I honestly came here for the preservation and fan-edit side, not to circle jerk about the Original Trilogy. I’m not going to deny that the OT are superior to the PT in a common sense, but damn, those films are necessary IMHO to tell the complete story; the 6 part tragedy and redemption of Anakin Skywalker. Even if the OT wasn’t marketed to be apart if that story from the beginning, it’s how I view them.

Here is my completely unnecessary breakdown of the Star Wars films:

The PT is about how society and institutions can corrupt and influence the individual

The OT is about how an individual can redeem and influence the individual

The George Lucas ST was going to be about how the soul controls and influences the individual

I would love to see what George had (or has, someone please make George Lucas’s ST with the remaining OT cast) planned for the ST, yes Midichlorians and all.

It’s the film I always go back and watch, the music, the visuals, the fight scenes, the worldbuilding, the lore, anything with Qui-Gon Ginn. I have trouble watching every Star Wars film in one sitting except The Phantom Menace, I would be lying if I said I didn’t like the film more than the OT.

Attack of the Clone is a blast too, although that’s because it’s fucking hilarious. I was with a friend and it was his first time watching AOTC, we laughed so hard I’d thought we’d bust a gut. I just can’t take that film seriously, but what it sets up lore wise is amazing.

The Clone Wars back in 2008. Geez, that show has been replaying inside my head everyday for over 10 years I kid you not. Dragon Ball Z Kai on CW4Kids back in 2010. I remember being shaken to the core after watching Genisis of the Daleks and The Caves of Androzani back in 2013.

Harmy understands this, the 20th Century Fox logo is present on all Despecialized Editions.

John Williams TPM score is so wonderful (even putting aside Duel of the Fates, which I’m a bit sick of) and insanely detailed (for lack of a better musical term) while AOTC doesn’t seem to have nearly the same effort put into it.

The guy might have just used most of his imagination on TPM.

Has anyone tried using ESRGAN to upscale cartoons? It might produce promising results.

And I don’t understand why someone would post in a thread about something that doesn’t interest them just to insult the people that are interested in it.

If an edit or project doesn’t interest you, then it is probably worthwhile ignoring the thread or refrain from posting in it - and finding one of the many projects on here that may interest you.
 

BR could be used as a source except for the altered rooftops on Kashyyyk, and the audio in the Utapau clone arrival scene.

I guess a despecialized version wouldn’t be too difficult to put together. Hahaha, maybe Harmy will have a go at the Prequels if he ever finishes 3.0

I don’t understand why anyone would want to listen to the entire soundtrack considering every worthwhile cue is on the official release. Mediocre score for a terrible movie.

I also think there are differences in the crawl timing. Not to mention that the Blu Ray is a higher quality source than the HDTV rip.

My external hard drive recently gave up the ghost and took all my “in progress” projects and completed project files with it. Unfortunately I just don’t have the heart to redo the work I lost, especially as life has got a bit busy recently with a job change, house move and deciding to do a half iron man.

That truly is a shame…
