Hypothetic Situation...
Time
I was just thinking that myself today actually.

I would mind an Ultimate Edition that was a cross between the original and the special editions.

It would only take maybe 2 changes to each special edition to make them watchable:

ANH:
Han scene fixed (must have to be watchable)
your choice of Jabba scene or Mos Eisley extended entrance

ESB:
Luke screaming taken out (must have to be watchable)
your choice of Cloud City less cheesy, Luke's line on Degobah changed back, or Wampa scene changed back

ROJ:
"Jedi Rock" taken out!! (must have to be watchable)
your choice of original ending song, or sarlac pit beak taken out

Lets face it, there are some things about the Special editions that kick ass, like the enhanced battle of Yavin. Today I watched the original version and special edition side-by-side (yes, with 2 tvs) and it was really noticable how much better the special edition version of the scene was, as hard as that is to admit...

Yes, I like that script from blueharvest.net, but there are others. I look up: "A new hope" + "script"

Another one to me eh? It seems me and Motti are really duking it out...

Hmmm....

An easy one, I think. When leading the attack on the AT-ATs in the battle of Hoth, what attack pattern does Luke instruct his fellow pilots to use?

Star Wars Trivia
Time
After watching the trench scene for about the 10th time in the last 2 days (only a couple times for trivia purposes, the rest because it's just an awesome scene) I decided to check the credits to see how many "Reds" are listed

There are only 5...
Red Leader - Drewe Hemley
Red Two (Wedge) - Dennis Lawson
Red Three (Biggs) - Garrick Hagon
Red Four (John "D") - Jack Klaff
Red Six (Porkins) - William Hootkins

Who is this Red Four guy? John "D"?? He's not seen or mentioned in the scene at all! And yet, there he is...maybe he was in an original cut, and but found the cutting room floor later....oh well...an interesting tidbit...

My answer stands, cuz there was 9 Reds mentioned in the scene.

Awesome!

Hmmmm....let me think...

Sticking to the topic of the trench battle from ANH, what are the names for the following call numbers:
a) Red 2
b) Red 3
c) Red 5
d) Red 6

(by the way, those are the only named X-wing pilots from that battle)

Bonus Points: What are the call numbers and names of the 2 Y-wing pilots that die before Gold 5?
Hint:
Gold 5: "Lost _____, lost _____."
Red Leader: "I copy, Gold 5"
Gold 5: "They came from...behind!"

Plot holes in the SW saga
Time
Right, right. I forgot about the "twin" line.

I've always thought they were twins, but I didn't want to say they were twins, and then have someone prove me wrong, cuz I realized I wasn't sure. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I'm pretty sure they were hidden from Anakin before they were born, without him even knowing he had a child. I mean, if he knew they would have hunted him down much sooner. The Emperor knew about the "son of Skywalker" being really powerful, so if he knew earlier he would have hunted him down using his Emperor powers/resources.

Obi-Wan was sent to Tatooine to watch over Luke from afar, and when the time came convince him to learn the ways of the force (he tries to convince him to come to Alderan). Yoda no doubt told him to do that. Yoda I think was the mastermind behind it all. He knew who Luke has the potential to be, so he sent Obi-Wan to watch over him. But Yoda also knew how dangerous it was to keep the twins together and he also made sure no one knew they were siblings, giving Leia to Bail Organa. I really thing the only one who knew Luke and Leia were twins was Yoda and the only one who knew Luke was Vader's son was Yoda and Obi-Wan, maybe R2. R2 seemed to know alot about Obi-Wan.

Good point about Leia not necessarily talking about Padme in ROTJ. I never thought of that. She could just be talking about Bail's wife thinking that was her real mother, not knowing who her REAL mother was. It actually makes sense, cuz that would explain why she has memory of her mother and Luke doesn't.

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out in Ep3. I hope George actually WATCHES the original trilogy before editting it, because we all know how many plot holes and continuance problems have cropped up since Ep1 and 2 came out....

Sequel Trilogy? Say it's so!
Time
If they make them, they will suck. Just look at Ep 1 and 2. George Lucas shouldn't be allowed to touch Star Wars ever again, cuz he'll just screw it up. Plus, what would be the point? They'll either just being movie representations of the EU that someone else came with (in which case, they could be cool), or something completely differant which would definitly suck cuz it's all from GL.

