If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place
Time

JEDIT:

I had recently considered leaving the site either by parking my account or asking to be banned, to make it happen. Although I know I can be quite rough sometimes, we have folks that like to provoke no matter what the perceived cost, and take it where ever they like. To me that is unacceptable no matter which section we’re in but I finally thought I’d had enough.

Recent responses in some threads have changed my mind with regards to leaving. I am not just someone posting in a thread. I have had a hand in some great projects here and I’ve given support to others so that they may be seen. I don’t ask for thanks because I offer my support and share what I have freely. The only thing I want is what most every other member here wants … a little basic respect.

We’re ALL human, we ALL would like to be heard without having stones thrown at us, and I believe we ALL are genuinely passionate about our beliefs while being passionate about not purposely treading on the beliefs of others. I have had to take a step back and look at my posted words and others to see that we ALL have room for change in this department. Maybe, we can actually affect some positive change by doing this every so often, so that we ALL may enjoy the benefits.

Cheers!!!

😃

As Mr. Adams has unfortunately been dead for 15 years, that might be a problem. 😉

I figured I’ve been a little harsh on Frink so I gave this thread a re-read. It reminded me of the character Marvin from HGTTG. I didn’t realize Mr. Adams was dead. It’s been ages since I read that book.

I’m sorry the compliment was not appreciated.

I have to make the decision to go on a Mormon mission or not at the end of high school. Not fun

Do it, darth. Is it hard? Of course. Was it worth it? More than you’ll ever know… Unless you go. I’m so grateful I did.

Sorry but I don’t believe in any of it at all. I find many of our beliefs sexist and inherently wrong. I have now become agnostic. The stress of the decision to go on a mission is entirely because of the emotional pain and humiliation I will go through my community and my family. My father has been a bishop and just got called as Stake President. It’s not the inner turmoil of whether it’s true, it’s the inner turmoil of what consequences I want. I’m extremely jealous of those born into good hearted agnostic homes with a supportive family who won’t force you to believe something that they think is crucial to if you can live with them forever again.

I’d urge you not to do it. Don’t sell out your principals.

That’s what keeps me leaning towards that decision. In the end I have to take a stand for what I believe and if that means them hating me and seeing me as a dissapointment then I’ll have to deal with that pain. Thanks for the kind words everyone.

My parents exposed me to religion but they did not impose it on me. I am agnostic and I’m okay with it as are they. The only person that can tell you what is right for you, is you, and in making that choice you are showing your responsibility to care for yourself. I know I don’t know you personally but I understand what you’ve said about how you feel. The only advice I can offer is to never stop loving your family even if you feel they don’t love you. THAT is what makes the difference.

Weather or not you wanna take the approval of a heathen is your call.

Ray, I am sorry to hear you are down. I have had my fair share of challenges and those emotions can work their way into everything you do. I am actually working on bettering myself by relearning how to recognize and redirect when I notice things coming on.

I liked the joke, I am glad I understood it the way it was meant, because it didn’t seem like it was intended any other way.

Here’s to hoping you feel better.

I recorded all the first broadcast with Shatner in SP on high quality VHS tapes. I have a lot of the Nimoy segments, but it was hard to catch them so most are copied (still in SP but 2nd gen) to the end of the Shatner broadcast version. I don’t have a working VCR, so if anyone wants the tapes…

I live in the states, Wisconsin to be exact, would it be a hassle for us to get them here? I could start at least transferring them to an HD or straight to my DVDrecorder. I don’t have the knowledge and/or experience for any clean-up that might be needed though.

Given your disdain for Toy Story 2, I think any reasonable person would assume you were serious in your rankings there.

I don’t have any disdain for Toy Story 2. I just don’t like it.

Disclaimer:

This post is not intended nor designed in any way to make anyone believe it was a serious thank you. I believe that the clarification was wholly unnecessary. With that said, this post is also not designed as a show of support for the corruption of the filmmakers behind Toy Story 2. I believe a separate post would be more appropriate to keep the filmmakers focused on themselves as only they are responsible for their own movies, good or bad.

Dude, this rip on me isn’t even funny. Get your own shtick would you?

Since the debate last week my e-mail has been flooded with donation requests from the DNC. WTF? If they are so far ahead of the game why are they asking me for money from like a dozen different places? I’m tempted to tag it as spam and be done with it. Hell, the RNC didn’t hammer me this badly the entire election, what the hell is going on with the Democrats?

