Movies with wrong color grading *** UPDATED ***

I have always been on the side of the D-theater, think I have a rip somewhere

I have only an AVCHD of the D-Vhs but it's awesome to watch.  I would have loved a larger sized one for bluray but haven't been able to connect with one yet.  It is my go-to version of the Alien Director's Cut.

I also have the Halloween done by Cudney and the DiviMax release, both are Anchor Bay.

:)

mike, it IS the DC on D-VHS .....

We have it already it was in a thread of late I forget which and it had its own thread, thinking about it the DVHS is the DC so no way it syncs

Sci-fi Channel's Star Trek Special edition (a WIP)

I did! However, I didn't bring the VC device :p.  I can talk to him and see if he wants to rip any. I have a new kid on the way (due date in 2 weeks), so it's probably not happening for me anytime soon.

Congrats for sure.  Too bad your brother wouldn't loan them out to be archived.  I've got the necessary equipment to do the initial transfer.  Any editing for clean up or what not is a different story.

Please keep us posted and have fun with daddyhood, it's awesome.

Help: looking for... Star Wars OT HD rips

I resurrected this very old thread because I found out that all six episodes are over 100GB!

Here are the names of the files I found - not able to download them, though, as the torrents has no seeds and I can't use usenet:

c-sw1h264/Star.Wars.I.The.Phantom.Menace.1080p.h264.dd51.de.en.dc.ts (17.78 Gb)
c-sw2h264/Star.Wars.II.Attack.Of.The.Clones.1080p.h264.dd51.de.en.dc.ts (18.42 Gb)
c-sw3h264/Star.Wars.III.Revenge.Of.The.Sith.1080p.h264.dd51.de.en.dc.ts (17.62 Gb)
c-sw4h264/Star.Wars.IV.A.New.Hope.1080p.h264.dd51.de.en.dc.ts (15.79 Gb)
c-sw5h264/Star.Wars.V.The.Empire.Strikes.Back.1080p.h264.dd51.de.en.dc.ts (16.61 Gb)
c-sw6h264/Star.Wars.VI.The.Return.Of.The.Jedi.1080p.h264.dd51.de.en.dc.ts (17.41 Gb)

maybe someone could still be interested...

I could only ever find the AVCHD versions.  These would have been nice to have.  I'm just not interested in the wookiegroomer versions.

Well, I got the European BD, and more importantly, I found a software that allows for frame-by-frame editing, Solveigmm.

It has a short learning curve and the result is lossless, as no encoding is involved.

So I fixed the reversed shots on "Part of That World" and now I have a 16 GB video file (Without the sound that can be added later).

Other than the opening titles and the cut instead of fade when Scuttle is introduced, what would it take to put that edition on the top of the list?

Audio wise, as I had said, Jetrellfo's DTS cd's and a LD rip of the Stereo soundtrack (I can upload a small rip with the new mix for comparison and synching reference if needed)

As soon as I get my internet situation fixed I will make sure TLM is bumped up the "todo" list.

The easiest way to do this is continuous distribution, so that the files are stored in many places, and are continually being stored in new places.

If your preservation isn't freely available, it's probably not very well preserved.

Finally! I finally have someone who agrees with me that distribution is necessary for preservation.

I second this ....

Star Wars Prequels 35mm 4K Filmized Editions by Emanswfan (a WIP)

Much more revised version of the Opening battle (now the full scene).  This has better skin tones (though it could need a bit more saturation), now uses the real 35mm film scan for grain (just like the last two clips), further gets rid of the cartoony colors (look at the buzz droids now), and tried to enhance the detail without oversharpening.  This is pretty close to what is the final version, apart from some work to still do on the lasers and lightsabers.  I would again recommend watching in 1080p to see the grain and fine detail work.

Me likey very much!!!!  I too am excited for the final results of this project.

Idea: a 'Waterworld' Laserdisc Preservation? (* unfinished project - lots of info *)

There was never a 70mm blow up but both lddb and this forum says it had a 4.0 theatrical track.

I am saying in no way is that cinema disc 4.0 it is way too well mixed to be a 4.0 track upmixed to 5.1.

I am saying it was always 5.1

What if two DTS soundtracks actually exist, one 5.1 DTS-6 and one matrixed 4.0 DTS-S?!? Just a pure speculation...

THIS is possible.  I believe The Shadow has both a 5.1 and DTS-S .... these 2 I have though conversion of the DTS-S appears to be a different beast of sorts.

So you remixed it to 5.1? Because the center info is exact to what the hd-dvd has and not just voice

There was no remixing done by me.  The proggie essentially separates the channels per the DTS cinema standard.  Now, once that is done it CAN be adjusted is usually needed for home use compared to cinema use.

Why would it remix a 4.0 mix to 5.1 what would be the point? that is what I am getting at

It is possible that the 4.0 mix you speak of was for 70mm print (if it had one) showings.

adapter223 said:

hello, hope this helps You, I asked a guy who done the theatrical mix for Waterworld and he wrote this:

"When we mix for a film, we mix in a discrete mode, that being, we monitor without the Dolby or DTS matrix inserted into the monitors. For "Waterworld" we created a 5.1 mix for four formats: Dolby Digital, DTS, and SDDS and the 2 trk LT RT . I have no idea what happens once the project leaves for DVD mastering. It's done somewhere else, and sometimes not even on the studio lot. It's possible that the DVD made into a 5.0 was generated from the 2 trk Print Master."

This post from the other thread shows there was a 2 Trk LT RT mix done but I do not have it.  I have no information on what presentation the mix was created for.

Got it, will have a look

EDIT

it is a real 5.1 track, it is way too well mixed to not be, the surrounds are split and the center has dedicated info.

No way a machine did this automatically

If you're speaking about the DTS, the separation was done by a proggie that emulates the internal audio process of a DTS-6D machine .... far as I know.

Jonno said:

Hmmm - re. the theatrical DTS, three possibilities here;

1 - Waterworld had 5.1 DTS theatrically (as suggested in the other thread by the guy who actually did the mix) and the 4.0 information is incorrect

2 - Shawn's 4.0 rip had to be remapped within 5.1 because the decoder dictated it, but it still only consists of four discrete channels of information - have you checked that the LFE has content and the surrounds are split?

3 - The encoder actually processed the channels to derive a full 5.1 spread (including frequency filtering for the LFE). Obviously this is an undesirable outcome if we're after preservation

Anyway, I'm sure Shawn can quickly clear this up. Taking a long view on the choice of tracks, I'd suggest the following:

Theatrical DTS
Theatrical Dolby SR stereo (as represented by the LD PCM)
Blu-ray DTS-HD MA (a modern home theatre mix in lossless format)

Plus any foreign language dubs, subtitles that people request? That should cover all the generations of this soundtrack, unless folks know something else about intermediate versions (e.g. laserdisc and DVD DTS).

The .aud files I have would probably have all the info for the 4.0 mix.  If we can figure out how to separate to just a 4.0 mix I'd be happy to send the files to DB.

Few guys with cd roms

One of our members here knows disclord.  I'd like to get a copy of the Godzilla DTS discs.  I've been looking for them for awhile now.

Guess it's time I used my membership over there to participate in the forum.
