Star Wars 1997 DTS CD-ROMs (Released)

I'm revisiting the master files from my revised synchs from a couple of years ago. I think I've got a nice balance for home systems now. The audio isn't really fit for home systems as-is; crossovers and overall volume reduction are necessary because the audio is too damn loud (clipping in places too!). I'll see about making these available when I've finished the final touches.

You know where to reach me when you're ready.  LOL

Yeah, CEE also sometimes gets better transfers too? I remember that before the Shout Factory release of Battle Beyond the Stars, there was a PAL version floating around on Russian trackers that was a better transfer than the New Concorde DVD (it had the 80s WB logo at the front). Or was that just an existing PAL transfer from Western Europe?

If it was an existing transfer (I don't know the details) it was probably a better transfer from the start.

I understand all of that, it fits with what poita told me, and I am willing to defer to him because I know he knows his shit.

Don't worry, I am not criticizing this transfer. I absolutely think it looks amazing. I also donated to make this scan happen.

What is CEE?

Central Eastern Europe, I believe.  It seems that a fair amount of releases in this area of the world have far better video quality than in other parts.  I have only a few CEE Bluray releases and it does seem to have validity especially if one gets to see a graph on the video attributes by the numbers.

JEDIT: Damn you Doombot, you beat me to it, LMAO!!!

poita is no amateur at film scanning, at least not in the newb sense.  He is well aware of what he's got and what he's doing.

As for taking pictures of film print you have to remember the camera has it's own settings that seem to interact with the colors of the print.

I am downloading a CEE version of JP to compare some of the others to.  It seems like it's the middle of the road from screen shots I've seen when it comes to color timing.

No matter one's personal preferrence what we have been given is astonishing to watch and enjoy.  And that is just how this individual intends on treating it.  I've donated for other scan projects happening down the road and I will treat them the same.  These are things you just can't buy at the store or get on eBay ...... a LOT of care and effort have been put in to make them available to all who may want them and THAT is what's important, at least to me ..... and others I know.

Cheers!!!!

Also, can you by any chance hook me up with the theatrical far field DTSHDMA of JP? I really want to listen to it right now.

I've been unable to locate any copy that has the original DTS Cinema or laserdisc. Andrea;s Jurassic Park [rules 1.0] BD does not get me any usenet or torrent response. Is it still available?

It is on the spleen.  If you are not a member there you need to go post a request for an invite in the proper thread.

Just so ya know, we were asked to release it this way, untouched for the first release (mostly). Doesn't mean we can't bring some color out on the next release. I still like the way the print looks though, Looks more natural to me.

 What Doom said :)

A tiny bit of contrast was added to get some blacks back to black and obviously the cropping but the rest of the picture was left alone. As close to the original scan as possible. Now a version 2 might have some more changes

Fabulous job, both of you and all who participated.

Welp, looks like I'm gonna need an invite too. ;) Always wanted to see this in its proper form.

There is a protocol here for requesting invites and it is not to come in to the project thread to do it.  I've posted the link below.

The reason the protocol is in place is to keep these threads clear of off topic posts.  stretch is helping people out which is great but these members need to be sent to the proper thread for their requests.  The spleen  has seen so many hit n runners that it's not funny and it makes us here look bad for being the ones who just handed out the invites for them to do so.

Please respect the OP's thread and the site by using the link below.

Thank you.

Hey guys!! This is my first time here, I'd really like to watch the despecialized edition of Star Wars by Harmy but I'm having some issues with the MySpleen invitation. Do I need to get an invitation from you guys or what? I'll seed! Please help :(

We hear this all the time.  :(

This is NOT the thread to use for this.  Use Silverwooks link.

Also friendlyskywalker....check your PM (Private Messages)

I am not sure why some members continue to encourage posts that are against the rules like this.  It defeats the purpose of the redirection to the proper thread .... and it was just posted by a mod, Silverwook.

I'm on the fence with the TB due to their DVD5 quality.  It really is a shame too.  Maybe, if you had the 5 Star Collection of the SE it would help.  At least maybe a combination of the two could end up sourcing a better overall picture making it easier to work with.

http://www.prillaman.net/starwarsdvdreview-bootleg2.html

Everytime they're on eBay, they get pricey. Weren't their torrents of the DVDs on the spleen?

For the LD, althor has that covered, as he has much better equipment and resources. The TB set isn't great, but when downscaled and with a grain plate, could look okay, minus the VHS quality ROTJ.

I own the DVD set.  Would it be of some use?

Most certainly. Could use it as a reference and might be able to make them

a bit more presentable.

As far as I know, they were sourced from the LD's.  Could probably check the spleen and see if they're still up there.  I also capped my 2 VHS sets of the SE.

I have the VCD set as well for these.

War games