Are their SuperPACs broke already?

What, Garrett got banned for selling his work!? That’s not the Garrett I know. I mean I know he got on Margaret French’s bad side, but… this?!

I believe Rikter got banned for the same thing.  It kinda sucks when people with great ideas and a helpful mentality go to the dark side.

I believe your information is incorrect.

Maybe it is. All I know for sure was the he was selling Star Wars bootlegs.

He was selling a lot more then just Star Wars DVD’s, I know I was stupid enough to get caught up in it when I first joined this site, but I learned really fast on how to do these things myself so I did not have to buy shit again, so he obviously is not banned, but he did do exactly the same thing OCP did, so figure that out, I certainly can’t.

I see I was wrong about him being banned. Weird considering he was selling Star Wars bootlegs. I remember reporting it to someone here when I found the site. Now I know he did help with the “A Spark of Hope for Laserman” project so maybe that got him some saving grace, I’m not in the know, so I would not pretend to know or even care anymore at this point. Weird things happen here all the time.

There are some great Star Trek shares going up on the spleen right now with stuff that isn’t your normal VHS released documentary share.

Are you talking about the “50 Iconic years” discs or are you preparing something else?
Also do I read it correctly that you’re working on the special editions?

I was referring to the “50 Iconic Years” discs. I am not working on the project this thread is about. The OP is not ready to share his resources and I respect his wishes.

Why do a composite of LD and 2 tape VHS? The LD is the uncut version (192 min). No need to compose it with VHS.

It was merely a suggestion, not a direction.

The VHS is uncut as far as I can tell too. At least the 2 tape version.

There’s literally no need to do that though since the Laserdisc is uncut. Ideally, editing the cut footage from LD into the Bluray transfer would be best.

I thought there was no need for a composite yet here we are discussing a different option for a composite. I’ll never understand why people want to dismiss suggestions so easily but it’s all good, as long as the project is done in a way that everyone enjoys, that is what counts.

It’s been quiet here for some time, so I’ll return to my original question - is there any chance you would digitize your Sci-fi channel SEs ? 😃

Hi. Yes, I plan on doing it when I can. I saw a few minutes of the recordings and they look pretty good. It’s just finding the time to do them. I’ve also been going through my paper archives and have come across things I forgot I saved through the years from different genre sources, so I’m pleased to still have them. Thanks for the continued interest!

ST2112, you have all the episodes? Willing to lend the tapes?

Can someone step up to do HQ caps now? Thanks

Hi. I will have to check my tapes to be sure of exactly which ones I have. A couple of my notes were not clear. I don’t think I have all of the Nimoy segments, but should have most, if not all, of the Shatner ones. I will try to confirm this for you as soon as I can. Yes, I am willing to share them. I have, however, been disappointed with a couple of members I have corresponded with privately through the Original Trilogy forum when I did not receive a reply to a query on getting info and help on sharing something with me. I completed several Star Wars transfers for them, but since they have not responded to my questions in over two months, and haven’t even asked about the transfers, I am a little leery about my decision to share things with them and have full faith in their integrity. I have been in ill health this summer and just don’t have the time or inclination to deal with anyone that isn’t responsive and may be unwilling to reciprocate in the sharing of material. Thanks.

Hope you feel better soon.

I’m sure some you won’t have these issues with some of the more prominent members here. I would like to see some discussion on possible transfer plans. Who has the equipment and who has the time? What is the best kind of transfer? I would like a HQ (DVD-R) transfer with CC retained.

Thank you as well. The many kind responses I have gotten have renewed my confidence and interest in working with this group. I only wish my health issues weren’t such an impediment to everything I want to accomplish this year. I saved all this material for decades hoping they could be shared and enjoyed by others and then a health crisis occurs. The best laid plans… 😃

The folks here are good. Any volunteers?

If I understand the OP correctly, he is not ready to share his stuff due to past issues … and I don’t believe he’s stated he’s ready just yet, at least until his health is better which is totaly understandable.

There was a full frame version released on Laserdisc.
http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/24026/LV32301/Star-Trek-VI:-The-Undiscovered-Country

TUC was among the very few Paramount films released on Super VHS in the early 90’s, but the packaging is almost impossible to tell apart from the regular VHS version save for the format logo on the box.

Oh wow, good find.

Hope someone can preserve this.

You could always purchase the Fullscreen VHS. It goes fairly cheap on eBay.
