STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread

Same, looks like they’re taking a more dark route, which I’m all for. Ezra didn’t even hesitate to shoot that stormtrooper. I also like his redesign, my friend used to call him ‘anime hair guy’. I’m just excited because that article was right about the Luke/Obi-Wan styled lightsaber and the shorter hair, so Thrawn is pretty likely.

After thinking it over, I don’t think you you saying

Nothing to argue? More likely you’re too lazy or stupid to formulate a coherent argument.

is an ad-hominem. Nor is Haseo saying

There’s nothing to really argue. You’re throwing out baseless claims because you’re overly sensitive about your religion.

An ad-hominem, in my mind, is saying someone’s wrong because unrelated insult. If Haseo had said

There’s nothing to really argue. You’re wrong, and god isn’t real, because you’re fat and stupid.

That would be an ad-hominem.

What Haseo said is just an observation, whether it’s true or false.

Insults aren’t ad-hominem.

I don’t think it’s wise to resort to ad-hom and insults.

I am not using it to make my point about religion. I’m using it to point out that he has not yet responded to any of my points and acts as if he’s so right that it’s beyond debate.

That could have been said without the insults is all I’m saying.

Eh. The more I think about it, the less I remember braces.

It’s not like they disappeared or something. Mandela Effect people are really, really weird.

The Mandela Effect presumes that people always remember things 100% accurately. But they don’t, people misremember things, or don’t notice things all the time. You’re transcribing information into meat, essentially, it’s a very malleable process, and things get messed up. With the Bernst(e)[a]in bears thing, I do remember it as stein, but that’s probably because stein is a very common suffix in surnames, I didn’t read the title closely, and the font is strange. Alternate universes aren’t needed to explain stuff like that. That said, I still think the phenomenon is very interesting.

Edit: Just watched the video, that is pretty strange, but it’s not proof of an alternate universe.

That does give me an idea - What if someone re-scored the OT to incorporate PT themes that didn’t exist at the time like Across the Stars for Han and Leia scenes, Duel of the Fates for the final battle in ROTJ, Battle of the Heroes for the Obi-Wan/Vader duel, etc.? Too crazy?

I added Anakin’s Dark Deeds to the Vader vs Luke fight in ROTJ, gimme a minute to render it.

Yup here it is. It’s not particularly good, but I figured I was gonna be the only person who sees it. I’m not even sure if the song fits, but I like it too much to use a different one.

I don’t think that Battle of the Heroes would work for the Obi-Wan Vader duel in A New Hope. It’s just an old guy and a slightly younger guy in a suit hitting each other with laser sword — it’s not very dramatic, as say the duel in ROTS. Plus, Battle of the Heroes is a pretty weak theme anyway.

From Adywan’s fan edit

I think it works alright, not great, but I think it livens up the fight for sure.

Jeebus…is that some Christian shit?

I would interpret that as asking if my name has something to do with Christianity, or is a reference to Chrstianity. And I would reply “no, it’s in part a Simpsons reference, and also an inside joke I had with my friends.”

Is the issue with the word shit? Because I could’ve used stuff, if you prefer.

If you just stepped in dog poo, you wouldn’t say:

I stepped in some dog facile matter.

You might say:

I stepped in some dog shit.

Some contexts are different than others. Saying ‘shit’ in front of a religion name is incredibly offensive. So, yes, I would prefer that you say ‘stuff.’

Okay, so the issue was with ‘shit’.

I didn’t mean it that way, I guess I’m just very loose with my swear words.
