Anyway, go Titans.

That team always seems to do well. Jeff Fischer is a good coach. He'd move into the "great" category if he could win the bowl, though.

The GI Joe comic series from Marvel was, IMHO, superior to the show in many ways and I followed it for quite some time after I stopped watching the show. Anyone else read the comic?

I've looked for the GI Joe comics but can never find them. I've talked to a few people who have read them, and they make me feel like I'm some kind of sinner for not being a die hard fan of Snake Eyes.

If they don't have them, nobody does

I've observed his behavior at times and found it to be somewhat amusing, while also getting annoying and rude. As with anyone annoying, if you reply to him and get involved, you're only egging him on. I've seen numerous folks who've felt the need to respond to it when they could simply let it pass and move on. I do believe that if he's being honest about his age that his youth may be a contributing factor. I also feel that he's definitely cooled off in the past few weeks. Perhaps your earlier "discussion" with him has had an impact, and this will also serve to calm him down. IMO: One more chance, then if nothing changes, adios.

Cool. Thx.

Is anyone else tired of DC's "event" stunts? I've only recently started collecting again, but it seems to me that they spend almost all year doing tie-ins and outs with their yearly crises (no pun intended). And now Marvel's getting into the act! Huuhhhhhh, God help us. Costing huge $$ to stay up on this stuff.

I didn't realize there was a game last night. Wow! On top of us already. Well, personally it's my favorite time of the year. Football is big for my family. Where I live, once the fall rolls around there's nothing like having a family dinner and kicking out on the couch afterwards and watching a game or two.

Really. We had a guy where I used to work, now keep in mind that the position was that of a computer network admin...when I got stuck with him I told him to format a floppy disk to put some data on it...he was like "How do I do that?". It's one of the most BASIC things you can do when working with a computer. He made a total disaster of everything he touched, and I told my friend: "Promoted to management in 6 months". Sure enough, he got "promoted" to the project management group, given a laptop, moved to HQ, etc. What a joke. The Peter Principal in reverse.

So I thought I'd pop in and see if anyone else here spent time with the GI Joe show.

I grew up with that version of Joe. I was really in awe when they were doing 5 part story arcs, like the weather control machine, etc; while other shows were doing one shots (except Transformers). The one thing that I could never really get over was that nobody ever died on the show. Everyone was the worst shot on the planet.

Funny you should mention that, Jedi Sage. In the original script for GI Joe: The Movie (1987), Duke (the rugged blonde guy who kinda looked like classic vintage Aquaman) was supposed to die, but the death of Optimus Prime in the Transformers movie upset a lot of kids, which led to unhappy parents, so the GI Joe people changed Duke's death to a coma, even though if you watch the scene [without audio] and just go by the reactions of Lt. Falcon (Duke's half brother), Scarlett (the jaunty red head) and General Hawk, then it's quite clear that Duke is dead. Now whenever I think of that scene and the coma line, a voice in my head screams "The man is clearly dead!"

And this all goes back to the fact that production actually started first on the GI Joe movie, but GI Joe ran into a series of production problems and delays, allowing the Transformers film to finish first, so release dates were swapped, giving fans time to freak out over the death of the great one (Optimus Prime), thus short changing Duke and GI Joe, leaving some fans to theorize that maybe if GI Joe's movie had gotten released first and kids freaked out over Duke dying, Optimus Prime might have been spared (although they did bring Prime back, which I guess makes him the Jesus Christ of Autobots).

Isn't it great that you have me to provide you with this useless trivia?

LOL

I didn't realize there was a Joe movie in 87 (where was I? Hmmmm...Oh yes, I was in hell, otherwise known as a Vocational/Technical High School). I had only watched the tv series that was on around the same time as the Transformers tv show, although I was quite traumatized by Prime's death. Rodimus Prime was a freaking loser.

*Edit* Also, I thought the Baroness was the hottest chick in that show!

Out of curiosity, was "Princess Bride" a hit at the box office or a miss that amassed a great cult following like "Buckaroo Banzai"?

Has anyone read the book on which the film was based? I think there are like two different versions, an original and a "good parts" version.

You know, if they were making TPB now, it would probably star Orlando Bloom or some WB boy as Westley (played by Cary Elwes originally) and some underfed girl as a tougher, more feminist type Buttercup (originally Robin Wright Penn).

It was well receieved to begin with, but over the years it got even more popular.

There are two different books, the original and Morgenstern's "The good parts" version. Never actually read it.

You're right about a modern remake. They'd do the "multicultural" version, with the evil prince being a conservative white male Christian gun owner, while Buttercup would be played by the "hip-hop" star of the week like Christina Milian, or someone.

WHA-WAA-WHHAAA??!?!?!?!?!

Dear God in heaven- someone get this man a copy of 'The Princess Bride'!!!!!!!!!

If I ever find this movie on DVD, I'll rent it and watch it.

You won't be sorry. A nice little movie. No profanity, good story and plot. Mis-matched but well cast actors (that's part of the fun with these whacky characters). Directed by Rob Reiner, of the tv series "All in the Family" fame.

Forgot about your signature. The scene with the iocane poison is priceless. "Never go up against a Sicilian when DEATH is on the line...Ah ha, ah ha, ah h.........*thump*

The cast was perfect, although Robin Wright was kind of blaise. Billy Crystal and Carol Kane were awesome.

Make sure you have the latest Windows security updates in place, as one of them may patch the vulnerability. I wouldn't be satisfied with leaving it on there and using another browser (although FireFox is the long term answer). Do you have a firewall running? Try a software firewall like Sygate or ZoneAlarm. They may alert you to any outbound traffic that could be causing this, which would allow you get rid of the source. Sounds like you may have other major problems given the results of your other scans. What OS are you running? Windows 2000? XP? Might be a good time for a rebuild given what else is going on.
