it.

I'm all for the "draw your own conclusions" approach to storytelling, but that wasn't really the time for it, since we had to focus on the tripod, not some dude's camera.

Don't blame that on this version of the movie. The bit about diseases killing the aliens(not having seen this version yet, I could be wrong) , came from the book and was repeated in every version since. Blame H.G. Wells for that, not this movie.

btw: I highly recomend the Radio version by Orson Wells

I'm well aware of that. The reason it bothers me in this one is that it's been suggested that they were here before. In the book and others, this is their first time to earth. In this, the machines are planted underground millennia ago. I blame Spielberg on that, since that was his idea. Evolution advancing the disease or no, (the weakest reason someone trying to explain it suggested.)wouldn't they have noticed SOMETHING.
