Apocalypse Now - 4/5

Really good atmosphere with the orange and green color scheme. The movie’s rife with symbolism, and lends itself to being picked apart and analyzed. I really enjoyed Laurence Fishburne as Clean, I didn’t even realize it was him until the credits. I actually liked Clean as a character a lot more than Willard. Martin Sheen’s performance as Willard was kinda lackluster and bland, but not necessarily bad. Brando as Kurtz was absolutely menacing, and the cinematography with him was absolutely brilliant, and really accentuated his menacing demeanor.

Oooooh…I get it. It’s the atheist version of that “Hate the sin, love the sinner” thing. Caughtcha! How progressive!

The difference is that “Love the sinner, hate the sin” is usually referring to homosexuality. In that case, the ‘sin’ is a part of who they are, and something they can’t change. Religion is a belief, that can indeed be changed.

“Your sexuality is inherently sinful and wrong, but it doesn’t change my opinion of you as a person.”

vs

“I hate Christianity, but it doesn’t change my opinion of you as a person.”

Here you justify the difference between hating a religion vs hating homosexuality if one is okay and one is not. Both are bigotry.

Y’know, I debated whether I wanted to use the word hate there, but I went for it since it was an attempt to justify the people who said they did. That’s not my view though, I don’t hate Christianity, I don’t hate anything. There are negative aspects of Christianity, just like there are negative aspects of ‘black culture’. There are negative aspects of probably everything. Breadsticks, they’ve got a lot of carbs, but I don’t hate breadsticks.

How is that anti-religion or bigoted at all?

Not to make any assumptions about you personally, but I have a feeling that if this were to happen and men were to win, some of the people who are calling for mixed gender sports now, would change their tune and insist that it wasn’t a fair match.

We need to do such a thing multiple times to get an adequately statistically significant (Yes I know I’m not using the term correctly) pool of data.

That’s true, for sure.

Though Frink is being sarcastic, I think there are some sports that they would get decimated in. Like in football (American football, not that stupid eurotrash football), for example. It may be condescending, but men are just physically stronger than women, it’s a fact.

And about tennis, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outlier

That being said, it would be interesting to see it actually tested out in mainstream sports, with everyone trying their absolute best and not holding back.

Edit: Christ those pictures are bigger than I thought they would be.

Perfect encapsulation of Frinkydink’s grandiose hypocrisy.
If ANYONE else had said this about ANYONE else, he would’ve pitched an absolute histrionic hissy-fit, with expletives flowing like blood from a dilation-and-curettage, because it violates one of his solipsistic taboos.
In fact, this comment is meant as his parry on my critique of his hysterical chastisement of another commenter just for using the word “abortion” in an entirely dry, inoffensive manner.
Yet he thinks nothing of using it as a direct attack, unadorned by artful phrasing or comedic couching.
Frink on, you cray-cray cubic zirconium.

I don’t want to jump on the Frink hate train, but I kind of agree with you here. I can definitely see him getting upset if this was said to him, or even to someone else. I wouldn’t blame him for getting upset, but it does seem a little hypocritical.

Hate trains seem sorta common here.

Edit: Looking at the context of what Frink said, I’m not sure it was unwarranted.

So it’s “love the sinner, hate the sin,” which has been identified as hypocritical and bigoted on this forum.

Considering the source is a group that has a tradition going back centuries of punishing the sinners with torture and death when the founding principle is being without sin before casting a stone and removing the plank from your own eye, it’s sort of odd to be used as retort against people who like some of the individuals who might say it but dislike aspects of the organisation that prompts them to.

Honestly just ditch the torture porn in your holy books denounce the torture, past, present and future and get on with being happy on Sunday or whatever day is special to you.

The group you describe is the perfect opposite of Christianity. The scriptures warned that they would co-opt, and the Luciferian Mystery Babylonian priests

You lost me there.
