Is there anyone (still) in possession of the theatrical DTS-track and willing to share it with me or tell me how I can get it? I'm aware that in rare cases, some are offered on eBay but it seems to be difficult to 1. get them and 2. convert them to the common 5.1 format since the LFE information is contained in the rear channels and lowpass-filtered and redirected to the subwoofers during playback in the cinema.

You should take this over to the DTS thread so as not to clutter up andrea's project notes and comparisons.

:)

@ andrea, I think that shot looks great.

Can anybody point me to any screencaps taken from the dtheater release?

I'm very interested in seeing how the colours look on this dtheater release and how they compare to the blu-ray.

Far as I know, the color timing for the dtheater version is unique to it's release.  Neither the DVD or Bluray share it's timing.

It certainly looks that way. It's got a colder feel to it than the blu-ray.

I like this look far better as it seems to deepen the loneliness of space for the crew and the story.

where is the cinema DTS taken from? Is its quality ~the same compared to the inbuilt DTS track? (aside from the bumper)

The cinema DTS you are asking about is taken from the "cinema" DTS audio tracks.  I hope that helps.

Help: looking for... Waterworld DTS 4.0 original mix (anyone have the DTS CD-Rom?)

I had read the others threads as well, but I wonder what you mean with "the info". Are you referring to the assumption that the so-called 4.0 mix is actually a 5.1 one (5.0 in terms of the technical Cinema DTS procedure) or that the mix provided by the Laserdics- or BD-releases is the same as the Cinema DTS one?

I believe people are talking about a theatrical mix, not laserdisc or bluray.

Has the soundtrack from this LD release ever been captured?

http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/06718/8760-85/Alien-%281979%29

I believe Jonno did this one as I believe it's source is the 70mm.  Funny, I just watched my copy of this today on the 55inch.  Jonno did a 70mm recreation and a DD from the soundtrack.  I have both put since it isn't the DC it may not synch.

We do have a special surprise coming for this release but I won't say anything about it until I get it myself.

;)

IIRC I did it... but my memory doesn't serve me so well lately, so maybe I'm wrong... or not?!? (^^,)

I was confused then because I have Jonno's version of it, LOL.

Andrea, did you forget to make a comment?  LOL

Can you even fit it on a BD25 since the file is already 22.2GB and with a menu? I suppose you could just strip out the ac3 file.

Well, it's either that or we go for an MKV file to handle the larger size.  If I had enough extras we could just do a BD50.

I do happen to have the Alien Saga DVD that can be difficult to get but it covers all 4 movies.

PDB n Buster .... any chance the other Star Trek movies on LD are going to have their audio preserved?  That would certainly be most awesome.

Thanks,

Shawn

Buster D was nice enough to do ST2, ST3 and ST4. Jonno was nice enough to do ST1 and ST2. I have ST6 ripped from the LD but not synced yet. No one has done ST5, I wonder why...:)

Anyway I'm traveling today Shawn but give me a day and I will upload and send you the links.

Cool, thanks.  I have V along with Generations, First Contact, and Insurrection on LD.  The last 3 are Japan pressings.

Thanks DJ.  I'm going to start a separate thread for the project.  I was just waiting until I had the ISO Score ripped and sync'd.  Which you've done and get proper credit for.

What I essentially have at this point is the HD-DVD video and the audio so that I could make a custom Bluray out of it.  If you want to do the Bluray itself, I see no issue with that.

This way we'll have 2 versions available if you're considering making your end a project.

I got your link and I'm going to be working on a menu myself and I may just do the artwork myself as well.

Cheers!!!!

No no, this is your guys project, I am totally happy with my "Movie Only" BD, we have way to many projects going for me to take on another lol.

I hope the Iso Score works out, it sounds really good on my system.

Thank you for your ISO score.  It will certainly be a nice surprise for fans of these things like us.  Your thoughts and ideas were helpful.

The Mummy - HD-DVD Hybrid Project ..... (* unfinished project *)
Time

Okay,

I know some folks have been reading and watching some of this.  DoomBot and myself have been wanting to do these as we go and it doesn’t always materialize quickly as is so often the case here … never a bad thing though.

Silverwook sent me his DVD and I figured out how to rip the ISO score from that Collector’s Edition.  dark_jedi had his own ripped and was kind enough to share the fruits of his labor with me.  I suggested to him that he should do the Bluray version of this project while we do the HD-DVD version.  This way there will be 2 versions for those who have a love for this film and would like both.

My question to anyone reading in interest is this … what audio versions and subtitles would you like to see with this?  I will attempt to do the artwork and the menus for this myself … we’ll see how that goes, LOL.

😃

Silverwook, a server issue caused it to post like 5 of the same threads, could you delete the others?  Thanks
