Force Unleashed Vader's Apprentice Gets a Name (spoilers)
Time
I remember reading some time ago that Lucas employed people to check over proposed novelisations of Star Wars to check things like continuity and such. I'm sure that if Lucasarts had something similar then this product wouldn't have gotten any further than "hey wouldnt it be cool if?"

Yes, star wars is a sure fire money maker but these guys used to release great and varied games that you just don't see anymore. That's the sad part.

Starkiller is the new "Smith."

I'm taking a wait and see attitude with this game. The constant delays don't fill me with confidence.

Delays? wasn't it meant to be out over a year ago? - Remember! when star wars turned 30...

Jim Henson had a 'wait and see' attitude and now we have wrong sounding Muppets ;)

I'd much rather see an indy game than another terrible star wars cash cow.

Did you save the light saber effects on their own and then recompile with the underlying footage? I'd say you WILL have to remove the original glows but a lot of shots in ROTJ will make that very difficult.

I knid of need you to really explain things in detail to understand how you've done it and if there's a better way.

And I mean this in the nicest way possible but your effects come on too strong, you need to be a bit more subtle for them to be believable.

I would suggest finding some better / cleaner images to practice on and get a real feel for things to begin with.

A good idea might be adding sabers where there were none before [for practice]. Maybe try adding glows to regular swords?

DOOM: knee deep in the edit. (* unfinished project *)

Sounds good, Although I don't really want something about death and destruction for the first act - cuz not much has really happeed yet.

I'm considering maybe using "Knee deep in the dead" for act 2 and "Thy flesh consumed" for act 3.

* I might try find a place for "Don't fear the reaper" - the song. I may also use that as the third act title...

Keep the suggestions coming. I'll try post some more ideas soon and see how this idea is shaping up.

Info Wanted: Blade Runner Soundtrack

Not as of yet as far as I know, But I'm pretty sure that is exactly what forum member 'focuspuller' is trying to creat here - Blade Runner: The Complete Music Collection *note: Internal link.

focuspuller said:

What it has: The most complete collection of tracks related to Blade Runner ever offered. Completely restored, reproduced, rearranged, edited, remixed, and reengineered for the best possible listening experience.

What it doesn't have: Music with sound effects from the film. You won't hear spinners flying by (not that I don't love them).

DOOM: knee deep in the edit. (* unfinished project *)

I've been thinking about splitting the film into 3 acts. Moving the Main titles forward into the intro sequence - In the darkness of the vent shaft...

I was hoping to use throwbacks to the games like "knee deep in the dead" for the act titles, But I cannot as of yet think of anything appropriate for the first act. Wherein the marines go to mars and assess the situation.

I wanna mock up some quick title cards and check the film to see if the idea will be viable...Any suggestions would be great.

I had some more ideas but I've been out all weekend so no time to test anything. If anyone else has ideas, post 'em here [no matter how cheesy] and i'll post more when i've got some notes and examples...

I think I'm one of the few who actually enjoy the film as is, Although I do see it as flawed. But then It might be fun to view the story in a different way.

I'm all for tying it a bit closer to the games as well, That's one of the things I've looked into, Using more familiar sound effects etc.

I'm working on a test with that Shot above for [Anaglyph] 3d [Red / Cyan glasses]. It's sorta looking good although it may not be a great shot to try cuz the hallway seems a little soft / blurred where it's better to have nice crisp details for that sort of thing, for your eyes to focus on.

Have you been alseep for the last decade?

Saving Private Ryan
The Terminal
Catch Me If You Can

I thought War of the Worlds was awesome, and am always surprised to find some people didn't like it. A.I. is the only real clunker he's had but its a very interesting film, and Minority Report is quite good too. I'd say the latest batch of films are among the best he has ever done.

I guess it's just down to personal tastes. I quite liked AI but HATED War of the worlds and Saving private Ryan.

Does you modem have a reset switch. Mine has the kind where you poke say a pin or paper clip into a hole in the back - akin to a force eject on some dvd drives.

When we were having phone line hassles earlier in the year the modem was playing funny buggers for a bit afterwards. I had to press and hold the reset for about a minite and then all was well.

I've no idea what your problem is but that may be worth a try if simply powering down doesn't do the trick...

DOOM: knee deep in the edit. (* unfinished project *)
Time

I was recently browsing fanedit.org and noticed that someone had done a fan edit of the movie DOOM. In face it turned out to be a fanedit of a fanedit. - Doom the Posessed, Re-Cut.

So I downloaded it being quite curious but it actually left me disappointed. It was my understanding that they tried to keep a dark tone to the movie and cut down on cheese, but in the end a lot of this was in tact and in fact some of the parts i liked best had been removed. Now i don’t mean to put anynew down but with me as the audience this edit failed in it’s intent.

I started thinking about how to present to movie in an interesting way…Later that day I watched Planet Terror…You can probably see where this is going.

I decided that it might be fun to give doom a bit of a grindhouse treatment and aim for a more budget shlock sort of look and feel.

Ther were also several areas of the film I felt could be improved that faneditors had not touched on, Including the music. I consider myself a fan of Clint Mansell but a lot of the music here is subtle and not very memorable. I’d also planned to add some rock and roll music in places - ie: the token helicopter scene.

So anyway here’s some quick ideas i’ve thought about. I haven’t actually dona any work on this proper, just planning out some ideas and seeing what, if anything, is viable…What do people think? I’d probably tone down anything that’s too distracting…

http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/7739/41768967um8.jpg

To be clear the intent is not so much to make the movie scary - which i WILL be working at, but moreso to create something that’s fun to watch. I’ll gladly add things that seem over the top if it works in terms of entertaining.

At this point I’m just fishing for ideas.

If Steven dirtected the filma nd you didn't like it then your qualm is with him. This was a movie he CHOSE to direct based on a Script presented to him. He's not a child being led by the hand.

No it wasn't awesome but who HONESTLY expected it to be after all these years? I went in with that in mind, and for the most part it was enjoyable. I was also treating it as a distraction while waiting for more hotly anticipated films...

Granted the plot went pear shaped towards the end. I'd have to echo what others have said and say my biggest disappointment aside from the ending was the sheer lack of music.
