Need advice on choosing new LD machine

I recently purchased a Panasonic LX-600. I wanted a machine with digital audio out and without CLV smear. I was considering the LX-900, but read there was an agc bug on some of them.

Thanks for reminding me!

Jetrell Fo: If you choose to get a Panasonic LX-900, make sure to get one that was manufactured in 1995. Panasonic didn't fix the AGC issue until late 1994.

None seen on eBay so far.  Know any place I might be able to score one?

Thanks

Who's laughing? I heard you... (^^,)

I strongly confide in vynil quality, but it should be captured using the best turntables and cartridges, and sound card, at high frequencies and bitrates. Nobody believes that a vynil could sound much better than CD, until one has heard it with his own ears...

I concur.  Well preserved vinyl can and usually is far superior to it's CD counterpart.  It's the dynamics of vinyl, quality equipment, and the skills of the person doing the transfer that really make that analog audio shine.

"Ask to see how they feel about it" is what I just did in that post. And of course there's no intention to take credit for the entire movie when all that's actually been changed is the crawl. It would essentially be a spinoff project which they would not need to be involved with, but credit for the movie portion would still be given where it's due.

I'm hoping that we can share and help each other out in this community, especially since these projects aren't done for profit. But I will abide by whatever Team Blu says

People DO share and help each other out in this community, I was merely making suggestions.  My apology if you felt my intention was in some way devious or harmful.

PM DJ, I'm sure he'd discuss things with you and offer helpful suggestions as well.

:)

A new thread will soon be started in the forum focused on creating a version of Star Wars exactly like yours and/or Harmy's, except with "A New Hope" crawl. Before starting the thread I just want to make sure I ask: does Team Blu grant permission for your preservation to be used in this project? It would be a lot easier if we could just attach the New Hope crawl to an existing preservation instead of starting from the ground up.

You should ask and see how they feel about it.  If you're doing it for personal use I don't see why you'd need to but if you're going to put it out there as "your project" you may just want to do your own.  To separate the two .... these are just ideas off the top of my head, so you know.

:)

Like I said, for us to even consider a request, which by the way there are some real good ones here, we need to know where these files can be retrieved lol, ideally it would be nice if you have them already and can upload them for us or at least tell me where I can find them.

Thanks

also I do have Krull now, just need the LD for this to make this work.

I will search out my request but methinks mine will be a difficult one .... they aren't really A-list flicks but they ARE cool as hell.

Ant,

Between the Panasonic LX-900 and the Pioneer CLD-D704?

Which one?  And should I consider a Line Doubler at some point?

I prefer the Panasonic LX-900. It displays no CLV smear whereas the Pioneer CLD-D704 is well-known for being one of the worst for CLV smear, despite being an overall good machine.

If you need AC-3 RF, Duncan Hunter of laserdiscservice.com does an amazingly-professional-looking AC-3 RF mod for the Panasonic LX-900.

If you get your hands on a Panasonic DMR-ES25, then you won't need a dedicated line doubler and you'll have an amazing 3D comb filter on your hands as well. It also has HDMI output.

What about the Panasonic DMR-EA18?  I have one of those.

Very happy to see The White Buffalo. What a treat.

Hey anyone know if it's possible to crack DVHS recordings that are Copy Once protected? I have numerous never going to be released titles on DVHS I'd love to rescue to Blu Ray.

Must be because I have Alien and True Lies plus others from DVHS. These are 1:1 .ts copies with no quality loss. I got them from Usenet years ago. I have no idea how the encryption was broken.

What size is the Alien DVHS?  I've only got the DVD9 version.

Cinemageddon doesn't take new members do they?  I've tried to get in there to no avail.

I'd love to see Fire In The Sky and Saturn 3.

I'm really surprised that I haven't seen ANY of the bonus content or special features being torrented anywhere on the internet yet. The film has been out on video for quite a while and the best you can get via download is the basic blu-ray release. I hope you guys succeed on this forum succeed in making a custom version with the Target/Best Buy/iTunes stuff, because it doesn't seem to be floating around anywhere else.

I'm guessing a fair amount of us bought discs for the extras instead of waiting to download them so that might be why you haven't seen anything yet.  As for the iTunes stuff ....... it just may not be worth the effort.  It's anyone's guess.  I personally can't stand iTunes and won't purchase anything from them so that's my deal ..... LOL.

Ya know, another possible caveat could have been "leave the fans alone".  George was already well aware of the fan base and what they wanted and worked on.  He rarely stood in the way of preservation's as far as I know.  It was work he didn't have to do and he knew fans were happier if they could try their own hand at things ..... hell, he made Star Wars on the cheap to begin with and people were still buying every version made, he had nothing to lose.
