I'd say Ady's AVCHD releases look better than some official blu-ray releases, though. Like that bloody Lord of the Rings boxset.

If anyone did use this in an edit, the first thing to do would be to cut out the awful Vader dialogue.

Maybe even cut it down to Vader leaning forward in his meditation chamber and saying "Luke..." (leaving the rest of the footage intact though).

It's the codec used for Blu-Ray, I believe. But if the file is small enough it can be used on any DVD.

How do we know this is going to be the '04 version, though? It could be a new SE with updated effects.

Oddly, I noticed a reference to this in an episode of American Dad! the other day.

Stan (one of the main characters) arrived at a Star Wars convention, in search of his enemy. To create a diversion, his enemy announced that Stan was responsible for the lack of an anamorphic release of the pre-Special Edition Star Wars trilogy.

I could have dreamt it, though.

Problem solved. If Ady goes for the idea, that is.

While you may disagree with other people's thoughts regarding something as emotional as art, that doesn't make their reasons irrational.

I just got done watching the DVD. Really good stuff in terms of picture (better than the GOUT I think) but there's something bothering me. I'm not sure if this was the case before '97, but the music seems to be extremely low in the mix most of the time. For instance, when the stormtroopers storm the blockade runner, you can barely hear the score.

Also, I think I found a mistake; when the stormtroopers are searching Mos Eisley I believe there is still the sound effect of the probe droid flying around from the SE. I might be wrong.

I've always found MPC to be a little less temperamental when playing DVDs, but either will work for MP4 playback.

Yeah, that looks right to me, but it's not a huge issue. As long as we know the general location of the bridge it shouldn't be that hard to estimate how much of the hull should be visible.

He would have had to make a very quick escape.

I don't think he actually cared about Vader's intention at that point. He was just interested in keeping his bounty safe from the kid.

Towards the rear. An A-Wing crashes into the control tower, and then the Star Destroyer plummets down towards the Death Star - the flaming bit we see in that shot is the bridge, I believe.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed yet, but I noticed it when I was watching RoTJ last night and it kind of bugged me. Notice in the image below the interior of the bridge on the Super Star Destroyer.

Notice also that no part of the ship is visible past the bridge windows. Now, considering just how big this ship is, it's impossible that none of the hull would be visible from that angle on the bridge. There is a similar shot later on in the film, just before the ship is destroyed:

Now, there is a large grey surface in the background of this shot, but the curvature would suggest it was the Death Star rather than the angular hull of the Star Destroyer.

In short, would it be possible to add the hull to the scenes involving the bridge of the Star Destroyer? There aren't any shots similar to this in Empire if I remember correctly so it might be difficult to find one that fits nicely.

Yeah, that's one thing that bothers me a lot. I guess Lucas thought "Huh, 'Lord Maul' sounds kind of stupid," and so made Darth into the new 'lord'. Which is stupid.

You can tell this wasn't Lucas' intention from the start because Obi-Wan calls Vader 'Darth' in Star Wars. If Darth was supposed to be a title from the beginning, why didn't Obi-Wan also refer to Vader as 'Lord'? It would make about as much sense.