And Groundrunner, sure, there have been a FEW sequels that were improvements on the original film but most sequels are worse. Not to mention this isn't a sequel. It's a 7th, 8th and 9th installment in a series. Name a series where the 7th, 8th, and 9th were better than the first 3. (First released, not first story-wise). If they did make a sequal trilogy it would be like digging up a dead horse 25 years after it was respectfully buried with dignity, dressing it up to look like some cheap whore to sell some crappy merchandise and make it's original owner some more money and THEN beating it with a stick.

GL really reminds me of one of those really really sick people who can't let go of the death of a loved one or something, so they steal the body and have it stuffed. A little like Norman Bates..."he was never completely Norman, but often completely Mrs. Bates..."

How does Grand Moff Tarkin fit into Ep 3?
Time
I've always seen it as Darth Vader not being the most powerful man in the universe, but just a very high up guy who was close with the Emperor. Grand Moff Tarkin was in charge of the Imperial army, directly under the Emperor. When he died, Vader took over his position. In ANH Vader seemed like an enforcer type. The only force user left, working for the Imperium. Like, Tarkin was in charge, but Vader actually went down on "away missions". I know it's sacrilege to talk about Star Trek, but I'm thinking like Picard and Riker. Picard is captain of the ship, but Riker is directly under him and is the guy who actually gets his hands dirty.

Carrie Fisher vs Natalie Portman
Time
Carre wins hands down. 2 reasons:

1) As of yet, we have not seen Natalie Portman in a bikini

2) I can watch the original trilogy over and over again and see Carrie Fisher over and over again. But I can't think of a single good reason to watch Eps 1 or 2 more than once, so Natalie Portman being hot is kinda moot...

And about Mark Hammil and HC. Mark is the coolest guy ever. Most actors is attached to something like Star Wars, they spend the rest of their career running from it. Mark Hammil is totally cool with being Luke Skywalker cuz he knows thousands of us geeks out there would kill to be thought of as Luke Skywalker everywhere you go. And that's cool.

ricarleite, what do you mean about Mark being "differant"? He's supposed to be more "aged". One, because he's maturing alot as he learns of the Force. I mean, I think he's pretty much the same in ESB as in ANH up until him going to Degobah. Then he starts to change.

We're Luke and Leia twins or just plain brother and sister?
If not, the movies suggest that Leia is older (she has memory of Padme and Luke doesn't)
Then again, Luke could have been seperated from his mother before Leia.
And well, Vader doesn't know about Leia, that's for sure, and I really don't think Obi-Won knew ("That boy is our last hope..." "No...there is another.") I think only Yoda knew the WHOLE story. Maybe r2-d2, cuz he's smart. Definitly not c-3po...if they didn't let him in on the plan to save Han, they wouldn't let him in on the luke/leia hiding plan.
Luke could be older tho cuz he knows a bit more than Leia, cuz Luke knew that Anakin was his father. But he could know that from his uncle (Luke knew who his father was, he just didn't know what happened to him...I don't think anyone on Tatooine did...how would they? it's too remote a planet that doesn't care about Imperial matters)

And about that scene (I have it memorized...it's one of my favorites...)
Admiral Motti says "ancient religion" ("you're sad devotion to that ancient religion hasn't help you conjour up the stolen data tapes...or given you clairvoyance enough to find the rebel's hidden fort -- ack!"
Grand Moff Tarkin just says "religion" ("you, my friend, are all that is left of their religion")

Anyway, that's just one man's thoughts...keeping in mind I care just about nothing for Eps 1 and 2 and the EU. The EU is cool and all, it just doesn't interest me. And Eps 1 and 2 just plain suck.

Plot holes in the SW saga

Obi-Wan didn't want to lie to Luke, but Luke wasn't ready to hear the WHOLE truth. Yoda says so later.
Vader didn't let Obi-Wan go because of Luke. Vader didn't know about Luke until after ANH. And Obi-Wan didn't know about Leia. And niether one of them were Jedi. And Obi-Wan wasn't a Jedi Knight anymore, but he was still a Jedi...

That's just about covers lots of the recent posts that I want to comment on....
