An existing user does not need to use the same IP address to create a new account, LOL. You apparently know more than most because I hadn’t seen the mods say anywhere that said research didn’t reveal anything.

Because I did the responsible thing and tattled to Wook on 234 as soon as he appeared.

If you knew who it really was, could prove it, and hit the report button I could see it as tattling for the better of all. If all you did was send a pm suspecting a sock/dummy/troll account then you did what anyone of us would do and should do. It still doesn’t answer the question of who it is, and whose IP it matches, if any. This person states they can easily be identified by and IP check. If that is true and no-one publicly comes forward with who it is it would make any reasonable person think there is an alternative reason for not sharing that information. The possibilities of the reveal could be any number of scenarios.

As long as no-one reveals the true ident of that account and/or if it matches the IP of anyone here or a known troublemaker previously banned, all conjecture is just conjecture.

I have taken to signing out completely when I leave here. That helps some. When I come back it’s always the same. A half dozen other members have HAD to have their say and it never fucking ends. Do you honestly believe that antagonizing someone you want to leave is helpful? I can’t imagine you do.

My advice is this: there isn’t one solution that will make you happy, and make everyone else happy. Thats what i mean when i say be OK with us all completely disagreeing. You can’t impose your will on everyone on this forum anymore than they can impose it on you. It really seems like the only answer you want to all your complaints, is for everyone to start liking your posts more?

If you want to get along with people better online, i think your only choices are being more selective in sites you visit (knowing they already like you), or agree to disagree with people on the sites you choose to be on (ot.com), and don’t drag out every argument. you have to loose arguments sometimes man. I’m good with disagreement. I just apologized to Frink for being wrong about something. I am not looking to impose a will. What I am looking for is that the standard be set for everyone, not just myself. Jay has already made it clear that Frink has been given a wider latitude than most. Frink has said he can’t just walk away. He will continue to antagonize as long as I post. Do you at least recognize the basic inherent problem in that? I am also not the only one who drags out arguments and there is more than enough proof of that in other threads.

I can lose arguments. I can accept defeat. I can accept your reasonable advice. Can you accept not telling others who are guilty of the same thing what you just told me? That may be more difficult than one might care to admit considering and I understand why it would be. Band-aids only work for as long as they stick.

I chose to see something positive in your visit. It is sad that you and most other members chose the opposite. What I do know is that the “identity” of the other account has not been revealed publicly and I doubt this one will be. I conclude from that alone that it might be someone here and that if their identity were revealed members would be upset because of the “no sock” rule … which includes you as you had to give up your socks, so no, I don’t readily believe it is you.

Now, that “could” also imply that someone was allowed in around that rule, and allowed to post long enough to cause issue. No one had permission to circumvent anything. No mods are posing as socks. Registration reopened weeks ago. Anybody is free to wander in now; I used to think that was the cause of the decline in the overall quality of posts here, but some of the senior members are causing me to rethink that conclusion.

I was asked why I felt the way I did by Frink. I answered. If that is all it takes to be labeled as such here, I’ll own it.

FTR, I tried taking something positive away from the experience. Is that a problem?

“This” person says they can be identified by an IP check. If that is the case, wouldn’t someone have revealed the culprit openly the first time around and this time?
