//RETURNING TO JEDI\\: NTSC & PAL DVD
Time

Now that I have the full DVD, I can give an assessment.  I was having concerns when there was talk about frames being dumped, etc.  And now those concerns are reality.  As a result, the picture jogs throughout.  And, the playback speed is still fast.  It seems that some spots don't have it as bad, but it is still there.  It's interesting to see the Miami additions, but I had to turn it off because the jogs were effecting my eyes.

Thanks anyway, zeppelinrox.  I really appreciate the effort, but some things just aren't meant to be.  Especially when dealing with a DVD made from so many different sources.

Star Wars Prequels/Original Trilogy: The Complete Scores (Released)
Time

I have TPM on vinyl, but it is only a double picture disc of the single CD version.

I too am looking for complete scores for AOTC and ROTS, but so far no results.  I think GoodMusician has them, but hasn't had the time to upload just yet, which I completely understand.

I came across yet another eBay auction for a 3-disc set of ROTS.  He/she is based in Italy.

Here's the pic from the auction:

Of course, I would much rather get them from folks here.  :)

Nope, unfortunately not.  The ROTJ LP suffered from the new incoming Compact Disc craze, so, like many other scores of the time, was relegated to a single LP instead of the 2-record sets we got from the other films.  There's only so much real estate on a record, so roughly an hour is all we got in the format.  I think the LP is a little heavy on Ewok themes, and the non-movie version of Lapti Nek was a waste of space as well.  The ROTJ sessions offered much better choices for the LP in my opinion, but whattaya gonna do.  It's all in the can, as they say.

Okay, look guys, I screwed up in my post.  I didn't mean that I was going to be toying with the range.  I record a whole side of a record at a time, then draw the resulting file out and look at all the loud parts for that side.  When I find the loudest spot on the record, I adjust the overall volume for that entire record based on that one spot.  I do not bring any other parts up, nor adjust anything else down, because I know the peaks will not get higher than that one spot.  If it happens in more than one place, then I play back every second of every loud spot and adjust ONLY ONCE to the absolute loudest part.  This maintains the integrity.

Did they ever go off track, it was a little over 24 hours.  Most projects go weeks without updates.

I disagree with leveling each track individually.  It doesn't make sense to have the love theme at air plane level decibels just so someone doesn't need to adjust the volume when transitioning from the Imperial March.  The recording industry has done just this to everything of late, i would guess to suit the earphone generation who buys singles.  But this was not the goal of this original recording, it was meant to be played in a 'semi' quiet theater as an overall piece of music.

Yes, things were a bit off track as of last night due to medical stuff which I thought was going to take longer, hence the speedy update.

Let me rephrase about the audio levels.  What I really meant to say was that if the track has very loud peaks that aren't the same as the tracks that precede it, it will be adjusted down.  For example, "Into The Trap" has fantastic peaks that are generally the same as "Main Title" so they are left alone.  Then, "Luke and Leia" is very quiet for most of the piece, but I do NOT adjust it UP.  The ONLY adjusting that occurs is DOWN if a brass flourish or something suddenly goes off the chart.

That is what I meant.  Sorry for the confusion.  Believe me, I don't like the dynamics being screwed with like what is done for CD's these days, either.

Okay, things are back on track.

I should have the ROTJ package done tonight or tomorrow.  I have decided to adjust the dB levels on each track individually, so when played, the peaks will be more the same across the board and the listener won't have to keep adjusting their volume.  I think it's the better way to go.  It takes more time, but with the dynamics of the vinyl, it is worth it.

I think I will make the vinyl stuff all available as WAV, and the CD will be a straight FLAC rip with no adjustments.

3D STAR WARS for the masses...has ARRIVED!
Time

Absolutely terrible. The PT ruined everything once, now anyone that is a glutton for punishment gets to see them altered AGAIN to this 3D fad crap.

The article stated the rest of the films will come out one each year "depending on how well TPM does."

Ummmm.... Who the FRAK wants to pay Lucas AGAIN to sit through TPM, even if it's 3D?

Nancy Reagan was right. JUST SAY NO.

**EDIT**

I think I found a way to keep them 24 bit.  The problem was in the FLAC department, so I will be releasing everything in WAV.  Larger files, but I think worth it in the end.

Here is the 3rd sample, which is a 24 bit WAV of the final product.  Unless there's a technical issue or something, I will be going ahead.

Sample link removed to conserve Webspace.

Good deal.  :)

Work is progressing nicely.  My dual processors are going into overdrive now.  I can definitely say that anyone who downloaded my first attempt (Lapti Nek and SW Radio Spots) can scrap them when I get the new versions finished.

The first package will contain:

Lapti Nek Club Mix and Dub Mix RSO vinyl 12"

Return of the Jedi RSO vinyl LP

The Story of Return of the Jedi vinyl LP

Return of the Jedi RSO/Polydor CD

I'm going to put one more sample up soon, before I start making the package available.  I would appreciate any feedback on it.
