I hope the new rules forbid whiny back-seat modding…

If some of you could actually just not respond to every little post with snarky remarks you would not have to be reminded that you were asked to stop. Apparently some here feel the rules still do not apply to them. Maybe that will finally change when things are rolled out. In the end I’m going to end up getting back talk like this from some no matter what is or is not said or reported/ not reported. Oddly you didn’t back talk bkev …weird? I don’t think so, but anyways, whine all you want about the rules. It is your choice.

I like that TV’s Frink isn’t a supporter of Fidel Castro like Colin Kaepernick is.

I also like the weird back and forth flirt thing that he and Jetro do.

Enjoy the snark now while you can I guess. And who is Jetro?

😦

Just a reminder for those who think it does not apply to them …

It’s great to see everyone getting along 😄

Can some of you just not help yourselves? Is it a compulsion? Is it actually more difficult >to say nothing than to go after somebody? I’m annoyed more by some of you than you seem to >be by the OP.

Regardless of how I feel about the OP and his threads, I agree with the sentiment. STOP >ATTACKING EACH OTHER FFS.

New rules for Off Topic are coming. Control yourselves in the meantime.

The “splices” are just the physical glue marks that were used to edit the negative together. They’re just visible in the HDTV transfer because of how much picture information was saved. There is nothing unusual about them and erasure is not a good idea (The Blu-Ray does this anyway).

Also, any restoration of Monster Zero using a Japanese source is a fool’s errand because all Japanese film sources of the uncut version are inherently INFERIOR to the domestic U.S. elements (which are in desperate need of a re-scan a la the Classic Media Gargantuas).

The uncut camera negative of Monster Zero doesn’t exist anymore. The uncut version Toho uses for video is a foreign element several generations removed from the OCN and it has stabilization and fading problems.

Using the Classic Media reconstruction of Ghidrah is a fool’s errand as well (I realize you acknowledge the sync errors, but there are unnoticeable visual ones as well). It’s not very accurate and pretty clumsy at times. If you want to carefully re-create Ghidrah, use an original 16mm source like I did for my SD reconstructions. Also, the best (incomplete) source for the audio is the 16mm print on the Australian Siren Entertainment DVD since it’s not an old 1 inch tape master.

Ghidrah also has a shot that’s longer than in any existing Japanese source (a shot of Infant Island when the Shobijin summon Mothra).

The end title you did is pretty good (nice work removing the “Owari”), but it’s not accurate. The 8mm Ken Films 'scope version of Ghidrah shows that the end title is supposed to be stretched to widescreen:
https://s30.postimg.org/gnizs8k4x/vlcsnap_2016_12_17_09h02m32s183.png

I made that mistake myself when I did my reconstruction. I’ve since corrected it:
https://s29.postimg.org/qrvkj7vc7/vlcsnap_2016_12_17_09h05m34s217.png

BoxMonster and I collaborated on a version of the opening credits in 720p with fake gate weave and grain for the freeze frames and a font that’s very similar to the original. I still have the .mov he sent me.

What about the Ghidrah Anchor Bay VHS release I uploaded to the spleen? Would that be of any use?

Your capture is unmistakably better PQ-wise, but I’ve had my own rip of the Anchor Bay tape to work with for quite some time. I also have a hi8 recording of a Disney Channel airing of the same video master.

Do our VHS captures have all the same issues some of these other sources have?

Those versions, whether or not they end up being final, are probably years off. He’s working on Empire 2.5 now.

I certainly wouldn’t put off watching Despecialized until 3.0 comes out. I would maybe consider holding off on burning Empire until 2.5 comes out, but if you just want to watch the films right now, there’s no reason to wait.

Ahh okay. Is empire the furthest one along? I thought all three were at 2.5? What stage or version are they all at if you don’t mind me asking?

No, it’s the least. It’s currently at 2.0. Jedi is at 2.5. I worked with Harmy to make some updates to SW, so it is at 2.7 now.

Oh didn’t know that. Then thank you very much for all the work you do! Figure I should probably download the newest versions then. I assume it’s all just on myspleen? My old account should hopefully work, even though it’s two years old…

2.7 is probably >99.5% Harmy’s work. 😃

As for your account, it might be inactivated. If so, ask about it on the myspleen forums and they’ll deal with it, instead of trying to get a second account.

Hey so it seems like myspleen is locked permantly? How would you advise I get the most updated versions now?

Use their forum to see if you can get your account sorted.

Let’s be honest, you’d like to see everything you don’t agree with or understand be a punishable infraction.

Lets … I understand that the necro-bumping of threads moves other, undesirable threads away from the front page and in to obscurity to keep others from either posting in them or seeing what others have posted in them, I get it.

I also understand that if people are necro-bumping so many threads at once, it means they have lost their knack at creating new and interesting threads that might actually be cool and fun, instead of lame and sucktastic.

Also, I don’t agree with publicly saying people should die or be forcibly raped because they may not see an issue as I do, that should be punishable (I actually thought it was but after reporting those 3 incidents absolutely nothing happened). You apparently should be far more thankful for the extra latitude you are shown instead of acting like you are entitled due to your “faneditor” mythos.

