I am much more than 20 pounds overweight,  its more like 100 pounds overweight with me.  My hairline has also forsaken me.   I don' know how you just go out and get a date.  That seems impossible to me.   But I will consider what you've said.  Thanks.

100 sounds like a lot but that's only about 45kg or so, right? That seems manageable. If you wanna shed fast you'll need a hardcore workout but if you've got time to spare I recommend jogging. It definitely works.

I only do it from time to time but I definitely lose weight when I do. It wont really cost you anything and if you are body conscious then you can jog around your neighbourhood after dark - it should be light enough to see where you are going yet dark enough that people wont stare at you.

In the next town over there's a  horse trotting track, in the cooler months I sometimes go with a friend and jog around that a few times. Although I did trip on a horse shoe one night..

You just need to stay hydrated and don't push yourself too hard too fast, start light and work your way up - you'll most likely need to rub down with a heat gel at least the first few times so your muscles don't ache.

oh and make sure you do some stretches to warm up and cool down.

The key thing is being motivated and the best thing for that is to try stick to a routine. set aside specific days and times for working out /. exercising, otherwise it is too easy to just let it slide and wind up watching tv instead.

A good routine for me is going out on a wednesday night around 8pm, meet up with friends, warm up, walk for a bit, jog a few kilometers, walk for a bit, cool down, load up on things like oats and yoghurt, watch an episode of something like battlestar galactica.

It's a lot more fun with others, see if you can convince anyone to join you?

I'm not saying it is easy but if you stick with it you will see results, I am pretty active but I'm a little overweight because I snack too often and skip proper breakfasts most days.

iirc Sluggo is more coherent than such. I know peeps from 005's corner of the world have a wicked accent. When they say John it sounds like Khaaaaaan!!!

eat 12 jelly beans? How is that a challenge? - how about identify 12 jellybeans while blindfolded. although in cheaper brands a lot of them taste the same..

12 days of christmas related stuff would probably be a good idea, keep things fun and festive..maybe see who can sing it the fastest without stuffing up

Glad to see I'm not the only one on a BSG train of thought.

if you work in an office environment then 12 pushups mught be a big ask of some people.

you could play 12 degrees of kevin bacon ;)

re 12 monkeys - I can name 5 off the top of my head [the film has a lot of 'that guy's]

Madeline Stowe

Bruce Willis

Brad Pitt

David Morse

Christopher Plummer

Well they've had a few specials in between and season 4 was longer than usual with a pretty long finale, so it hasn't been to bad. Still, Can't wait for new episodes. The show just keeps getting better all the time.

My favourite episodes are pinstripes and poltergeists and everybody comes to Hank's. - both season 4 eps.

I'd encourage people who trailed off to give it another go. if it turns out that it isn't your thing then that's cool.

Just watched Blood of the father, Heart of steel. Good fun. Wouldn't mind watching it in chronological order but it probably wouldn't have the same charm.

Skyfall Discussion (Spoilers Big and Small)
Time

Wow, either we never hear from xhonzi or he posts nonsense 12 times and then writes a song about it.

I assume your comment about calling the cops was in regard to Home Alone and not Skyfall. iirc Kevin witnessed one of the robbers actually dressed as a policeman during the film. I haven't seen it in a while.

In skyfall, Bond went to a place he knew well. The house had a stocked gun room but all the guns were sold off to a collector upon news of his apparent death. So, to be fair he was expecting the house to be better stocked when he arrived.

I do agree that M should never have been in the house once Silva's men arrived.

Saw the trailer for that last night - looks kinda in the style of Forrest Gump / Slumdog Millionaire - average person goes on an incredible adventure.

It does looks stunning, though. Might try see it in 3d if available.

Also saw two different trailers for Les Miserables - it looks interesting but I just don't know about Russell Crowe in there..

and after what seemed like an eternity of TV adverts on the bigscreen I finally saw Skyfall. I kept forgetting it was out til some friends dragged me along.

I feel like Casino is always going to be my favourite Bond by a long shot. I just love everything about it - so any other is judged against it.

[I'm also one of the 5 people who enjoyed QOS]

Skyfall felt a bit uneven at the start but they managed to shoehorn in a lot of fun moments. There were a few cliches they could have done without. overall.

3 Balls. I'm tempted to deduct a ball for the theme song, but I guess it's comparable to the other films.

Star Trek Into Darkness

Starship Troopers had no sequels!

re: The Borg, First Contact era and the Enterprise E - isn't this current universe [the Abrams stuff] meant to be like a branch where both timelines continue to exist? If so, that stuff shouldn't really be affected by this new timeline.

re: the title - it kinda feels like they are digging themselves a hole out of refusing to deal with this stuff on the previous film. They knew then that they could not simply call all future films "star trek".

re: Superman - I think it IS possible to make a film about the character that doesn't suck, I just don't think we'll see that any time soon. Film makers just seem content to re-tread the same ground. - We don't need to see a young Clark Kent again, we've seen that enough and there was a TV series [Smallville] about young Clark that ran for 10 years.

doubleofive! You're alive.

I think they are elite soldiers instead of the rank & file models we've seen before.

Possibly. It might even be as simple as they are cylons built by other cylons, not by man..It's just that I've never seen them before. Not a complaint, just curious about them.

Right now I just hope they don't kill off Coker. Adama is safe, unless there is yet another Willie Adams in the pipeline ;) and I think Beka [sp?] will probably die. One of the two will probably have a hero's death allowing the others to escape...

I'm a bit unclear as to the fate of Xander atm, He got shot but he seemed kinda okay...

