Batman Begins
Time
Just saw it last night. Excellent film. Very true to the comic, with some minor nit-picks. Bale was perfect, the cosume/makeup was dead on, the voice was perfect, the cast was perfect...especially Liam Neeson. The effects were good without being too overpowering. The thing with the jumpy camera was a tad over-used. HOWEVER, and many people seem to be saying this...Katie Holmes. Nice eye candy, totally useless. I don't necessarily want her fighting criminals, but give her some more to do for God's sake. Also, I laughed out loud when...

****minor spoilers****

...they were pulling back the bridges and the cop stops her and she says "I'm a District Attorney", and the cop is like "Oh, ok" and lets her in. I guess the office of DA is enough to get you access to a cataclysmic event.

Also, the scene at Wayne manor when Ras has Bruce where he wants him, then we get the obligatory "But to show you just how evil I really am, and that you pose no threat to me, I'm going to leave you alive" bad guy mistake.

Going to see it again next week. Hopefully there'll be a sequel on the way, followed by Bats vs Supes.

I hear you. Going through something similar since last night. It's amazing how they can say something like "The sky is pink", and it's not true. But, that doesn't matter. It makes sense TO THEM. Huuuuuhhhhh...don't get me going. My friend and I have a philosophy about women...you just can't win.

do not insult the Eagles again!

Too bad T.O. was out for so long in the post season. I still think his injury affected his play.

I think the Eagles are a good team, as evidenced by their post-season presence the past few years. However, as has been said about many teams/players, until they win the big one it don't matter. I'm a HUGE Peyton Manning fan, but he needs to move to the next level or he'll wind up this generation's Dan Marino.

Did you see late in the season when someone in the stands had a sign that said "T.O. Has B.O." ? I thought that was hilarious. He saw it and tore it down.

This movie came out many moons ago when Frank Oz was at the height of his powers. I've never seen it, and am debating getting the DVD. Can any of you give a brief synopsis, and if you feel it's worth getting? The reviews on Amazon are good, however I tend not to trust those.

Yes. Actually, as I remember it, Land of the Lost was part of a full hour called the Sid & Marty Kroft hour that featured many kids shows that they created. Some of the others included Sigmund the Sea Monster, Witchi-poo, a cheap Gilligan's Island in space type deal with the actors who played Gilligan and Skipper, then one more called the Bug-a-Boos (may be wrong about that one being a S&M K creation). IMO Land of the Lost was the best of them by far.

Earliest TV or Movie Memories
Time
E.T.

Saw it in a one screen theater in our town that's been gone for about 25 years. I remember CRYING my eyes out when it all came crashing down, and even worse when he went home.

Then I'd have to say Raiders with my dad. Saw it 9 times on screen. He still talks about how excited I was. It's one of his favorite memories. Then it was my brother getting me out of school early with some kind of bogus excuse to go see the latest Trek movie. I remember getting called out of class and being told I had a dentist appointment, and I was like "huh?", then when I got out my brother took me to see The Search for Spock.

OK...I'm officially quite sad and nostalgic now...thx Bossk. :-)

They do deserve it, and they deserve MUCH more, I was just saying that the whole meaning behind these days were bought off and commercialized by corporations.

For that I apologise. I tend to express my insane political views in the most inapropriated moments. Sorry.

No, actually, I apologize. I did not mean to single you out. I kind of meant it about the post in general.

Did you know that the guy who did Ross/Barth/El Capitain was damn near 60 when that show was on?

Also, there was recently a convention, I believe.

I remember when Nick first came on I was in awe of it. Danger Mouse, YCDTOTV....ahhhh, good times man. The sad part is, I was almost 13 at the time, which at that time was still "a kid" whereas today's 13 year olds are punks (most of them...no offense to anyone here who's obviously demonstrated their intelligence by being an OT fan!) who want to be "pimps and ho's". Makes me sick.

Anyone see the History Channel special called Comic Book Heros Unmasked? Two hours on the history of the medium. Great stuff, to be sure.

Also, speaking as someone who's only recently returned to collecting in the last few years: There are so many cross-overs/events that keeping up is almost impossible, however I can't stop! It's like smoking crack or something.

Put up ads, do what you gotta do, but don't stray too far from the original purpose. Just my 2 cents, it's your site.

Have you noticed the Google ads? Or are you running a filter? They've been up for a few weeks.

To which I replied 'Well, I think you are thinking of Italy, but either way, I'm from England'. The guy just couldn't understand that Europe is made up of loads of vastly different countries and isn't just one big mass of land called 'Europe'. The final straw was when he replied 'well, Englad, France, whatever, it's all the same'. I wanted to hit his ignorant ass. That's like saying 'Canada, USA, whatever'. I was also told I spoke good English for a foreigner.
Of course, I know none of you guys are that ignorant, but the point is England may be close, but 25 miles of water is enough to seperate us from Europe not only by distance but also by attitude, opinion and culture.
So, in order to keep on topic: Things I hate: Ignorance, People who lump England and France together, and North Dakota.

It's kind of like when people lump all southerners into the low IQ group. Or when all conservatives are likened to facists. I hate generalization.

The same people that would probably hate Casablanca or The Big Sleep because "Aw, I don't like black and white movies."

I hate those kind of people, that don't give a movie a chance because its black and white and have never seen classic films but will flock to crap like Titanic and say "Oh, its among the hollywood classics."

So true! I had the original Twelve Angry Men on last night, and when my wife saw it she just kind of rolled her eyes. Then when I gave her the remote she turned on the latest reality show. It's like...Get a clue!!

For that matter, you could store your DVD copies of the PT next to the SW Laserdiscs- if anything 'sucks' its those films!

LOL!!
