Movies with wrong color grading *** UPDATED ***
Time

The Crackle version seems to be the same as the HDTV (which might even be the DVD's HD master since so many of the color changes are the same). Now, if only somebody could somehow extract the 480p rtmp encrypted video from there. There's also an  Australian DVD by Madman of the U.S. version that might use the HDTV master.

Crackle version?  Could you elaborate as I am not familiar with the reference.

DTS audio preservation .... UPDATE 07 May 2015 ... Work In Progress
Time

h_h,

A huge thanks from me for taking the time to go over these with such a fine toothed comb ... no pun intended, lol.  All of us can benefit from your work and research when it comes to these things, myself included.  I will be doing some research of my own now for the decoding process.  Maybe it can be fixed so that the .wav files produced for people to work with can be more accurate right out of the gate.

Info: Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan - ABC cut
Time

I had ThisTv on in the background this evening as TMP was on. I was surprised TWOK came on after it. As I'm doing my internet thing, I swear I hear the extra McCoy line when he gives Kirk the glasses. Nah, it couldn't be...

So, I walk over to the tv around the time Kirk boards the Enterprise. Crossing my fingers here. Extended Peter Preston scene or not?

HOLY CRAP! IT IS THE ABC CUT!!!

Even the commercial breaks/fade outs seem to be in the same places. Who knew this this video master was even still around?

Does anyone have a really good feed for ThisTv they could record? According to the website, it will be shown again Sept. 23.  It is far too heavily compressed on my cable system. (Like a bad VCD.) We have got to get this recorded before somebody realizes they've let this version sneak back out!

The only downside is that annoying logo bug in the corner of the screen, and some popups coming out of commercial breaks. The popups ought to be gone by the time the extended footage comes up.

My home situation isn't back up to snuff yet.  I can watch this I just cannot record it.  I REALLY hope we have someone doing this recording.  I know the Trek fans here are passionate and would cherish this.  Here is to hope.

4K restoration on Star Wars
Time

while the "superior" Special Editions were stuck at 2K resolution because of the limitations of the technology used at the time.

This isn't entirely true.  Part of the limitations were the actual people doing the shotty work like Dippe and the people who didn't care like Lucas.

I like the Special Edition Trilogy for what it is, a moment in time, which is how it should have stayed.  Lucasfilm had too much on it's plate with their plans for TPM going on while they were working on this.  TPM even suffered some for the same reasons but I like it because it's the most natural looking of the 3 prequels.

Dennis Muren?
Time

I know that Phil Tippet also worked with the dinosaurs in JP, I believe the animatronic ones.  JP is, as a whole visually, far more effective and natural looking (to most average film-goers) than the SE was.

The reason I even mentioned this is because I just watched my Superbit version of JP and noticed that Dennis Muren did his work in JP leading up to it's 1993 release.  The full motion creatures, at their basic final design, looked FAR better than Jabba or any other CGI editions from George for the SE.  I mean, it WAS supposed to be an anniversary celebration of a timeless set of classic films.

Info: Alien DC Project ... an UPDATE. (Released)
Time

To ALL interested in this project......

I have come up against some financial road blocks and taking care of my daughter is top on the list.

I still haven't received any responses to requests for assistance with bluray menu's and such so that will slow things down even more.  Doombot and I have to discuss the final specs so we can consider announcing what the final project will be made up of.

Thanks for all the patience and understanding.  And yes, this means The Mummy HD-DVD Hybrid Project is on hold as well, sorry.