I might have to rewatch all the episodes in one hit before watching the finale.

watched 7 and 8.

Some good parts but both episodes felt really short - at least, to me. The piano scene could have been a whole episode on it's own.

So, are these Cylons meant to be an updated design that fits somewhere between the classic era and the nubsg era? - or are they some sort of genetic experiment?

Caprica ended with a handful of designs but in Razor we saw that the Caprica era design were still being used at the end of the war.

Hopefully we'll find out a lot more about them before the end.

Watched parts 5 and 6.

The abundance of parts BSG and Caprica actors is a bit distracting but otherwise it's pretty interesting.

mild spoiler..

again with the ice planet. always with the ice planet...

re: the plan. It would have been much more interesting to see the start of Cavil's plan rather than the failed end of it. I mean he kinda sabotaged himself at the end there.

Since they brought in the final five actors to lay in bathtubs full of slime they could surely have written something substantial for them - it would have been interesting to see their actual selves to contrast their programmed personalities within the colonial fleet.

there's a lot of ground they could have covered - the initial meeting, Cavil growing jealous of Daniel etc..even expanding upon the Razor flashbacks.

I've been playing through Halo 4: Spartan Ops on Legendary [really hard] setting. With the 3rd episode out the missions are beginning to open up and become a little more varied which is good.

The cutscenes are also getting pretty interesting. The Halo Waypoint team have been posting them on youtube - http://www.youtube.com/user/HaloWaypoint?feature=watch - There are mild spoilers since it's set 6 months after the main campaign but otherwise it's pretty safe.

Haven't really played much else lately, just various Halo 4 modes.

I agree about Misfits - it just doesn't hold my attention anymore. I hope it gets better but I feel like the main storyline is told now.

I've been watching a lot of Bob's Burgers lately. I saw it a while ago and was turned off by the somewhat crude animation style but I've started getting into it. It also stars H Jon Benjamin who plays the title character in Archer [love that show.]

They aren't actual webisodes (a gimmick I loathe!), it is the actual pilot episode of Blood and Chrome unceremoniously chopped up into short segments and delivered as webisodes.

This was originally developed as an online project. I feel like there’s a certain record to set straight, which was a little bit frustrating to me, a few months ago, when I saw the headlines that the Blood & Chrome project had somehow been rejected, or was a failed pilot, or wasn’t going to make it on the air. It was never intended to be a traditional pilot, so to speak, such that Syfy not picking it up in a traditional manner to an episodic series was some kind of a rejection or failure. It was always developed, at least from my point of view, as a project for an online environment. It was something that we built as a ten-part serial, kind of in the style of the 1930′s style movie serials, where you have ten minutes of story and a cliffhanger, followed by ten minutes of story and a cliffhanger. And then, after ten of those episodes, it would all resolve itself in a pre-act structure, as a whole movie. But, it was never any kind of rejection or failure that it didn’t wind up as another Syfy pilot.

I can recall when the plan [;)] for the series was first announced and it was laid out as David stated. SyFy started dicking around [pretty late in development - possibly even after completion] with various ideas. Then they put it on the shelf for a while, then finally went ahead with the original broadcast idea and released it online. I'm not sure if Machinima were involved early on or not. It's possible SyFy were going to host / air it themselves.

It actually seemed at first like it would be more in line with the previous BSG webisodes - low low budget, a few minutes apiece but B&C looks incredible.

Just watched Part four and can't wait for the next two. No idea why they are releasing 2 at a time, they officially announced that after the first 2 eps aired but if they'd stuck with one a week it would have ended right before the bluray release..

I love the cutscenes for Spartan Ops [or sp.ops if you will], good fun and good quality.

The missions themselves are a bit bland solo but good fun in co-op - although I've gotten a few moments of lag here and there [gameplay is usually smooth].

I can't see it being successful beyond the first season if they don't shake things up, especially if they expect to charge money [or MS points] for further seasons.

It's still early but they really need to vary the mission goals - and add vehicle based missions - ie: you can't complete your goals without them.

right now it's button pressing mixed with moments of firefight. Something more akin to Tsavo Highway [Halo 3] could be fun - or even The Arbiter / The Oracle [halo 2] - Lots of aerial combat, assassinate a high value target [ie: boss level].

re: reach - I did enjoy it at first but ultimately it feels disappointing. I do love Long night of Solace though - that last ditch effort to turn the tide before things really get fucked up. Although - Why the hell does Jorge throw six out an air lock to plummet down to the planet surface? - there's a squad of Sabres parked not that far away..

The end of the game just didn't have the impact it should have. And the rest of Noble team were beyond frustrating - Immortal on the battlefield yet they contribute nothing, always going into armour lock, using inappropriate weapons AND not being able to equip them like you can Marines / ODSTs, They can't drive half as well as the worst Marine AI..i'm sure there's more I've forgotten.

Been working on a CTF map [with settings] in Forge - latest versions are in my fileshare [Gamertag = Yegore] if anyone wants to check it out and gimme feedback. You can have the best intentions but sometimes people just don't play a map they way you hope.

Never used it, but I hate the way it looks.  Not everything has to be a tablet!

You're wrong. Everything has to be a tablet.

(Also, you don't have to use the MetroUI if you don't want to.)

Yes you do - even if you're just passing through on your way to the desktop. You must boot into the metro ui.

And it fails at being intuitive - i spent ages trying to figure out how to log in - there was absolutely nothing to indicate i had to 'swipe' the screen up - and this was on a PC. What the fuck Microsoft?

I fucking hate Metro. Aside from that the desktop environment is clean, fast and seems efficient.

I would recommend you stick with 7 as long as possible.
