Why didn’t GL change Obi-Wan’s line…
“You can’t win, Darth…” to “You can’t win, Vader…” ?
Why would he?
When Lucas wrote that line, Darth was his name. It made sense to call him Darth. But somewhere along the line, Darth became a title. Vader was his identifier, Darth was just a prefix.
So? No one’s ever referred to someone by just a title before? You’re telling me we don’t hear people refer to others in SW as just “general” or “captain” or “count” or “master” or “princess”?
I don’t think referring to him by a title makes sense in this context, since it’s supposed to be a very personal moment for the two of them.
