Episode 3 - Editing Back in Progress (* unfinished project *)

Hm. All great Ideas. I love how this keeps getting refined.

If it's possible to give the impression that obi was was scouring around and found only the saber, I say go for it. and having Obi wan yell out as Ani goes over the fall could be quite good if it works. That way it all still kinda works in context with a new hope. Obviously Obi Wan had to think Vader was dead or dying when he fled Mustafar. To have that NOT by by Obi Wans hand is a better way to go in my opinion.

Ever since hearing of a similar feature on HD-DVD I've thought that would be the best way for a project such as this. Unfortunately I have no idea how to achieve such an effect.

In case you guys mistook my meaning. I wasn't saying do it as an added feature ala HD but rather simply a permanent burned in kind of thing. Not saying it'd be easy but I thought presentation wise it'd help. That way there could always be some element of the movie proper on screen at all times.

I guess you're probably sick of AOTC right now tho

Well he could have left one behind but then wouldn't Padme have had to hang on to it. Or at least keep it on her ship. seems a bit odd. I thought of maybe Obi doing some sort of force pull/ grab - but that seems pretty far fetched. I was thinking that maybe Obi wan would just stare on in disbelief and maybe yell out to Anakin, even though he can't see him "You were my brother" etc.

Part of the problem I guess is that Lucas rigged it all up at the end as though the next film kicks of straight away and not 17 odd years later, Making sure everyone winds up where they will later be.

Wow,story wise I much prefer anakin going over the 'waterfall'. Now there's the sense that Obi Wan assumes he's died but without any certainty. I say that if you can polish this up then it's a great way to go. I could happily do without the whole fight along the lava river and on the bank.

I'm assuming you'd wanna cut the giant floating arm from the 2nd instance the camera moves down the 'waterfall'. there's probably enough footage there to simply start later in the shot.

I always liked the start of the duel and various parts of it, but ultimately it went a bit over the top and the end was a bit of a mess, It felt like they painted themselves into a corner. after going to great lengths to show us just how evenly matched they are, to suddenly have take him out in a single strike. plus I didn't really like that obi would do something like that.

I'll go re watch the rest of the clips now.

with the part 2 clip I get more of a sense that the fighting continues while we're not looking. Over all it seems a bit tighter. there are a few areas that could be tweaked further, A few shots that dont seem quite right or cut away that little bit too quickly.

And considering DFs suggestion, while landing in the lava would surely = no more Anakin, I'd be very happy to see an alternative to him losing THREE limbs at the same time. That moment in ROTS just doesn't sit right with me. And of course Obi Wan watching him burn which seems completely out of character.

I've got a bit of catching up to do now with all these clips

The dark forces 2 disc is pretty good. It's just a shame that the source materials are a bit underwhelming through 2007 tinted glasses.

Davey - are you actually planning on putting SOTE together as a movie - or just a compilation of the various resources? Sorry if you made this clear already but I skimmed over and I'm not certain. In any case if you manage to put it together with as much live and care as the bounty hunter - beyond the game project it'll surely be awesome.

any plans in the near future to get back to yr red dwarf ideas?

Okay, so I was thinking about the project a few minutes ago [in the shower no less.] and I thought of something. Now I know it's a tad late for suggestions but wouldn't it have been a good idea to present the project mostly in a 'picture in picture' kind of way?

I see how this could be a plus in that it might make things less jarring in places people have mentioned and help people keep total track of what is going on. [the movie proper never stops rolling] Also when there are moments where you want something fulscreen [or close to] you could have that moment in the film proper playing out in the smaller window. Might also be good for comparison sequences.

Now I'm not critiquing the project in any way, I just thought it seemed like a good idea to help things flow a little better. I actually haven't finished d/loading this monster yet but I watched a few snippets and was impressed that you had things I'd never seen or even heard of before.

any thoughts davey?

Actually I do have one critique and that is that instead of removing portions of the film, I'd much rather have an explanation as to why said segments don't work so well. I understand that if you don't have the resources there's nothing you can really do in that sense. I'm just putting that out there.

Btw, sorry I came too late to the party. I just went back and read 7 pages of comments and I probably could have helped you out with a few things. I'm kicking myself now for not having done that.
