Nice work Jetrell Fo! I thought I read somewhere that it will be re-released with some of the extras removed that so offended Toho. Anyways, the version you clued me in on from TPB is outstanding and is my go-to version.

I'm glad to hear it Lee.  It is great find considering and it at least has the commentary so that's a start.

Thanks guys!

Jetrell Fo gives me an input, and I followed it...

PAL LD - Bicubic Vs NTSC LD - Bicubic:

PAL LD - Bicubic Vs LD MagicSR:
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/125557

NTSC LD - Bicubic Vs LD MagicSR:
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/125558

I can't believe how much MagicSR improves the image quality; even so, it is still inferior to a simple bicubic resize of the GKar (maybe the worst of the 97 DVB recordings):

LD MagicSR Vs GKar Bicubic:
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/125559

I must admit I used two small clips captured few years ago; now, taking several captures from different editions (4x PAL, 2x NTSC) and averaging them to wipe out noise, using a better capture card - if only I'll be able to let it work again... - and a REALLY better NTSC laserdisc player, or, even better, using Happycube method, I think image could be improved a lot - it *could* be really *probable* that result could be even better than DVB...

@nightstalkerpoet:
take a look at the following comparison; if you see aliasing in both, it's due to the enhancing filter, but if you see only (or more) aliasing only in the regraded version, it will be a fault of the regrading filter

DVB MagicSR Vs DVB MagicSR regraded:
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/125561

it's 3:30am here, time to sleee... zzz... (^^,)

LMAO ...... thank you Andrea.  Very kind of you to say.  I just remembered how your initial work looked with the LD stuff.

Having a few captures to work with so that there is more info to make use of is a far better starting place for sure.

I do like the look of the DVB MagicSR screenshot.

Something for Spaced Ranger to work on after the Blu is released, I guess.

I don't know how many people in this thread even get this, but it's the funniest thing anyone has said on ot.com this year.

Mine's INFJ (Introverted iNtuition Feeling Judging).

Have you delved into this before? Do you know your type? Do you think this sort of thing is garbage?

There are many, many free tests on the internet that do well enough for curiosity's sake. Here's one of the better ones.

So you guys that keep saying it is no surprise about the "take my toys and go home" well maybe you guys are not really fans of what we do anyways, just idiots that like to start shit, I have said that when this started it was a great thing, I had almost ALL our BD's out for everyone and now this is gone, yes it is sad that the shit went down the way it did, but I did get almost ALL our stuff out there and was ready to share more.

Also why in the hell would I want anymore of our releases there now when I cannot even be there, someone please tell me that lol, I already said that uTorrent on my Home connection is a no go, and it is no big secret that I hate Usenet, I will figure something out at some point, I did before I will again, so to those that do like what we do and have some patience I thank you very much, as I have said we only have 1 title ready right now and a second to be ready withing a few weeks so no one is really missing out of anything yet.

1 more thing, I do remember who has helped with things in the past so don't worry about that, there was very, very few of you but I remember who you are.

Thanks and Have a Nice Day!

Never doubted you.  I hope all is well otherwise DJ.

If you're gonna go TB route maybe using the Widescreen VHS set as a combiner source would be better?

Just a thought .....

Nope... the VHS, I must admit, is not that bad... to be a tape source; but it's not even near the TB quality; at least, I'd use the laserdisc, but, again, combined together, the TB and GKar are a step ahead any laserdisc capture - until we'll see a software-based capture, and I'm really waiting for it!

Aside from burnt in subs is there any reason to think the Japan LD's might not be a better candidate than say the US or French LD's?  I believe the French set had the best picture quality out of the bunch aside from the PAL aspect which seems fairly easy to adjust for.

There is actually no need for a seedbox.

Once the initial seeding is done, the peers who have downloaded the torrent should be enough keep it alive. It worked that way for Team-Blu's torrents when they were on Myspleen, and there were plenty of seeds for Team Blu's torrents on Blu-Torrents as well.

 Agreed.

As far as I know, the seedbox option isn't going to happen unless someone wants to pay out of their own pocket for such high bandwidth options.

I'm guessing what some are wanting are a quick download without having to torrent through normal channels.

All I can say is good luck with your efforts.  I've downloaded and seeded the stuff I got at the latter place.  It was well worth the wait.

Help Wanted: GODZILLA 1985 - US Theatrical Version Preservation (* unfinished project *)
Time

Today I will be picking up Godzilla 1985 on VHS from a local store.  It looks to be in awesome shape.

I just got done transferring Godzilla Vs. Megalon (Diamond Entertainment 1990 VHS) and Terror of Mechagodzilla (Simitar 1988 VHS) to DVD and I will do the same once I pick up the 1985 VHS.

Audio dubbing is not my forte so when I get it I'll update this post with which VHS version it is.

Cheers!!!!

JEDIT:

Lost out on the 1985 VHS .... the guy actually came last minute and picked it up.  It had been sitting for almost 2 weeks.  Anyways .... on the search for another one.

In all seriousness, I really do hope you find work soon.  It's hard to go without, it's especially hard to get fired.  Keep fighting the good fight.  You'll be able to provide for your family :)

Yeah, it wasn't worded right but I know he understood.  There are just times when people are on the same wavelength ya know.

Thanks too ender, most appreciated.

The Knick Knack Boobs Restoration
Time

My sentiment is this ...... parents are supposed to raise and guide their children, not film makers or any others.  Now, our children do find influences outside the home, which is natural, but as parents it is OUR job to sit with them and explain and/or at least monitor and discuss their reactions to things.  My daughter has NEVER complained or even mentioned the large "brestacles" these knicknacks have.  She LOVES the humor, music, and the story idea of that snowman trying to free himself to hang with what he considers a pretty girl.

Nuff said in my opinion.
