You're right.  It's been a few months since I did this and I couldn't find g-force's original post.  Anyway, thanks to G-Force as well.  That script really made a big difference.

I just got done watching these ..... so frickin cool, I loved them.  I'd like to think they find a place in an SE project somewhere down the road.  Nicely executed schorman ......  :)  :)

HALLOWEEN - Fixing the audio and re-creating 1999 color timing (Released)
Time

I am peaceful.  I am tired of people who seem to see themselves above others around here, especially when its directed towards those that have helped others out, in various and sometimes smaller ways.  A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link ..... teams are no different.  We are all here in this thread to help bring about the same effort for Halloween and I am tired of taking DJ's crap.

TeamBlu would not exist without the wonderful group of talent from here that he's recruited to help him out.  This website is full of people who have helped others out by having at least 1 piece of a missing puzzle.  They deserve no less consideration than any other 1 person here.

The question was honest.  I am not sorry I asked it.  And I cannot help that only 1 person got goofy about it.

Sorry again Matt ...... back to fixing Halloween, for all of our enjoyment.

I had a legit question.  I've screwed up a few things accidentally, admitted it, and fixed them.  I wasn't trying to argue about it.  Junk happens, to all of us.  Talking crap about a legit question isn't a very positive way towards a solution.

Maybe there were issues during capture?

LMFAO! yea that has to be it, you obviously know nothing when it comes to putting LD audio in sync with BD's and DVD's lol, anyone here who has done this before knows very well that you cannot just sync the start and end and hope all falls in place in the middle, Jonno, Matt Stevens, Ady, and several others that know how to do this know very well you will have drifting, more then likely because of frames, you have to line up the start and physically go through the entire time line through each and every side to get it absolutely right, maybe some of the others will chime in so you will actually believe it lol, I have done a ton of audio files for our releases and for a ton of personal stuff, so why don't you keep your little attempts at personally bashing to yourself? funny it gets brought up very nicely here to drop things so we can have a civil discussion and then you throw that comment out there lol, good form dude, good form.

I think a few of us in this thread have learned some very important things about our fellow members.

DoomBot and I had pretty good discussions by PM they just went to shit in this thread for whatever reason, but I do thank him for attempting this and I really do appreciate it because as I said I am just so damn busy with Team Blu Projects and would not be able to get this done soon for all to have, that said I was pretty surprised at how fast it was done, these take some time, and it is very tedious.

A fully in sync file is coming soon.

You are mistaken because my question is a legitimate one, not a dig.

Now, if you are saying that you have NEVER flubbed an LD audio capture by mistake, then I want you to pull out the undeniable proof for all to see and I'll gladly take any open bashing you want to give me without complaint.  I'd even consider closing my account here if it's irrefutable proof.

Lastly Master DJ, there is one thing you still have yet to learn, humility.

So you guys with sync problems, what player are you using to watch this? I watch it if it's the computer using Splash player. In my room or theater it's openelec xbmc.

Thanks for the feed back though on the audio.

Ya know, I had a similar thought and you beat me to it.  It seems that folks who burned it weren't having issues but those making files to watch on a pc were.  Guess that's how you came to this question?

LOL

Is W64 playable on most players (hardware and software)?

Wave64 is a proprietary format developed by Sonic Foundry Inc. In terms of audio quality, Wave64 files are identical to standard wave files, but there is one major difference:

In the file headers, Wave64 files use 64-bit values for addressing where wave files use 32-bit values. The consequence of this is that wave64 files can be considerably larger than standard wave files. Wave64 is therefore a good file format choice for really long recordings (file sizes over 2GB), e.g. live surround recordings.

Wave64 files have the same options as regular wave files and have the extension ".w64".

If the option "Show Broadcast Options for WAV64 Export" is activated in the Preferences (Record-Broadcast Wave page) a dialog will appear when you click Save to export the file.

This allows you to enter information (date and time, description strings etc.) to be embedded in the file. Note that you can enter default text strings for author, description and reference on the same Preferences page - these will automatically appear in the Broadcast Options dialog when it appears.

A Multichannel Interleave as a WAV64 file is a great way to go. Plus it keeps everything all in one place for storage.  When it comes to doing something with a WAV64 Interleave, when Nuendo is used they can split the channels on importing the file so they only work on one channel at a time.

Hope this helps some.

So is the Criterion PCM I provided in sync or not? if not I really need to know so I can either do it myself or see if anyone else wants to do it, also need to make this a regular PCM file there was no need for this to be a w64 file at all.

Thanks

ps. I would normally have just done this myself to begin with but we have so many projects going and a lot real close to being done that I just do not have time right now.

Sooooooo ..... you're thanking DoomBot for doing such good work on the sync and providing the finished file for all of those who have gotten it and not complained about the w64 file format?  Both of you helped folks out and you want to bite the hand .... at least your consistent.

I mean no disrespect DJ but your "my way or the highway" way of treating others is not something I cannot subscribe to.  It's unproductive and arrogant in a place where people kindly help each other to help everyone.

This is why I no longer talk to you.

My apologies for interrupting this informative thread.

For the disc, does everyone need the Target stuff AND the Best Buy? Or just the BB and the enhanced commentary?

Speaking for myself, I would appreciate a comprehensive all-inclusive release. I have the UK Blu with the regular featurettes, but I still think having everything in one place is sexier.

I appreciate the work you put into this. Many thanks.

This would be cool.  I have the US Wal-Mart 3D/Blu/DVD package but would like everything in 1 go-to disc if possible.

I grew up mostly watching the Criterion disc so that one is my go to.

I honestly can't remember the 99 DVD. Sold it off ages ago in favor of that LaserDisc.

I'll have to get my hands on this new Blu-ray.

I'd like to see the Criterion disc get captured nicely ... it would make a great companion for sure.  I grew up with the VHS since I wasn't in to LD at the time so when the THX disc came along I was pleased to see the change as it enhanced the experience for me.

got it in my collection actually

Too bad there wasn't an NTSC version to match.  PAL video is fine but the audio speed up is still something I can't get past .... LOL.

I love the way so many fans of the THX DVD refer to it as the "correct" colour-timing. As far as I'm aware there is no source material of any kind for determining what Halloween looked like in theatres in 1978. However it seems far more likely to me that the new BD is a more accurate reflection of the original colours since the THX timing just screams revisionism and bears all the hallmarks of digital tweaking that simply would not have been possible at the time of the film's release.

The fact that the THX colours might look "better" to some people does not make them correct.

I believe they were just happier with it due to Cudney's supervision of the project and the end results of his association and work with it.  The word "correct" is subjective no matter who says it.

How do you guys acquire these D-Theatre versions of movies. As I am sure they are not for sale or even found in the internet?

The net ..... It took a little searching but it is all I have.  There were some folks who did transfers of their D-VHS stuff and shared.  I only happened across this one some months back.  It has the home cinema DTS on it so that is nice.  I'd like to get the Theater DTS synched to it for comparison.

:)

I did like the JP shots from film .... they do look nice.
