Yes but the book reading was shot just not included, ergo my double dip comment.
In the trailers you also have the chalice from the beginning of the film resting on the altar where the green jewel is in the theatrical cut.
Yeah, I was agreeing with you. It exists in some form but was not included.
Here's something else i just noticed -
What's happened to his face? - interesting to note that the bit where she hits the panel to open the door is different in each version, both the extended and theatrical versions of the scene cut right from his face looking normal to scarred.

Jon Spaihts interview with Empire. Definitely worth reading IMO.
re: double dipping - iirc there was one part from the trailers I've not seen anywhere else - with Shaw and Holloway at the dig site. So I guess it's possible..
And wasn't Peter Weyland originally meant to be in the background of the Fifield attack scene?
The engineer doesn't look at the books in the extended scene - he walks in and runs his hand through the chandelier - he seems as amazed with that as David is with the map holograms...then Shaw hits him with the axe - a LOT - then she unleashes the squid.

hey, that's cool. I welcome ideas and suggestions.I really should update the thread with the current state of progress. The teleporter idea you suggest is very close to what I have - lifting and tweaking footage from Stargate. I've looked at a lot of those films and a lot of others for footage and ideas..

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn: Part 1
Pretty decent so far. The story isn't really about the Master Chief [the main protagonist from the games] but he'll show up at some point. At this point we've met the characters and gotten a hint that something dark is coming..
Also started watching Season 2 of Homeland. Great show that...

Looper (2012)
Loved it. Fantastic world, great pace, fun concept. JGL looked a little weird but he did a good job of aping some of Willis' mannerisms. Great film.

Minecraft
I just don't 'get' it.
Doom
Play it all the time on 360 - I wish they'd put out more map packs like the bonus episode that came out with doom 2 on 360. I've never actually finished Doom 2 without cheating - I've made it all the way to the final level jbut I just can't seem to time my rockets..
Dishonoured
I hear good things about it but I'm just not sure, it just seems like too much of a mish mash of other things. I might check it out if I get desparate.
Borderlands 2
I'd like to say I got burnt but I knew full well what to expect, There's a bit of fun here and there but it's basically more of the same - Like an expansion pack.
I wasn't going to get it but I wanted something to burn through while I wait for Halo 4...I might try finish it quick and see if i Can trade it in towards my Halo 4 pre-order.
Halo 4
Anyone got big plans for it? November 6 [release day] is a public holiday over here [Melbourne Cup] so that's cool. I'll be going to a midnight launch with some friends but it wont be a big event, there wont be people in costume or anything like that.
Black Mesa: Source
It's not bad but I was never really into Half-Life. I only ever played snippets so I'm probably not the best person to pass judgement. It looks pretty decent with the visuals cranked but I don't think I'm very far along - I just got my first weapon - a crowbar, Now i'm wandering around a lab somewhere.

Cool, I prefer Dropbox. It's simple to use and i can access it on my tablet when I'm out and about.
I've been checking out some of the 'transmission' clips on youtube - while they probably wouldn't be ideal to insert as they are I can see bits and pieces that can probably be pinched.
Watched the longer TEDTalk clip, It's got some good stuff. Weyland still comes off a little rant-y but he seems to be trying to convince people rather than just showing off..there are still parts that exist in both parts that i'd trim out.
I've been thinking about the possibility of removing the squid from the plot entirely - maybe some of the David montage from the start could be used later on to fill in the gaps.
I don't think we'd lose anything important by not seeing him alone on the ship early on. Given that his skills as a translator aren't needed until the end of the film we could probably see him practicing later on during the storm while most people are just sitting around..

The funny thing is for me I loved the original opening, would have moved the Isle Of Skye into one of the dreams David is watching but the real crap starts with the briefing scene.
This. I was just thinking about this and had an idea. I'm really not keen on seeing all this text in a suposed dream sequence but why not keep Shaws dialogue - or some of it [from the quiet eye viral video] and combine it with footage from the Isle of Skye sequence - keeping any of that dialogue if / when needed. That would seem more dreamlike to me, kind of real but a mish mash of memories.
That would help in justifying the removal of the briefing scene since -
A - we've gotten a taste of Peter Weyland nice and early eslewhere
B - we get an idea of what these science geeks are into.
C - both Holloway and Vickers give out inaccurate info in the briefing.
D - the crew should know what's going on before they get there..
E - The Weyalnd hologram lies to the crew but wants them to trust him at the same time.
and the best part - the Hyper Sleep music from Alien could be used in the background.
I would probably go right from the Tedtalk to the initial space shot - with something like "X MANY YEARS LATER" onscreen then cut directly to David walking in and spying on Shaw dreaming. cue Jerry Goldsmith..

The music replacement on the map room scene was great. On the whole I liked the Prometheus score but there are places where it doesn't seem to fit. I really liked the change here..
The insertion of the viral clips feels a bit jarring, with a bit of refinement it could work nicely.
I'd agree about trimming some of David's early scenes - especially the Lawrence of Arabia stuff after we just saw Weyland recite the scene..
I'd also consider reworking some of the scenes to imply David roaming around doing his own thing while the rest of the crew eat breakfast etc..
I actually had a similar idea to use Peter Weylands speech for an opening scene but overlaying snippets from the extended waterfall opening. I'd also end the speech with "WE are the GODS now!" - Then have the movie title appear during that initial space shot.
I really like the idea of more focus on Peter Weyland and David, and less on the rest of the crew.
Ultimately I'd love to remove things that contradict ALIEN to imply that it is the same ship on the same moon sending out the same message - maybe combine Shaw's final message with the garbled transmission that the Nostromo crew listen to.. Not sure if it can be done but that would be my dream edit of the film - that is the film I wanted Prometheus to be.
More of an alien3 feel / style would definitely be welcome - in flicking through the deleted scenes I noticed a part where Milburn picks up what looks like shed skin on the ground - it reminded me of that scene from Alien3 in the turbine..."in the year 2525..."

Total Recall [2012]
wow..This thing is terrible, I wasn't expecting a masterpiece but it isn't even fun as a mindless action flick.
The movie tries to deviate from the earlier Verhoeven flick - ie: There's no Mars - but it's full of awkward references and nods to it..
Avoid it. Zero Balls.

The Babymakers
To be honest I expected a lot more from these guys, Previous efforts have been a lot of fun but this film feels really flat in a lot of places.
1 ball.
The Hunger Games
Saw the first half while out and about visiting friends, I reserve judgement until I've seen the whole thing but there's already things I like and don't like - and I'm sort of biased against it through my love of Battle Royale.
The Avengers
Still a fun action movie.
Margin Call
Great movie but I really wasn't in the mood when I saw it so it's kind of hard to put a value on it.