Here’s a silly question. How do get to the PM’s?

You just signed up and all you want is an invite to get stuff?

😦

This particular question was where in the profiles do PMs show up.

But yeah. I downloaded versions last year and saw this thread and asked for a myspleen invite like many others have.

The problem I have is that none of you will be contributing members here because all you want is a spleen invite. Sadly, we have people still giving them out willy nilly, and that sucks for us.

😦

I’m not sure I see the downside. You get new members to the forum and maybe give them a chance to contribute. Some will. Some won’t.

At the end of the day people just want to download and experience the project.

If I need 50 or 100 or 500 posts before an invite we’ll so be it.

Meanwhile I’ll go back to watching ANH v2.5

The problem is that people ask for myspleen invites from existing myspleen users, download despecialized, maybe seed it or only leech it, and then never leech/seed anything else on the site. The site owners hate these kinds of people because they dilute the value of not only having a private tracker, but having one of the most unique and vibrant trackers out there, myspleen. Jetrell is right to be upset, and I echo his sentiment. If you are asking for a myspleen invite, be prepared to fully contribute. If you just want despecialized, there are other official and unofficial means of getting it.

This goes for everybody else asking for myspleen invites in this thread, too. If you truly wish to join myspleen, then please do not just hit and run the site for despecialized. Stick around, seed, and look for other cool things to grab and seed. Maybe even upload something, too. There are many ways to contribute to myspleen, but hitting and running is a cardinal sin on this and all other private trackers.

I never asked for a MySpleen invite but Blackout gave me one when I said that I don’t have a MySpleen account.

And yeah, I don’t hit-and-run despite my poor ratio but my ratio is only poor because the torrents I usually download are in very low demand and the Despecialized Editions aren’t the only things I got from MySpleen despite it being the main draw to this website.

For example, I found some weird official Star Wars Christmas album called Christmas in the Stars which is now very rare as well as some neat The Making of the Star Wars Trilogy documentaries.

And Star Wars wasn’t the only thing I found, I found the complete series of Clarissa Explains It All, which is now obscenely rare except for Hulu Plus who has most episodes, but even that isn’t the complete series.

Now I can carry the legacy of my teenage years to my son, from Clarissa Explains It All to the unaltered Star Wars Trilogy.

I also found some other neat and interesting stuff other than those aforementioned things.

I will backup as many of my downloaded torrents on blank DVDs as time goes on.

I will also keep seeding for as long as possible.

And as for uploading stuff, I am now scouring around the net for a FLAC version of Clarissa and the Straightjackets: This is What “Na Na” Means to upload on MySpleen and maybe make my own DVD-9 version of the Despecialized Editions with bonus features and alternate sound mixes if I get the basics of DVD authoring.

You won’t last there if your ratio continues to suck. Other people KNOW what’s there, and they come here for the invites, they don’t bother joining the spleen forum for their invite requests. History has shown that those droves of people coming here for invites never stay members here. They drop off because they get what they came for. We have members here that don’t give a damn about that issue so the leechers keep coming here.

😦

This is why I am very desperate to raise my ratio but unfortunately, my laptop is running out of disk space and I need to raise it, unfortunately, some torrents I downloaded (like Clarissa Explains It All) are of low demand and have very few, if any, leechers.

And unfortunately, I have very few material which may interest the Spleeners.

I am looking for that aforementioned Clarissa album (which some may want to download) but I am not really sure if Spleeners may be interested in some of my Star Wars VCDs, I have an official Philippine VCD of The Phantom Menace (which is in English), it’s the theatrical version but is pan-and-scan so some may not want to download it if they have the Japanese LaserDisc, I also have a bootleg of the timecoded leak of Revenge of the Sith in which the video is heavily compressed and has a wrong aspect ratio.

Anyways, what is the ratio threshold there?

The issue is your strategy. To raise your ratio you should find a torrent that is popular whether it is something you like or not. Download it and keep it seeding. This way as people come to download it it will raise your ratio. The key is to not be downloading everything else you see while you do it.

Yes.

This + schorman’s PCM audio = maybe the best version of From Star Wars to Jedi yet.

I just need a DVD-5 VOB format version but also with PCM audio since I am making my own Despecialized DVDs loosely based on the UK VHS Executor set.

P.S: Can you also make some DVD VOBs for The Making of Star Wars… as told by C-3P0 and R2-D2, SP FX - The Empire Strikes Back and Classic Creatures since I can’t convert the versions from the Blu-ray since my PC is very weak and can’t convert and/or HD video let alone SD and my PC would crash if I do.

I’m not trying to be rude here but this is the second thread in the project section where you “want” all this stuff, specially done to your liking, but I don’t see you offering much in the way of support for the folks your asking to do it.

You haven’t been a member here terribly long. You might want to consider a new strategy, otherwise your requests are going to become background noise to others who might consider helping you some.

Just something you might want to consider.
