Waiting for Episode VII during the lean years (1984-1998)
Time
WEll let's see. Star Wars was nominated for a bunch of Oscars including best picture (a RARITY for scifi/adventure films), best director, best supporting actor (Alec Guiness) and best screenplay.

Meanwhile, Empire got a rave review from the Washington Post's Gary Arnold and the almost impossible to please Pauline Kael. And in the years since Empire came out, it only became more and more critically acclaimed. I don't see that happening with Phantom Menace which came over over 7 years ago.

George could learn from the staff from 24
Time
George could learn a lot from the producers, directors and writers of the show.

-They admit that they don't have an "original vision" for the entire season and major plot twists are often late season decisions. For example: the Nina Meyers being a mole plot twist was not originally intended, nor was President Logan being in with the baddies.
-They LOVE getting suggestions from fans for plot ideas and read the official message boards. Some of them even post there.
-They have a fan phone on the set where fans can call in and talk to some of the actors! It originated in season 4 when fans noticed a phone number of a character's cell phone, dialed it and got through to the set!
-They haven't gone back and changed the scene where Jack killed Nina Meyers by letting her shoot first while lying wounded on the ground!
-They don't have a bunch of yes men telling them they can do no wrong.

Star Wars: 30th Anniversary (2007 - New Box-set)

Yeah, looks like I'll be getting them too now. I keep changing my mind, it's getting a little crazy in here. I think Lucas is more like Jabba the Hutt in appearance and attitude. Has a whole bunch of yes men around to do his bidding while he sits on his ass and calls the shots. As to more changes to the saga set, I'm not surprised. I'm starting to think the only reason DVD's of the OT were released is to help pay for the studio move.

LOL! George has been looking more sluglike lately

POLL: WORST ACTOR OR ACTRESS IN THE PT?
Time
This is a very interesting topic. A lot of times I hear people saying Suzie Q can't act to save herself or Joe Schmoe is the worst actor ever, and I always respond with: well some director or producer actually chose that person, so it's their responsibility. That's why I picked Lucas. He looked at thousands of actors for every role and chose who he wanted to work with. He stood on set with them and gave them feedback on how to play the scene. Basically, a great director would not put up with the level of performances Lucas got from his actors.

Actors get fired from film and television all the time if the directors and producers are not satisfied. Eric Stoltz was fired during filming of Back to the Future because he was too intense for comedy. Roseanne's Laurie Metcalf, a 3-time Emmy winner was supposed to be on 24 last season, but they realized she wasn't right for the role. A few of the Home Improvement characters were recast, and two years ago, Days of Our Lives cast an actress so bad that she was off the show after just two weeks.

Finally Hocked the SE
Time
I have to admit that I only watched the SE/2004 DVD versions of Star Wars from 1997-2004. The reason was I absolutely abhor full screen films and with so much of the picture missing I wouldn't really be seeing the theatrical versions. Now I have a set of the OOT on DVD and it's great. But the picture on the 2004 is so much better. Actually, the last time I watched Empire, I watched the 2004 version, but then switched back and forth between the original version and the 2004 dvd (for the scenes that were not changed.)
