Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist
Time

"At a time, I considered sparing your wretched little planet Alderaan. But now, you will witness it's DISMEMBERMENT!"

Sorry, had to do it.

Okay, back to TESB and ROTJ wishes....

I hate to flog this horse yet again, but I bought the new Hasbro AT-AT today. It is HUGE and very well made. It has a red front viewport, and one of the phrases the AT-AT commander says is "Forward deflectors at full power."

I know it's just a toy, but there you have it.

Then again, here's the StarWars.com description from the Databank:

The All Terrain Armored Transport, or AT-AT walker, is a four-legged transport and combat vehicle used by the Imperial ground forces. Standing a towering 15 meters tall, these walkers are intimidating, and are used as much for psychological effect as they are for tactical effect.

An AT-AT has blast-impervious armor plating, and resembles a gigantic beast as it moves across the battlefield. An AT-AT's head carries the main armaments, a pair of light blasters located on the walker's "temples," and heavier, twin laser cannons mounted on the walker's "chin."

The command crew pilots the AT-AT from the walker's head, which is connected to the main body by a flexible neck. The crew consists of a commander, a gunner, and a pilot. Additional crews and troops can be carried in the walker's main storage bay.

Looks like this is a case of "choose your canon."

THE STAR WARS SAGA - 1080P AVCHD DVD-9 for PS3 & Blu-Ray players - Episodes 1, 4 & 5 available now

That seems a little strange to me, as unless your Blu-ray player can play mkv files, you will probably have to transcode the MKV to make it Blu-ray compliant, resulting in a small quality loss.

Really? I thought the quality would be equal, or at least negligibly lower. Hmmmm....

I think I'll just settle for what I already have. If I knew what I was doing, I'd paint out those white lines and add a couple seconds of black screen to the beginning myself. :)

If you have a media player, you could download the big MKV. The glitches might be a result of burning or the media you used I suppose. Do you verify your discs before burning? It is always a good idea. I suppose you could try again with different media, but whether it will help or not I do not know, because I have never heard of this problem with the AVCHD of ESB.

I do have a media player, but for the MKV I would rather burn it to Blu-ray. I have BD-R discs already and am waiting on my Blu-ray burner to arrive. I have NO idea how to do it or what software is required (the burner will come with NONE), but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. If the MKV will mean that at least one of the glitches will be gone, then I am all for it and eagerly await the links! :)

I always verify my discs, and like I said, my numerous burns with the same media yield perfect results (DL DVD's and such). Sounds like I'll just have to live with the glitches, at least until I am able to burn Blu-ray.

Thanks very much, Chewtobacca. :)

It worked like a charm and the ANH AVCHD by Adywan is now flawless. WOW!

I suppose I can live with the glitches on TESB, but the editor/perfectionist in me hopes for a fix at some point. The best film deserves the best playback, IMO.

Many, many thanks to all you fine gents that helped me through this (new to me) process of making AVCHD's. Perhaps I should make my new improved ones available to others via torrent if they're interested? Or maybe that's a no-no for these?

Shit. Why me? I have burned three DL coasters now of Ady's ANH AVCHD. The beginning skips and doesn't recover until the title crawl is already underway.

TESB came out just fine, aside from a little nip off of the beginning of the Fox Fanfare and a series of small white lines appear at the bottom of the screen just after the Star Wars logo and before the title crawl. I'm guessing it's because the title crawl was from a different source.

Is there some kind of frame rate problem going on here or what?

Very frustrating....

Harmy's STAR WARS TRILOGY "Partly Despecialized Edition" HD. !!! These version are now obsolete - Look for Despecialized Editions instead!!!

I have already deleted the files. Besides, that would take yet another DL disc.

*EDIT*

I went ahead and went through all the steps and removed the loud English track 2. The PQ is too good to trash the whole project altogether. :)

Well, sorry, but I'm just not comfortable with keeping anything that can harm my equipment. The loud, distorted audio alone makes it a non-keeper, but may hang on to the disc until Ady's or a fix is done. I don't have the knowhow and I'm not going to keep trying and burning coasters. DL's are a bit too pricey for that.

On a positive note though, the first audio track, while too low, is good once I practically max out my volume, and the picture quality is excellent.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

You're correct. I forget who, but someone has made this available that is a member here and I have it stashed on my backup drive for anyone that needs it. I can't remember who it was, but it's a good transfer.

*EDIT*

I just checked and the files are mp3 only, so if you could transfer the video with higher quality audio, go for it!

I grabbed the ROTJ AVCHD. I applied the audio fix and burned to a DL DVD. The picture is bright, detailed, and crisp. TOP NOTCH in my book, Harmy!

However, the audio was a problem. Track 1 was really quiet, while Track 2 nearly blew my speakers, scared the hell outta me, and was distorted. I got a giggle out of the Czech audio track, which sounded nice and clear.
